#NEED IDEAS: Unique early game extension mod

I will be making a mod to extend the early game (pre iron), and I need some ideas for features.

Primary goals:

  • Be different than just flint tools and collecting rocks
  • Incentivize exploration
  • add value to the gameplay progression rather than simply adding steps for the sake of it
  • not be annoying

bonus if anyone can think of a way to make getting food less annoying (so not having to worry about causing a mass extinction)

That second one could be solved by removing the "if theres no animals here, make it less likly for new animals to spawn" feature to be fair

i don't know if this is a good idea but would panning for resources be interesting? you could like make a pan out of wood and have to find rivers (incentivizing exploration) with either gravel (or a custom block) that you can pan to find resources to make further things
