In the last few days I've been working on this ingame visual nbt editor and I would love to hear your opinion on the design etc.

It looks excellent
looks great! Only thing I would recommend is if the property grid is anchored to the right side of the screen, it will be way too spaced out on widescreen monitors
even in the screenshots I think I'd have a hard time knowing what row I'm editing due to the spacing (unless there's a hover visual)
alternating bands of lighter and darker background colors for each element would be a good solution i think
but yeah there should also be a maximum width for each gui scale
I was personally thinking of drawing non-distracting lines between the two sides
Would also help with the horizontal scrolling when the tree gets to big
But I'm already really happy with how it turned out
Not happy with the code tho xD
It's a single file with almost 1k lines of uncommented code
Just added a high contrast spritesheet
dont know how to differentiate nbt-strings and strings yet tho
ig this works
@pseudo kiln @timid ice
How is it with these lines?
I'll probably also make it light up when hovering over the corresponding row
that sorta has the same issue as now its just hard to tell if the line is connecting to the left-side row
the hover light up would help a ton
you basically need some hover visual to create a connection between the tree view entry and the property grid for that entry that separates it from the unhovered ones
Do you think this is bright enough?
I'd maybe try turning down the opacity of the non-hovered ones
If I turn it down even further it just looks weird
I think this is the sweetspot
looks great! 👌
Yeah that looks nice
The name is a bit confusing though
Just don't call it NBT Editor for Cactus
Cactus Mod is the name of the Mod tho
But yea it may have been a bad decision on the discord here
Ingame Visual NBT Editor
Guess this is better
It kinda sounds like you're editing a cactus
