If a game is voted on (fairly) to win awards for various aspects, I say let it win. To me, this applies to anything in competition that has multiple categories.
I do think there should be runner up awards when voting is close, don't let the other items get overshadowed.

Nonetheless, if this is true, it will vindicate the existence of the first stars in the universe: Population III. They are predicted to have a very similar mass to the one(s) being described in the article.

This. I worked on a comic where an artist got hired to work on a few issues. We had a character we needed a new outfit for, some martial artist-y stuff. The artist did a few designs and staff agreed on which one to go with.
Then the artist started a bunch of psuedo political drama and ended up getting fired. She immediately started posting all of the designs for the character she had drawn, which was absolutely against her contractual agreement, and when asked/told to take the posts down, stated saying "well it's MY art because I drew it". Except she was under a work for hire contract which meant anything she created while working on said comic belonged to the comic. She ended up having to get threatened with legal action to finally take the concept art down but by the the comic had already had to hire someone else and completely redo the design anyway since she had spoiled it.
Doesn't matter if you're a "big corpo" or "uwu smol bean indie dev". Assets are something anyone can argue over.

I mean this is just like the most broad description of what should be done, set up some contract with conditions so both parties are happy with it and in case something goes south at any point they can just break up and go their own ways again with either being at too big of a loss. It is work, work should always be secured via a contract.
It just creates issues if you go based on vibes.
I doubt real professionals in the field of animation or art do work without proper contracts setup.
As well, you can sometimes, past the initial TV airing of an anime, see the Key-frame artists of some scenes post their storyboards and rough drafts.
Even if you make a game for example and buy stuff from the Unity asset store for example there are still terms and conditions applied, as you said like the artists retaining the I:P rights to their works, still a form of contract agreement being formed.
