I will say the remote has a solar cell battery so it never needs like, new batteries or charging (though it does have a plug for I think USB-C in case that solar cell dies)
The cell is on the back, though...which means you have to put it upside down in order for it to charge

Basically, when the Switch 2 sends a command to controllers saying "disconnect/turn off" (i.e. when the system goes to sleep, or when you start a game that restricts connected controllers to 1), it did it in a way that Switch 1 controllers read it as "unpair from the system"
So the controllers would, of course, unpair.
Maybe the switch 2 itself forgot the pairing?
But it seemed to specifically happen when the system turned the controller off, not the other way around

and I can tell you that NONE of them are going to be valued at their box price, or even half of that, at any retailer
