A similar worded question on my culminating and our whole class is divided with Yes or no answers.

On one our lessons sheet it states bases can be described as alkaline metals (barium)

In my thought process I said that yes it would neutralize because when barmium is considered as a base since it’s an alkaline metal, thus when it mixes with an acid it will produce hydroxide ions and interact with the hydrogen ions from the acid which will quickly react into neutralizing. Something like that. I’m not sure anymore if this is right.

But one of my freinds said barium is 1.7 on the oh scale, thus acidic?? But we never went threw like acidity and basic levels of metals so how would we know that esspically the exact number
