#Ferring glitch?

Has anyone had a problem with a rocket that stops responding to the normal keyboard controls X and Z after getting into space after adding a ferring to cover a rover or a probe core?

I've been able to successfully launch a probe core and rover with a decoupler that work fine, but when i modify the same rocket by adding a ferring to enclose the rover, the final stage engines stop responding to keyboard X and Z commands even sometimes when the stage engines are still burning. It seems to be intermittent, because sometimes it works and other times the ferring either won't deploy and/or i'll lose control of the engines (can't turn them off or on suddenly).

Maybe a mistake in construction on my part or does anyone else have this issue?

Will look into it. Does any light indicators below the navball become red in those cases?

I'll go back on the game in a sec and let you know if those lights are active

been having trouble reproducing the issue. Seems to be working now. But yes i did see red lights at one point below the navball

All right, let me know if it reproduces

I was able to reproduce it. I launched the same rocket with ferring a second time and once i got into interplanetary space and went to perform a maneuver for Venus, i couldn't fire the engines and the ferring didn't deploy. There was a red light to the upper right of the navball.

#

in my previous attempt i was able to deploy the fering and stage in Earth Orbit, but i think this is a problem on the interplanetary level

#

i got a screenshot but i can't find it. I'll send it when i find it.

I was able to do a game capture video clip showing the ferring glitch. Note the nav ball controls completely fail to respond to mouse input and keyboard controls to continue the burn after setting a manuver for the Moon.

did a quick load fix it

#

also if theres a quick fix to it include it

#

helps narrow down where to look

#

also the solar panels and batteries did you place them on there so the craft could recharge

#

that might be why

#

or r they under the ferring

lime sun

That's why rocket doesnt receive any input

hmm.

so maybe i built it wrong, because i used the satellite probe core as a command module. So when the ferring deployed it neutralized the command module.

#

Here's what the rocket looks like without the ferring. Do you see an issue? Maybe this would be a good subject to cover in a new tutorial on rovers.

Could you please send here this rocket? You can find it under %USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/unbeGames/Rocket Science/saves/ folder

#

I will take a look

👍 Super helpful!

Thanks!

A side thought. Maybe a short tutorial on the difference between the different command modules and probe cores and how they affect staging. Just a suggestion 😉

heres an example of a dual probe core sat payload

Oh I see... I had it mostly right. How do you know if your probe cores are oriented correctly?

#

I was having problems with my nav ball being backwards

weary kiln
#

The light on them

#

The light should be on the right side the nav ball should show blue if it’s facing the right direction

#

When you turn with d the rocket should turn right

#

A it should turn to the left you rotate the probe to turn into a degree you want to head for orbit when launching

#

Usually good practice is to fall right head right with the grain of the planets rotation for a gravity turn to save fuel and accelerate fast

Helps get through the ozone also follow me on twitch I go live mostly every night so if you have questions please stop in to ask
