Hi! I have a mod idea: Progress Bar Loading Screens. What this mod does, is completely remove the default world Loading/Generating indicator (text is retained), and replaces it with a nice, smooth Progress Bar. The bar container shall be dark gray, while the bar itself shall be light grey. Additionally, right next to the percentage text, there could be text that shows the Progress in chunks (e.g: 1/560 Chunks).
#(1.21.3) Progress Bar Loading Screens (CLIENT)

Anyone willing to dev this (Bump)?

@green terrace, does this seem feasible, and within your time scope?
Oh, ok.
You mean this right?
Oh ok, ty
what version?
i mean it should be pretty much the same for all
Its in the title of the post : 1.21.3
And the name should be...?
Hmm...
(just so I know for the project files lol)
Refined World Progress idk
Better World Loader
Refined World Loader
hm
I might add a feature too where you can see exactly what's generating at that point
This is fun lol the idea crossed my mind before but I never had a real reason to make it
Better World Loading
Alright 👍
Is that kind of bar OK or do you want the classic minecraft bar?
the one from like the resource reloading screen
HMMM
I like that bar too....
Hmm
Let's see...
I think I'll stick with the one you just made
Lemme add the chunk counter
Oh alright ✅
Also - I thought of a small enhancement idea, where a high-pitched, quiet "tick" sound plays, every time the bar gets more filled - just an idea. Mod looks great man.
Do you have a github?
I wanna follow u
I have modrinth, does that work? I post some unrelated coding stuff on my git
Oh ok yeah I could follow u there
Followed the cactus dupe mod - interesting idea
Also nice skin
Ender-style Terminal Icon 👍
Thanks! It's my ingame skin
I'll see about that ticking sound, hang on
Oh, alright 👍
Man it's easy to code
but hard to find a good sound
I'll pick one tmr, it's getting late
Let me know if you think of anything
Alr
Imma play some sounds in MC and send you the sound ID
for the "tick" I thought of.
alr gn
Ok, I think I have found the sound ID for the "tick" sound: minecraft:block.note_block.hat (VOL: 1.5F, PITCH: 2.0F).
Oh that's perfect!
Do you want me to send you the mod so you can test it?
I'll release it for 1.21.x probably
I'm adding MidnightLib to enable/disable the sound and the chunk info
Hmm, I never like to install libraries, tbh; will it be embedded though?
Yeah that'll be great!
Lemme check
Testing now...
Fabric API is fine, right?
No library needed!
fire
Wait this is super cool, actually
Would you be able to port this to 1.21.1? I would love to use this
Yes, i'm releasing 1.21.1, 1.21.3, and 1.21.4
just waiting on an icon from a friend then I submit it to modrinth review
Neat, really love this mod
I feel like it provides better info, the other screen was cool but not super interesting
Yeah lol, I love the chunk loading text
It has optional info about what's generating too
(toggleable with midnightlib)
Oh wow, yeah that's really cool! I have MidnightLib already (for another mod) and will definitely add this to my pack
Also TIL you don't need the midnightlib mod itself
like the jar file
Apparently it is compiled into your mod automatically
I was glad to hear that because it makes it easier for people to install
I never like to install libraries, tbh
Yeah same lol, I don't like it much either
Very good info for sure
Also the mod works well for me, thanks @shadow spade: great job!!!
So will it be hosted on Modrinth and Curseforge?
If people want CF I can do it, but I don't agree with the way they're run
I'd prefer just Modrinth
👍
I should do 1.21.5 too
Niceee
Alriiight! Good luck on the mod's download count!

Guys it's out!
Hell yeah, finally
@muted prism "Hell yeah" is correct!!
Nice!
😄
@shadow spade sorry to ask since I know people hate mentions of neoforge in this discord, but do you plan to port this? I love this mod and want to use it in my new modpack
Yes, I plan to port it to (neo)forge, I was already approached by a development team wanting to use it in their pack
Oh nice, good news
finally got it to work for the development team
time to port to (neo)forge 😄

[neo]forge is out, just waiting on approval from curseforge
someone wants 1.20.1 fabric too
nice work, appreciate it 🙏
hey i'm glad y'all like it
This is my first mod to really take off
It's being added to all of the Better Minecraft and MedievalMC packs form luna pixel studios
glad to have witnessed the rise of better world loading
sorry if I sound like the licensing police here
but you should probably change the license to GPL3 or something
ARR is a pretty harmful license for derivatives and stuff
Choose a License
You’re under no obligation to choose a license and it’s your right not to include one with your code or project. But please note that opting out of open source licenses doesn’t mean you’re opting out of copyright law.
Sorry if I sound like the licensing police here, but I’m pretty sure that GPL is not a valid license for mods since mods have to link with Minecraft’s (ARR) code. LGPL, yes. But I’d usually recommend against copyleft licenses, as they reduce the freedom of any future authors to choose the license that is the best fit for their situation.
-# (Note: I was trying to funny, not sarcastic, by mirroring the format of your message)
Lol I'm glad to have made it
It's taking off a good amount
(I might be picky + selfish but I prefer to not have someone use my code, I'm always available to talk to and if someone has a bug or feature request I'm always willing to consider it)
And I have no problem with that. 4194304 might, but I don’t.
I see
that's perfectly fine
I thought that possibly you just didn't choose a license
no, I picked arr for a reason
K???
it has 2k
Wow, that’s a lot.
yooooooo i was about to come here to say this
From Idea to Implementation: The Rise of Progress Bar
Is that something to be proud of?
Honestly theirs looks kinda shitty the green doesn't fit in very well
I got ROASTED on reddit trying to ask people's opinion
😭
i am thoroughly proud of it
e en though it is quite a common idea
Thank you lol
I kinda needed to hear that rn
indeed. brightness awaits all
they did the exact same thing with my debug keys anywhere mod too lmao, like that mod is basically just in vanilla now
its just the same looking progress they had before it was replaced by the chunk loading thing
its not new
oh the old green progress bar was actually removed a long time ago before the square existed
Yeah!!
i'm working on better world saving
kinda
in the background
my bro got the vanilla feature on a crt
Bro what
is that even real
An actual CRT
running the game on it brooo???
WOOOOOO This mod BOOOMMEDD WHAAAA:
NICEEEEE
what are you looking at 😭 look at curseforge
and yes it is nice 😄
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAANGGG.... That is actually just viral now bro congrats
Bro I didn't know my post would of gotten you this far let's goooooooo
I feel like one day that'll happen to me lol
real XD
I get like $65/month from this lol
obviously not living off that but it pays for 2b2t prio and whatever else I feel like buying on a whim
I made this resource pack for 1.12.2 that allows you to load 1.13+ packs
it's been out for 2 years
I think it would definitely take off if it was a resource pack packaged as a mod
I just read through that thread, this is such a wild story, considering the fact how many downloads this mod now has lmao
Good job guys, really! Congrats 🎉
Thank you!
what’s the split between curse and modrinth? cause your downloads on curse are way higher but then modrinth pays way higher
Curse pays $65/month
Mr pays next to nothing atm
oh right, i wouldn’t have thought it’s too bad, i get like $1 / 100 downloads give or take
I only recently uploaded the forge versions
i'll probably have a better idea in like a month or two
ah i see
did you multiload or just make them separately?
