new mega pokemon reveled
It means nothing to me unless they put every previous generation's creatures into their newer games.
What good is it for a yearly release cycle that is buggy, unpolished, and outright lacks what the fans want?
Bowser's canonical penis
It's not yearly
It's every 3 years
Honestly, I miss the GB/GBC Gen 2 and the "Card Flip" game (it was a slow, but actually very easy, way to earn coins on the legit hardware)... the remake's "Voltorb Flip" doesn't even come close.
As for buggy and unpolished, that's Game Freak. The games have always had buggy stuff, especially after the jump to 3D.
They are being pushed by Nintendo for the frequent releases.
No, Nintendo handles the legal side of things. Game Freak handles Game development, and TPCI handles merch, PR, etc. Pokemon is owned by 3 entities that each play a different role.
... really? Bulbapedia shows it actually more than just once per year: https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_games_by_release_date
And I meant in general, not just the mainline franchise games.
Those are made by different people
... Honest question, why does it seem like you are trying to defend Nintendo?
TPCI handles the mobile game stuff too
I'm not. I'm being realistic.
Game Freak makes the mainline games (Except for BDSP, which they gave to ILCA, a 3D design company). The spinoff games are made by different developers such as Creatures Inc, Bandai Namco, and Spike Chunsoft
For main-line games, has any game ever come remotely close to what Emerald's Battle Frontier was?
Platinum's battle Frontier
But most games have done only the Battle Tower or similar concepts. Scarlet and Violet are the first games in the series since the Battle Tower's introduction in Crystal to not have some kind of Battle Tower.
Which btw is much better than Emerald's Battle Frontier. I love Emerald's Battle Frontier, but outside of the Battle Factory, it's just not fun to put up with.
Understandable.

aw man
they were typing for 5 minutes, i was waiting for that message 💔
I doubt I was typing that long.
no, not you
sheep
Take those typing notifications with a grain of salt.
Sometimes, my cat moves to cuddle with me and puts his paws on the keyboard
If you’re ever in the same room as someone while it’s saying that, it does not stop and start in real time.
Every single facility in Emerald boiled down to random chance. The Battle Pike is LITERALLY random and even the hints you DO get are completely unreliable and can lie to you, often meaning you lose because you got poisoned by some guy and can't heal it. The Battle Arena is confusing and requires an insane guide to understand, which isn't in the game, plus the frontier tycoon has a SHEDINJA. The Battle Palace is literally just zero fun because your Pokemon just select random moves and sometimes even decide to not do anything. The Battle Pyramid is just bumbling around in a randomized dark cave without Flash. Battle Dome is fine but it can sometimes feel cheap due to the way it's coded
it was not good
If my cat hits the keyboard, I send it to whatever chat they typed in
Sometimes it just never drops when the user does.
Emerald sure has a lot of battle goodness gracious
Meanwhile, in Platinum, the Battle Arcade allowed some degree of control by having you stop a grid that can affect wither you or your opponent positively or negatively. It also had the Battle Castle, where you could pay to affect the battle, at the exchange that you can't heal between battles without paying. The little girl in the Battle Castle actually ends up on Unova's Elite 4 btw. Then there's the Battle Hall, where you you bring one single Pokemon with you and you get to choose your type matchups for 10 battles. The goal of the Battle Hall is to keep playing with the same Pokemon over and over to get a high win streak.
context for non twitter users?
No context was provided.
But I’m guessing it’s related to the patent nonsense.

@unborn mauve @sacred mango @tough comet @plush marsh
Lots of games use summoned creatures to fight battles for the player, but Nintendo seems to think they should own the patent for it due to Pokemon, and they are going to use this as another weapon to attack Palworld.

fire medic art ❤️🔥
What did that AI do to poor Charizard
I don't even like Charizard, I HATE Charizard, and I think he deserves better
No he fucking doesn’t he’s gotten a major cameo in every generation since x and y
Being AI generated is a torment he does not deserve
It's also in Conquest despite the other starters not being in it
I honestly thought it was supposed to be just one season. It set up everything perfectly for the 15 years leading up to the original run.
I think you can get a second season out of it to show Harry's actual death, we also haven't seen young Captain Matthews or Doakes yet, also Deb police training stuff like that
Yeah early versions of those characters would be good to see.
But as for Harry's death, I think the reveal that he knew who the not-yet Ice Truck Killer was adds questions that I think are better off unanswered, and left to fan speculation.
So in a nutshell, Nintendo are so desperate they try to extend lawsuit longer to drown Pocketpair in legal fees, those scumbag :/
where's my ping
i apologize for my failures Mr. D 😔
I can't be failing you in aspects like these
I have been demoted from secondary character to background character in the official Palworld™️ Server dot com. D will find greener pastures.
E
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
please don't leave, Celesdir would be sad :(
Come on man, you know Celesdir needs the D!
I saw
But my birthday is coming tho

Ah, yes... Another day of a typical Nintendo. Nothing surprising that they wish to keep going with the lawsuits.
I feel like this 'summoning' patent isn't only targetting Palworld, but it's also targetting other games that involves summoning to fight others for you.
And I mean we're talking about games like: Terraria, Elder Scrolls games, HeXen, HeXen 2, etc.
Literally anything that involves summoning creatures.
And this, is a huge problem.
Nintendo has a US patent on ... games that have summon mechanics.
#gaming #skit
Okay, this is curious. Even a lawyer is mystified this is allowed.
yeah...Atlus and Sega might want a word with Nintendo for this. The megami tensei series started in 1987, the summoning to fight for you way out dates Pokemon.
I wonder if people still remembered a little game called Robotrek on the snes? Think quite a few mechanics ended up getting copied into the pokemon games as well. I believe squire enix owns the rights to that as well.
They can't use it in the lawsuit. Also they have no grounds to use it period. Not only because final fantasy uses this mechanic but also Dragon Quest, Digimon, Persona, D&D, World of Warcraft, Hell even GW2 I'd argue, uses a version of this mechanic.
And technically Magic the gathering has been doing a version of this for years. Since you, the player, you play as a caster in the game and the whole point is to summon monsters (and people) to fight for you.
So it boggles my mind as to how Nintendo ever managed to acquire this patent
I think Monster rancher qualifies too.
Yep
Hey, guys. You know what I realized? In Left 4 Dead 2, using a bile summons a mob horde to attack specific things.
Ratchet and clank has the minion glove in the first game
Also the little bots in the second game too
The Yu-Gi-Oh games also have a version of this both digitally and virtually
The dungeon games also have you summon creatures that attack your enemies.
And there was Duel masters. I don't think people remember that one though.
Capsule Monster Coliseum and Duelists of the Roses too
Wrath unleashed for PS2 had you summon creatures to fight for you but that was a pretty obscure game I think
And also Capcom had Chaos legion.
Like I'm sure if I spent enough time thinking about this, the list would grow exponentially. To the point where I don't know if I could ever take Nintendo seriously for ever trying to claim patent infringement for this one.
why are you listing my ps2 shelf inventory right now
playing the "name that game which infringes upon patent" game
all games infringe on patents, because I patented video games in 1932
And I've lobbied the governments of every country to extend the patent indefinitely
what came first, chess or shogi?
That still exist in the latest game, the one with dimensional rifts, but instead of a glove if i remember correctly he uses a gun instead.
When the projectile explodes, it summons minions which will hunt enemies and fight them for u.
saw news on the Nintendo patent
Good morning
Never thought of using watercolor before when i drew, in my case i just skip to straight drawing what i see and skipping the drafting portion
I this dude did pretty well despite the misalignment of the eyes
https://youtu.be/OXuTUKPZuOk?si=NLGxzZdiYO6ryRgZ
#ayane shirakawa#drawing #watercolorart
I've always viewed usage of watercolor as risky coz once u fck up u can't redo it without potentially breaking the paper.
that's why there is a full stack of new sheets of paper, not just one.
you can try again and again
also majority of anime have had their background drawn in water color through the majority of the mid twothousands
it's only recently that they started to explore digital
if you look at the first season of Digimon for example, backgrounds are all in water color, which gives them their distinct look.
So I'm seeing the whole BS that Nintendo got granted in the US and it makes me wonder. Is that gonna affect things like say summoning Atronaches in Skyrim? Cause so far it kinda seems like it and if that's the case, oh boi, I'm not only gonna have to start doubling down on blocking Nintendo content from my house (like I was already doing) but going beyond that....
Its gona infect all summening system...
Patents don’t work on prior art, Nintendo is literally just wasting everyone’s time.
If, it pass
How they’re even getting these granted is extremely sus.
Yeah but I mean what about that being appliable for say Elder Scrolls 6?
Doesn’t matter, the invention already exists.
I’d like to see somebody sue them to the point of discovery, but that’s not going to happen.
Because there’s no reason they should be getting any of these granted in the first place.
But this is just… extremely shady.
Guys what is the hip new twitter url to make videos embed properly...
fx and fixtwitter aren't working
fixupx or fixvx .com
Alright so it doesn't have power on already existing creations but what if for example a new game or IP tries to have some kind of summoning thing like for example you having a game that has sorcery system and can summon say a succubus or dragon?
Neither of those worked
Ohhhh

Yeah these ones are for discord. I think you need different ones for Slack
It might also just be disabled by company policy
I sometimes use vxtwitter.
I was talking to someone else in another server...if they do really shady stuff with the people behind the scenes that can land you in jail, their reputation is going down the toilet faster than the Hindenburg.
The issue with this patent is it went full nuclear, other companies could ignore nintendo and it being grumpy at an indie game, but like a kid throwing a tantrum, they kept throwing things and broke something thats got everyone in trouble. Once the bigger companies figure this out larger lawyers than pocket pairs are going for them, cause that affects more than they have any right to claim.
NGL gotta start making movements for having companies like Nintendo to cease business in Europe if they go on paths like this
Cause at least here the systems care, even if a tiny bit more about the consumer than Japan or the US it seems
Not to mention this means every company big or small have to pay Nintendo a licensing fee for using a similar mechanics in the game. And I'm very sure given how greedy AAA developers are, they're not going to budge in to them like that.
Can't believe I'm saying corporate greed of one company can counter another corporate greed. But anyway I digress.
But yeah if a big company decided to sue Nintendo for a patent mechanic they didn't create and own and they did their extensive research, they're in big trouble.
I mean this nicely, one of the big new limited jobs coming next year for ffxiv is beast master where most likey you are going to capture beasts and have them fight other beasts after summoning them
I hope this happens because if Nintendo decided not to sue them for the mechanics and go after Palworld in the US, that's proof of anticompetitive bias.
I think this new game is gonna inlvove some slavic/Irish/Scottish flokore
Tho doesn't the US systems prevent you using new patents on previously made crap? Like the patent was just granted they couldn't use it for Palworld I think
Ehy em, Bucky, can we have a Channel for PPP games?
Nintendo has the Yakuza in their pocket, they’re untouchable.
They have no power outside of Japan tho....
The news channel is almost exclusively for PPP
we'll never post news about Palworld or Craftopia in there
I think they want one where people can chat about it.
Please drop the news ping if you don't want to know
As it says in the role screen.
Oh...hmm...
Maybe...I'm not sure it would be very active though realistically speaking. They are just small little games.
BTW, hi Bucky. How's things going? :3
Tsuppasaiyajin
There should be a Pal version of this Elmo gif.
Bucky be like
"This is just fine"
Meanwhile the internet is on fire
XD
Technically for the past day.
I’m pretty sure Fir recently played Normal Fishing in his fishing ranking video. i didn’t realize pocketpair was dev
You guys should go fishing.
Watch out for the Nintendo Ninjas. They're listening.
there’s a pokemon version :PunDog:
ah rip can’t use external emoji here
We are just the publisher, not the devs.
ohhh
U made me remind that classic TF meme
"THE HEAVY IS DEAD!?"
🤣
Can't, no saddle for water Pals and the pond was occupied.
Pocketpair can earn revenue from publishing, right? Maybe by certain %?
We can but we strive to offer terms which are much more relaxed and developer-friendly than most publishers.
Pray for more successes. We needed them more than ever now.
Bucky always giving us bangers.
Thank you king.
PPP, more like Pocket Prettymuchevery Penny
Ee too lazy to redraw from scratch if i fcked up in watercolor if i ever draw.
Never used pen nor Digital. I only ever draw using pencil
I've been really thinking about Sega, Sqenix, and Bandai in particular as players who have a lot of claim power to go after this, especially if it is a joint lawsuit and they have several examples of monster catchers prior to Pokemon (megami tensei, DQ monsters)
A broken clock is right twice a day
he’s right a lot more often than that
I hardly agree with everything he says but I’m not some psycho who thinks he should die over one cringe thing or whatever.
Nobody in their right mind is siding with Nintendo
We want Nintendo destroyed!
This says it all. The issue is that there's WAAAAAY too many stupid people out there
Now I’ve done it.
We don’t gotta go so far as destroy, we really just want them to stop getting in everybody’s business and the rest will sort itself out
Nintendo will never stop, though
If you were to make an Audrey 2, what method would you take to construct it?
Zero chance that I would side with this, 'New Era of Nintendo'.
Nintendo died long time ago after Satoru Iwata's passing.
Comparing to present day Nintendo, and the man of legend himself: He cared very much towards his fans and brought love to the previous Nintendo's community that the current Nintendo would not. He created games that felt more enjoyable and brought inspirations to others. But now today's Nintendo... They would rather much line up pockets of money from all of the lawsuits they create and line up all the carcasses in their own paths of destruction.
And of course, the new era nintendo's brainless muppets that supports their ideals.
once someone brings up DnD having summoning LONG before this Nintendo crap
I mean, I’d like to see companies like Microsoft (WoW) and Square ENIX, who are bigger than them go at them at this point. Since then have had mechanics like this long before them.
elder scrolls
Yeah I'm scrolling
MS/Sqenix/Fromsoft joint lawsuit
even hasbro can join in
Are you looking into the past with that scroll?
I've been blinded by it, I kept staring at the weird symbols until my sight just said "fug this shit I'm out"
I suggest drinking the vodka, not throwing it
Unless it's a molotov
Vodka is pretty flammable with unattended fires.
Mix with honey or syrup & you've got yourself some urban napalm

I mean mix with Honey or Syrup for a tasty fun treat!
Something glows in this chat and it ain't the shrimp.
60 years ago, Glowing Shrimp would've been a hot commodity, because people were really dumb back then
there's a ton of different pencils, try charcoal maybe, there's also watercolor pencils
I love using charcoal hehe
Very off topic, but when I was like 13? I had this loooonnng ass comic called Glitchmon. I was a fan of glitches and the mon game (back b4 they were aholes). It was being created a bit b4 gen 7 was released. It's- god. Its so cringy. And yet I have such a fondness for it. Funnily enough, it had a few things like capturing humans and wacky hijinks. I just wonder how different it would be if I had learned of Palworld earlier / If Palworld came out earlier cuz I know I'd be just as obsessed as I am now. Honestly, I wish I had time/energy to make a Palworld comic with the same level of love, creativity, and cringe I had when I was that young
Like I really wanna know what the hell kind of craziness my mind could come up with regarding a Palworld comic. What new fun characters I'd make. Like a lot of me wants to do it, but man- I don't even know where I'd start. Maybe just doodling pals on paper. If I ever start something, for sure I'll share it. I just miss those wacky adventures
glowing shrimp?
Why glow
Nuke Shrimp
If you make it with Walmart shirmp, it'd glow in the dark too!
Radium shrimp
Delivered by putin
Oh neat, that news announcement. I played the beta Normal Fishing from their itch.io, it's nice to see that they have a publisher and are moving towards a full release
I knew something was wrong, but I never knew it was this bad with their history... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RVHmmbEg8Q
Soulless, greedy Nintendo. They aren't the same as my favorite gaming company when I was a kid: Soulless, greedy Nintendo!

It did catch me off guard bc I can believe he made a crypto casino, but I know full well he isn't going to give me money xD

This is the greatest nintendo patent of All Time
I just linked to something just a bit ago... I think it is similar?
Yes.
I saw the image on Twitter (Reddit?), but there was zero link to the actual article, so I have no idea if it is legit or not.
I think big N is just trying to pick fights with its new patents it recently made in Japan.
They hate palworld
Hard to deny that TBH
Funnily enough, The Pokémon Company does not handle any work of the video games, only the IP. What I mean is that they are, in basic terms, just lawyers.
we can't discuss the Centro stuff here but basically yeah
I keep forgetting some things that are not allowed in specific servers, but I probably shouldn't state what I have that causes me to keep forgetting things.
Some people would use it as a "reason" to invalidate my arguments.... like how some people have used my gender identity to invalidate my Borderlands 2 "review".
basically we can't discuss stuff that was uncovered due to leaks
Totally understandable.
Other than big N going nuclear im not sure
Going schizo
Who ever is approving the patents is obviously working for them at this point
I will need to find a can of the correct size o.o
Big N arent bullies they're straight up monsters
Everything they have done is absolutely illogical they could have just let them be but no they refuse to take an L and just move along. Really dishonorable of them if you think about it
they handle leaks, most notably the tera leak that happened a while back; as it's a leak and not official news, we aren't supposed to discuss it
I hope the Japanese government sees the monstrosities big N is doing and flats out shuts them down
🤔my painting skills suck, hopefully I can print a label to use
That’s not gonna happen.
They’re not gonna shut down their pride and joy over stupid stuff.
I love the Monument Valley games. The only mobile game I actually enjoyed, now on the big screens.
Are monopolies even legal in Japan?
they're not supposed to be
Japan loves Nintendo on every level. They are given far more than the benefit of a doubt.
- Nintendo is seen as the good guy by the public.
- Whoever Nintendo attacks, the public believe it is always the fault of the victim.
I don't know how accurate this is, because I don't speak Japanese, nor do I live there.
Probably an oversimplification
Sounds like communism practice oh wait it is.
But they definitely command the respect
Respect is earned not commanded
It’s because of all the good they’ve done over the years
What good? Suing anyone they can for the smallest of things, worse game qualities as they make more garbage and pricing games $70+ because they feel like its a good price and not because its actual value?
I used to like the big N but now they have changed for the worse
You’ll either see it or you won’t.
That’s fair.
They put more effort into lawsuits than make anything else
But yeah, even the old Switch still outsells everything over there.
Big N is no more than an oversize infant crying
They deserve every bit of disrespect for being a company of greed
Random question is anyone really good at making discord servers like permissions bots and what not dm me if possible please, payment could be discussed, this is not a self promotion just genuinely need help
Yeah that's something that fukin bogs me. That even with all they did somehow Japan has this cult mindset around them
From the people I know that live there seems to be the case. Even the non japanese ones. Had to leave a group once cause I couldn't stand the way they blindly defended Nintendo on even the most unthinkable BS
To defend yourself, here is an ideas to ask (you can choose to ignore this idea suggesting, as it isn't the best of advice anyways):
"When was the last time Nintendo publicly admitted they lost / goofed up, for how long did they keep that information public, do you have to look it up on your own, and how many times in total have they done this?"
One example I know of that they failed on this is the original Switch Joycons stick drift... you had to go out of your way to get a refund (like literally look it up on their website), and the window that they allowed meant that many people could not even get a refund due to being before the "small time window".
Just watched this video... seems true for many of the newer AAA games (luckily, Palworld lacks most of the hand-holding that the person talks about). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65k8VIyJlXQ
thx for watching!! - I’ve been pretty busy this past month but now that things are slowing down I plan on trying to be more consistent with my uploads, not only on this channel but also my gameplay channel as well soooo Ima try my best :P
Also… youtube butchers my audio quality by a LOT, it sounds so much worse when it’s uploaded… sorry ...
What do you mean?
Was just a random topic idea to talk about before you actually leave another hard-headed group.
The idea would be just an attempt for them to notice that big N isn't consumer-friendly.
It is just a way to talk about something in hopes that at least one person realizes it, even if you still decide to leave.
Survival games in general often just throw you into the world.
Sadly, there are people who hate Minecraft due to its graphics, but still play similar games like Palworld, Rust, etc.
I cannot grasp the concept as to why people hate Minecraft just for its visuals alone.
Yeah but I mean, if after everything that's happening they still can't see it. I think they're a lost case already so 🤷🏼♀️
Minecraft is basically the most successful game ever so it’s not that bad off.
Even if they refuse to talk about it, you will at least know who isn't your friend.
I thought that was fortnite
Fortnite is up there but Roblox is beyond that.
Roblox isn't a game remember
And sadly, many kids are just completely blind when it comes to device security:
- Piracy
- Blindly following secretly-malicious YouTube guides to fix things
- etc. etc.
Their lawyers are very particular about that
Roblox is on the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) here in the USA.
Therefore it is actually completely divorced from the gaming industry and should be excluded from it in all analyses or observations
Reject modernity, return to Usenet
Stuff like Core, Roblox, Rec Room, VRChat... they are not games on their own, but more of a hub for user-generated content.
Sadly, I cannot see the appeal of Roblox after they tossed my report of a person botting out the window, even though I had legit video footage.
(Not to mention that all the good clothing requires real life money in there)
let’s not discuss what other reports they throw out
Reporting someone in-world is useless. Also, many of the tycoon games get spam bots that leave before you can even open the user list to report them.
(Roblox only allows reporting a user who is currently in the same "room" as the person making the report).
Yeah, as you can tell, it is quite a wild west... not even counting that it isn't even COPPA-compliant (they state it in their EULA thing, but most of us know it is not compliant).
Roblox... I had to click two links from a not-signed-in homepage to find the seal. https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004630823-Roblox-Privacy-and-Cookie-Policy
Rec Room's has it on the homepage itself at the bottom, next to the ESRB rating (at least for the USA English version of the page) https://recroom.com/
Also a major difference between the two homepages:
- Roblox uses a login page as its homepage.
- Rec Room actually has a lot more of "what you can do".
... I think I'm blabbering again...
Though I still don't like how Roblox was hogging my SSD when it refused to let me choose where to install it (I would have put it on my HDD... and yes, I looked carefully at its installer but no such option existed at that time).
On another negative for Roblox... if you play it quite frequently, there will be useless files and folder left over from previous versions of the "game".
I think it is somewhere in C:\Program Files\Roblox ... you would eventually find a folder that housed many version-looking folder names.
Hmm... if I knew back then, I would have tried to move it and manually symlink, but their anti-cheat might have noticed it if I did so.
This gaming laptop has two built-in drives (an SSD and an HDD). I wanted to move several files over to the HDD from my desktop without figuring out which programs are possibly needing files over there.
Well like, OG Vanilla Minecraft, like circa 2011 or whatever. Way before the Microsoft Coding rework whatever. The graphics were worse than N64. Like Sega Saturn or PS1 level. But the graphics weren't my biggest problem. Around 2015 or so, people started a notion that it had educational/creativity uses for children, and I vehemently disagree with that. Children should go learn Coding, CAD, pencil/paper drawing, painting, sewing, woodworking, whatever. Not wasting time with blocks for hundreds of hours.
- Hardware was less potent.
- It was just a passion project at first.
- There was a lack of anti-aliasing (making some visuals, like a flat layer or bedrock, look very bad).
What???? Minecraft's release date was 2011. The same year that Battlefield 3 and Witcher 2 released.
Minecraft was available before Release 1.0.
Yes, yes, but as far as the "official release", that was 2011.
The person who got me my first Java Edition account did so after I paid him (it was the day before Release 1.0, so I got a discount on that account).
Besides, games like Oblivion was 2006.
Speaking of Bethesda, I actually understand the hacking minigame (Fallout 3 and later titles).
The number it gives after you attempt a guess is "how many letters are in their correct place?".
Meaning, unlike Wordle / etc., it will never give a number for misplaced letters.
By the way, on a similar (but incompatible with Fallout) topic, if anyone ever needs a Mastermind Solver, someone has made one that runs locally after you download / visit the GitHub.io page:
https://nebupookins.github.io/JS-Mastermind-Solver/
Yeah, video games had a lot of great minigames in the 00's.
Palworld Usenet group and IRC, let's go
Some of my favorite minigames were the "shooting galleries" in Zelda OOT and MM.
I am in an online community that uses IRC... and I found that community through Gopher of all things.
Gopher, not the animal, is a protocol that predates HTTP. I forgot if it predates FTP.
Have you tried gemini protocol using the Lagrange browser?
Neat shit. One thing you can credit covid for is that it gave a lot of people free time to try out new infrastructure ideas.
Covid ruined collectables... video games, trading cards, everything went sky high from older adults getting back into their old hobbies.
Collectables blew up because people have no faith in other securities.
I have kept a collection of sealed ETBs from Sword and Sheild Pokemon TCG.
I used to joke with a buddy that it was a better investment than the stock market.
Patience > Scalping.
I understand that vintage synthesizers were all considerably cheaper before the pandemic.
I've seen people use minecraft to effectively teach subjects that may or may not relate to the game, for example a youtube channel called Gneiss name who teaches geology through minecraft using command blocks to do some neat tricks. It has its uses however it requires effort and creativity on the part of the educator for it to truly shine
Unfortunately education seems underfunded in many places so I doubt folks will use it to its fullest potential... I'd wager he's an outlier but I can't be 100% certain so don't take my word for it
As a whole, I think the biggest problem with K-12 education, is that we're only teaching kids/teens to be ready for college. We aren't teaching them anything to be ready for a job, nor pay rent or get a mortgage, nor how to handle credit.
Nintendo once again out with a patent..
Say goodbye to future Persona, Final Fantasy, etc games
I’m hoping I read it all wrong but the sun up was like:
For next 25 years, protected by patent, all games from this point:
- Can’t summon sub characters (pets/companions/monsters)
- Can’t toggle between character and sub characters during combat or paused frame feature to toggle during combat
- can’t have a sub character that moves freely or follows player when no enemy or combat
- player cannot control position and actions of a sub character
If that’s all true, imagine how many games are going to be affected by that. Especially indie games being made.
-shrugs- I'll be dead before I finish my already existing backlog of games. NES, SNES, Genesis, and so forth.
I hope WotC come knocking at their door with their own lawsuit.
And Bandai Namco too for this:
https://x.com/Guilmon1659444/status/1966237778683084818?t=eboow8j4NcSf4MqBRxtbbg&s=19
I believe we can still counter a patent claim. Actually, a golden opportunity might happen.
I hope they lose. It seems to me like they're getting desperate.
They're kinda are because the stuff they patent wasn't even invented by them.
Exactly my thought! What right do they have claiming ownership of something so dang vague???
I might stick to indie titles for a while, Nintendo's been pising me off
That, and possibility of full-on divorce.
Remember, the people behind Nintendo aren't gamers like before.
Sadly
I think this all started when Iwata passed
At least that's how it seems to me
They're the same kind of corpo nutjobs as AAA western companies.
Gary Bowser is a corpo scumbag.
ugg
Just like those in Ubisoft or Activision or that guy behind Borderlands 4.
They won’t go after companies where Nintendo owns a part of their company or official publisher. Persona and Final Fantasy won’t be affected
Nintendo is trying to monopolize the monster catching/battling genre.
Which in itself should be condemned because genres should never be monopolized.
Especially since TPC didn't invent this genre.
Same with Capcom. Nintendo owns a share of them.
I agree. This is ridiculous. They must’ve paid a lot of money to U.S. patent judges
I won't be surprised if there's suspicion on that.
In fact, even US lawyers are baffled at this.
https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/an-embarrassing-failure-of-the-us-patent-system-videogame-ip-lawyer-says-nintendos-latest-patents-on-pokemon-mechanics-should-not-have-happened-full-stop/
Fr if Nintendo was really found to be doing shady stuff to the law system, this would severely destroy their reputation.
That's just it though, It's a US Patent. Not Japan
All Japan game companies are fine, but any companies in US or studios or developers who publish their game in US are now subjected to abide by this patent.
Unless given permission.
For 20 years, until or unless the patent changes or becomes void.
Nintendo just basically said: Screw American developers.
The Japanese case is tied to the ride mechanics, the same one that's used against Palworld.
Yeah thats silly if you ask me cause I mean, how many games use that mechanic
Yeah, and pretty sure in the foreseeable future they're going to be really crossed.
Lol, literally World of Warcraft.
If the controversy regarding the Switch 2 dev kit isn't bad enough.
Red Dead Redemption.
And that's coming from Rockstar.
It’s not all Japan companies though. Pocket pair is a Japanese company and they still going after them.
I wouldn’t surprised if they use this case against them in other countries
Not to mention Hoyoverse from China with Nexus Anima if Nintendo decide to go full on unhinged attack with the ride mechanics.
That's kinda what they're trying with the US patent.
I’m pretty sure they are doing this because of the rise of monster capture and battling games coming out recently
Aniimo and Guardians of the wild sky are some examples
Which patenting the mechanics just goes to show how anticompetitive they are and how confident they are with their Pokemon IP.
To be fair.
No disrespect to Pocketpair (I love you guys)
I think the patent was granted I think in 2023, just months before Palworld released in 2024.
But to be fair. They werent able to legally go after Palworld, until they updated that patent (after Palworld's release) to which then they could take legal action using a (2024 UPDATED 2023 PATENT)
Which if you ask me
Sounds illegal
The application was approved after Palworld was released, but the way Japanese patents work is any approved sub patents tying to the parent patent will automatically be tied to the parent patent.
Didn’t they also change the wording of some of their patents against pocketpair mid lawsuit too
This is some kind of joke
Oh thank you
If a parent patent was approved in 2020, any top up patent approved in later years will instantly be considered tied to 2020.
If you think this feels cheating, it is. But unfortunately that's how Japanese patents work.
Yes, they did.
Which even if it's allowed, it doesn't change the fact this doesn't look good on their case.
Again, bizarre Japanese law practice.
I'll never understand country's laws beyond my own. XD
Which even lawyers were baffled at the new wording placed in the patent which made it even more vague than specific.
Ditto, sometimes it just defies basic common sense imo.
Not to mention the patent was applied after the first Palworld teaser trailer was shown back in 2021.

I see. So sounds like sabotage from the start
But now Im sad cause of this patent they did in US
It's really nothing to worry about, imo
it simply will not hold up in court, if it even gets brought up (which it probably won't)
Its worst crime is going to be wasting storage space in the patent office, probably
maybe that's why they use so many pages to explain such a mind-numbingly simple concept
to waste more space.
And stifling developers who may want to use this mechanic.
Yeah, it's basically trolling.
Who, exactly, is worth suing that can't fight that patent
Approved =/= 100% completely valid and unchallengeable
Bring up other examples of this mechanic used before and the fact they didn't invent this mechanic when compared to the Nemesis system and they're suddenly in a bind.
Baffling that it was approved, but mark my words, its biggest impact is going to be generating a bunch of clickbait that feeds back into palworld media coverage which means more palworld sales which means pocketpair wins
we take only Ws here
And bad press to Nintendo.
Their silence isn't going to help much given how untrustworthy their business practice has been lately.
they announced a direct like 2 minutes after the media cycle started soooooo
Yeah...
Like silencing people calling out their nonsense $80 price tag.
And even not being transparent about that in their websites.
People can be blinded by nostalgia, but not in this age.
I would’ve believed you if this Palworld lawsuit wasn’t a thing.
How are you so sure Nintendo is going to go full speed on this?
Japanese court =/= US Court
That’s a not good reason but ok
My further reading suggests that this is a patent Palworld has already sidestepped, but I'm not really legally qualified to say for sure
But I believe "actual game dev on twitter" who explains things with words over "news article with stock pokemon picture"
Yeah " actual game dev on twitter" isn't "lawyer with extensive background and inside knowledge" but it's closer to that than article that is financially incentivized to peddle panic
The world would have a lot fewer problems if, when we saw any post or article that made us feel any strong emotion (besides like, happiness), we stopped and thought "am I potentially being misled, manipulated, or lied to for someone else's benefit"
IGN, eurogamer, I don't know journalism sites, but they all explicitly get more revenue if they give you an incomplete picture that is arranged to look much more frustrating, hopeless, and terrible than the reality is
-# and considering how many times those articles have been posted here the tactic's effectiveness is quite easy to quantify
Either that or look at articles on comments from IP lawyers.
Nintendo has been filing patents since before video game was a word embedded in human culture and they will likely still be filing unhinged patents long after Palworld is a forgotten retro game spoken of the way we describe the original Donkey Kong
And games like Palworld will continue to exist, because the nightmare these articles are selling you simply isn't there
You are being scared by a cloth on a string with eyes colored onto it so that IGN can make a quick buck of ad revenue
Sorry if I sound dry or derisive, this topic kinda grinds my gears with how repetitive and circular it gets
Maybe I should not talk about it, but it feels like it's all anyone talks about anymore
Well I hope it gets taken down cause I been working on a indie game for 5 months and hope one day to put out on steam or something (nothing big or special) but it consists of such mechanics this patent is covering that
(I’m not legally knowledged either entirely)
Not sure what may happen if by mere chance gets caught on their radar.
I mean I only bring it “the chance” cause Nintendo has a history being petty.
They went after a convenient store deli in the middle of who knows where called Super Mario’s Supermarket. 😂 no relation to Nintendo, the owner’s name was Mario.
-# and they lost
also as I alluded to, my information says the patent is WAY more specific
Patents read like Nintendo is claiming ownership of all of creation but in reality it's like
Even the tiniest deviation nulls the entire association
Gotcha
Do your own research if you're gonna publish a game that might infringe and all that, but definitely don't read a journalist's published word as truth
Noted. Thank you for insight.
it is more worrying that even if N* lose, the patent they just got will use it against small dev in the future, i don't like this at all.
Gonna set up the bot to remove all roles and channels from anyone who says the word "patent", and will only return roles and channels after the person has watched the entire bee movie backward.
please
Who still remember kingdom hearts?
Haha
You least have to let us drink during that bee movie. No one in their right mind could do it sober.
You'd think that, as a bee, I would love the bee movie
Bee Movie when Hornet Film walks in.
this is false
The bee movie uses generic commercial-grade anthropomorphic bees where it stops being a bee as soon as it reaches the generic cartoon face, which imo is a crime punishable by life in prison
Yeah, I'm looking at you Cheerios
Into the gulag with you
Kingdom Hearts when Empire Intestines walks in.
Better be Star Wars and Marvel Avengers in Kingdom Hearts 4 >:c
Need that Keyblade Lightsaber and Infinity Gauntlet mode. 😂
Well I'm going to let pocketpair know get Disney help.
I hope they see the Gmail and at least do some research. I'm just a nobody but at least I did something about it.
Anyway thats all. Peace
I think there was a kid who watched on repeat the bee movie so much
Like a year or something
All I need now is a DAC for it.
Oof.
The heart may be weak, and sometimes, it may give in…
All I'm hearing is "darkness"
He who knows nothing understands nothing.
I wanted to cosplay Ansem so bad when I was a teen
then I learned of the actual work and price of cosplaying…
💦
I will be at Japan during the distribution of the codes for the shiny -raidons. I only have Scarlet so at least I will get a Miraidon with my OT but the downside is... I wanted the shiny Koraidon. Will try to get a spare one and see if anyone can help by redeeming and giving it to me...
I'd smear the shit on the walls for that bs
||In the US people do that anyway for some reason||
||that is probably one of the more tame things done in public bathrooms here x.x||
Never use public bathrooms
||Some stains I’ll put up with more than the defecate…||
You don't know what was sitting on that seat
That’s why you use a liner, or line the seat with 🧻
Fun fact, keyboards generally carry more bacteria than what’s often found on public toilets.
3 microns???
I saw a vid on that ages ago. Yeah, seats are cleaner than folks make them out to be. I still wouldn’t sit on one bare tho
It’s just that public facilities is get cleaned regularly (assuming it’s not in some slum).
But yeah, you’re also gonna be better off with your own bacteria than sitting on someone else’s.
But yeah, ad-walling TP on this continent would backfire terribly.
I carry flushable wipes with me when I go in public areas. And if there’s no liner, a wipe and tp on the seat will do just fine
You’d probably be fine either way tbh unless the place is real nasty.
I feel like ad walling tp is going to not work
Like I could just mute my phone and look away
It devalues ads
Which means companies need more ads
Which means they use them more aggressively
Which devalues ads
Until eventually even this message is an ad for the new Ford F-150 Ultra with 6000 horsepower and the pure strength you need to get the job done
Joke’s on you, they’re using eye tracking
Yeah those were words they use in car ads
I’d hope not
Built Ford Tough.
Hand over screen
Unless it's those public toilets along highways or run down buildings.
I'm guessing this is some attempt to address rampant toilet paper theft
Or get clicks on social media over how dystopian society is becoming
That is a thing, especially in colder climates.
Which tbh if you're stealing toilet paper from anywhere, maybe you should see a therapist of some kind
Or your government should be reformed
Stateside anyway
What good is toilet paper in the cold???

People steal paper towels and toilet paper to bundle it up for warmth.
It’s why there are often those locked electric dispensers that only give you a foot at a time.
0 Insulation
100 absorption
0 durability
Peeling off your frostbitten skin and wrapping it around you is probably a better strategy
Just the air gaps it creates is better than nothing, apparently.
But it’s super sad either way.
Failure of society that anyone would ever consider that an option
Even more so that it happens often enough that it's a problem
I have my doubts that China has anyone that desperate.
And messed up that our solution focuses on blocking access to the last resort instead of considering the root cause
I mean bathrooms still need these supplies to be available.
The fact it’s a problem in the first place says a lot.
Maybe it's just weird vandalism
Because I have my doubts any public restroom is concerned enough with revenue to implement such an expense and technologically complex solution purely for that reason
If it was just "you must insert coin to wipe" I would think differently but having you scan and watch an ad is so much more needlessly complicated
I’ve been involved with conversations about these things between customers, vendors and suppliers. It’s definitely real.
Wait
Doesn't someone like
Own that, technology
Tech gets licensed and is often just available on the device that has it.
Like
The thing Nintendo has on throwing balls
Doesn't someone have that for ads that track and require attention
Someone who evidently has made 0 use of it and essentially just used it to block any other company from implementing the concept
You’re gonna short circuit if you try to assume who owns what.
Well I've never seen the tech in practice despite so many devices having the hardware so
Rumble in controllers has various patents and there have been many suits around it.
But everyone still has it.
Either this is the line of morality that advertisers have drawn or someone with a nasty legal arm owns the concept of demanding a viewer actually observe and acknowledge an advertisement
I believe Nintendo’s first implementation of it for Star Fox 64 was licensed from Immersion, but don’t quote me on that.
Because if it wasn't off the table it would be a thing
So don’t assume somebody can’t use eye tracking because somebody has a patent on one of the million implementations of it.
That they could be licensing anyway.
The greedy goblins at YouTube would not let you watch videos in peace if they could force you to watch the ad
Last I heard YouTube’s algorithm is boosting videos that have enabled the most amount of ads.
On the off chance they did create skynet and are watching me, I make a point of refusing to look at any part of the screen except the skip timer, or consume any food or drink, while an ad is playing
The pizza is for actual content, stinkwads
I used to use the Youtube TV app all the time, but haven’t touched it in a couple years because it’s basically unusable with all the ads that happened.
I’m sure somebody has hacked TV apps to deal with this but I’m not so hooked to the display’s built in software.
The instant it became less convenient than an attached device it’s instantly back to being a dumb TV.
I watch like video videos on my xbox
as opposed to audio videos
To wrap yourself up from the cold.
Yes
I listen to music on my computer
With adblock and an extension that lets me set custom loop period because apparently this isn't worthy of being a standard feature
I saw them in stock at Costco yesterday.
So probably getting easier to get one.
I'm Italian, I don't think we have cotsco in italy
Atleast french does, why our neighboring counrtys have cotsco but not us italians
okay yeah, no idea how supplied your region is.

@rustic basin @rare coral
No Mega Delphox for you 😔
So How do u get it?
I don't understand a thing being said right now.
Subscribe to Nintendo online
its made to be not available on launch
For the full game, on Switch 2 that'll be $100. They found a way to sneak in $100 game son the Switch 2 lmaoooooooo
you need to be involved with the ranked battles whatever that means
No wonder they’re sliding all their chips into patents
yup, you cant get em thru ingame progression
can we NOT bring up that
Btw the DLC is incomplete
can I pelase talk shit about anti-consumerism stuff without bringing palworld legal stuff, i beg u 😭
Yeah, for the full game you'll need to pay 100 bucks on the switch 2. It's so incredibly greedy
Like when you’ve even got the diehard poketubers upset about it you know it’s bad
There's gonna be more DLC too you just know, like they did with Scarlet/Violet
The day 1 DLC is incomplete
They do it cause they know it’ll sell.
Story content for the DLC will follow at a later date
$30 pre-order for an incomplete DLC on an incomplete game lmaoooooooo
back in the day that would've just been post-game content
I'm curious about that
i am so glad to not do switch stuff nowadays
like i deadass 100% mean this, it is more fulfilling to be a pokemon artist/commissioner/furry
Bro
“Amid Palworld Lawsuit, Nintendo Patents a System for Summoning a Character”
Not associating with Pokémon anymore was one of the best decisions of my life
than it is to actually engage with their games
maybe buying plushies? cuz at least with plushies its very straightforward
I got Scarlet myself, but I think that might just well end up being the stepping off point for me. Between how horribly buggy it was (in single player, the people online insisting it was only with multiplayer stuff are wrong and I have months worth of proofs) and this insane greed going forward, I'm just going to stick with romhacks, thanks no thanks
The eshop versions of S/V and DLC have literally never gone on sale afaik
This is the first post-Palworld pkm game. Will it sell well? Will it take a hit?
Even Mario goes on sale every few years
dude
Its pokemon
you're insane if you think palworld is gonna put a dent on that
!!
It might, actually
no it wont, this is delusional lmao
People overestimate the size of cultists
I know we don’t like lawsuit talk, but I wonder if this is intentional so they can be like “see! It is impacting our sales!”
But I think it’ll still sell like hotcakes
At this point. Charging 100 bucks for an incomplete game, no wonder Nintendo keeps throwing tantrums about patents, literally any creature collector game could come along and eat their lunch
Let's just see what happens
you wanna know whats on the top charts among gacha games with high production values on their games?
Fucking. TCG pocket.
and that game is as comically as low effort and has such a laughably minimal QoL it's embarassing
You wanna know what bottom charts? Pkm unite
People saying it won't affec tthe franchise at all aren't thinking about how the target audience for these games are, you know. children, in a time with a shit economy where the parents will just buy some other game or tell their kids to go play roblox or something, videogame companies in general are killing off their future fanbase but it just keeps getting worse and worse.
The only thing that’ll stop the game from selling is a meteor.
It will sell, but maybe not as much as s/v
Unite got banned a year or two ago too in parts of the EU for it's gacha mechanics
By how much, that is the question
It will definitely sell, shiny hunters bought the switch 2 for better FPS
The question is how much
Belgium and the Netherlands iirc
It was already dead by then
also from what i heard Unite is a fundamental misfire on the MOBA genre
like it a game made by people who do not understand what makes MOBA engaging
Shiny hunters are an extreme niche in the market. I'll love to come back in 5 years and see the overall sales figures with how they're doing things tbh
I played it, it was good
This is a very bold claim considering switch 2 is fastest selling system of all time, we’ll just have to wait and see
But the balance was dogshit
And they made it too clear who they would buff to sell skins
Which were expensive af
Pokemon Cafe is similar too with it's gacha microtransactions
S/V sold substantially, it’s pretty much expected for a Legends game to sell less.
It’ll still be massive.
oh and that Pokemon Friends game recently too. $40 for the full game counting the dlc for that, on a mobile port lmao
again
it's a lot more fun to look at furries draw those mons in the unite/cafe outfits than it is to play the games
We'll see
Didnt PLA get better sale numbers than BDSP and SWSH tho?
iirc PLA sold worse than BDSP overall, but that's 2 versions of the same game pretty much
Than the repackages? I sure as heck hope so.
idk if that's changed since I last saw the sales figures though
Damn
https://x.com/celmiu/status/1966516460076892369?t=vk59WNLxZBsXim9fIGvJZQ&s=19
@minor dagger you, take this!
There were some funny threads on 4chan mocking PLA, an arguably better pokemon gaming experience, for selling worse than BDSP, at least at the time
istg mega phox looks nicer on fanartist than their official model 😭
A lot of the mega forms have been so bad lmao
yo that looks beautiful
https://fxtwitter.com/tontarotaro/status/1753178660377600306
this gif is probably more fun than cafe remix as a game
about par for the course though ig, a lot of the ones from the 3ds era were pretty bad too
Riding on a broomstick like a witch and the broomstick head being on fire is very fitting
Actual good design, fits the fire witch motif
Could be. I haven’t looked at that data, at least not in a minute.
Still is it seems by a little bit
I heard BDSP was really popular in Japan
I'm surprised let's go sold so well given how much hate it gets from the community
oh yeah we got news of poke today...
i lost all interest when i saw a fking dlc when the game isn't even out.....
like, they think the base is alr shit at this point to alr release a dlc...
and bananza alr got one too...
-# not to mention who the fuck wanted mega for raichu....what are we doing here?
I have yet to look at the direct myself, I do find pre-launch DLC to be insulting, even when companies plan ahead for these anyway.
Money money money money money
There was a time it would be a response to demand for more content and not some predestined thing.
Let alone taking the money for it straight away.
line must go up, even if it means the company burning down later
it was one of those directs , that you knew what was gonna happen, unless you didnt know for the past year or 2

Virtual Boy pricing revealed: buff.ly/uRKhP19

Why release that health hazard
i love the taste of color red
Or the google cardboard version for $25

I can get that for free just asking for it in the loading zone of a market
So that explains why they file lawsuit on DIY cardboard Nintendo Virtual Boy.
They stole it and are reselling it, yes
Not even royalty fee.
Because of this, little Timmy can't go to school and submit his assignment.
You now remember the Nintendo Labo.
For me, it's Nintendo "me Labo™️ las manos" from their shitty games and practices.
And because little Timmy can't submit his assignment, he failed his school subject and can't afford to pay school fee for next year. And his future is gone...

How come fan modders can do this but they refuse to do so?
PKSM is nice, I've been using it for romhacks on my 3ds
So ZA is already Gen 10?
apparently so
here's your gen 10 pokemon game
Starting a new Gen with a spin-off is an interesting decision
Someone pointed that out a moment ago. I don’t know the reason as of yet.
Imagine going back in time to Gen 5 and telling people this is what Gen 10 was all about
10 generations baybee, the money train never stops
Or go back to Gen 1 when every other person was convinced it was gonna be a short term fad.
I mean they basically ended up becoming the Disney of Japan, so it's not that far fetched imo
Would've been interesting if some other franchise did it though, I think dragon quest had a monster tamer game at the time too
Funny wouldn't even know what this "Generation" thing is within the context of Pokémon
"Guess what, we are now in Generation X of Pokémon and it's still the biggest franchise ever!"
"What the heck is Generation X?"
Y
Gen 2 was already being teased by the time the anime started and that show was localized before the games.
Generation ZA
Because they were intertwined. Beta builds indicate A LOT of Pokemon were cut from the first. Many which would be repurposed for the 2 games.
And Mewtwo Strikes back was officially titled “Pokemon: The First Movie” in the US. 😆
That isn’t the reason though.
It was Pokemon: The Movie here
I know what you mean. I'm just saying they were deeply connected.
More so than other regions between generations.
Yeah as far as the games went they had no idea it was going to blow up.
Just went with what they could ship on time like anything else.

It hurt itself in confusion
why would they sue themselves for animal crossing if its literally one of their IPs
that makes no sense at all

Watch Nintendo patent dating mechanics next.
@rustic basin you too!

I ❤️ Nintendo
Nintendo just made games illegal. In one of the most shocking moves in the gaming industry, Nintendo has started patenting basic gameplay mechanics - summons, mounts, and companion combat, things that have existed for decades in video games like Elden Ring, World of Warcraft, and countless others.
These new Nintendo patents are already being u...
Raichu is one of my favorite Pokemon, so Gamefreak showing its Megas with the paid DLC for the game that isn't even out yet feels like a slap in the face
cause they both look ass, beside doing a dlc with a game not even out, showing how the devs feel like base game is not enought?

All the classics stuff is behind the subscription.

Virtual Boy had like… 5 games? I’ll pass on the deep red tinted games
Migraine Simulator/Generator
They will include the entire library of the Virtual Boy in the NSO (a grand total of 14 games)

Don’t you know that 87.5% of all fennekin are male
Total sausage fest
This says a lot about starters
Rat?
Among other things.
Rat
the ratios have never been cannon. thats a gameplay thing to artificially increases the rareity of the pokemon, thats why every starter has that ratio
RAT!?
partner eevee for example has a 50/50 ratio while the rest has a mostly male ratio
why the hell whould they do that if the canon ratio is the mostly male one
additionally Azurill has a compleately diffrent ratio compared to the rest of its line
To be honest i also agree with this
delete all genders, problem solved
all pokemon orignaly disigned to be rare have the same ratio
Charm, Cute Charm, Attract, Competitive all became useless 😔
We've been back to gen 1 often enough why not
without gender, they'd work regardless
Cryogonal gets attract the scales have been balanced
would also mean cryagonal can finally attract someone
Guardian pokemon
Except it always fails when it uses
They probably gave it Attract just to he funny or showcase what happens when a genderless Pokémon uses it
hey if i wanna seduce Stakataka that's my business
mew could do this before. cryo feels like an oversight
Good luck!
This is honestly horrendous
Be nise Raccoon guy...
I don’t even remember the name of this one tbh
Stonjourner.
Something along the lines of Stonehenge... yeah Stonjourner
I remember it because its weird as hell. Looks straight out of Adventure Time. And has a weird ability that doesnt really synergize with it
With a few exceptions, Gen 9 did NOT cook with Pokémon designs 😭
🦝
also I saw a big raccoon the other night. not sure if i showed you
You didn't!
You should show it
INCREDIBLE CREATURE!
Thank you for showing me this picture Mr. D!
Unforgiven I must still remain, but always learning from my old mistakes
Da big iron
I blame Pokemon for Spyro's failure in Japan.
I hope Pocketpair decides to parody Pokemon's FOMO obsession.
the katana of gunz
Damn, another Gunz player
-# I'm leaning towards the Rapier of guns now that I'm thinking about it.
So, next update Pokemon Z-A Pass xd
Even Dragon Quest V and VI had a monster taming mechanic before Pokemon released in Japan.
pokEAmon
in case you didnt think pokemon pvp attendance was low, theyre now making it mandatory for mega evos which will possibly end up meta, lol
And still have $10 left
and 5 copies of Silksong
It will soon be that Nintendo and Game Freak's audience will drop out
I can buy some groceries with that $100 o.o
at least you won't go hungry for the time being
@NintendoAmerica Preorder cancelled. Already damned tired of 2 games of coop multiplay for content in Sword Shield and Scarlet Violet but now they're 'forcing' PVP of all things for content!? Gimme a break. I'm betting its just Nintendo forcing Online subscriptions sales for this crap. I'm out.
Just charge for your poop
Nintendo likes to send lawsuits, but they also destroy fans
"how do we convince people to do PVP in game instead of showdown?"
But, I would have gotten enjoyment from it
still stupid as shit fot them to lock content behind fomo competative
the battle system is obveously going to be diffrent but still
DLC cost 30$
It sounds like they are getting stronger in the patent department, but weaker in the audience department. Now where have I heard this situation before?
why the hell are they alreddy planing dlc thats stupid as shit
Not even planning
It's day 1 DLC
30$ for pokeballs and outfits
Most of the clientele are completely oblivious to all of this stuff anyway.
Why do all of these DLCs come with so little of these pokeballs
the above dlc is "buying/preoredering the dlc" gets you that
its like how buying the season pass in S/V gave you some shirts
i think the DLC comes later
Purchasing early access DLC
They promise they'll release the content in feb 28th, 2026
They figure if a non-trivial chunk of their fanbase are willing to buy two identical games each generation, they’ll be willing to spend the same on whatever expansion pass straight away.
I'm not joking
Oh wow, I thought that was only to transfer them. You can't get the Megas from the region they were introduced in? 😂 So fucking funny man.
Imagine a DLC mega stones still locked in the online battle rewards XD
sometimes, when a game is finished but you dont want to move the devs over to another project in case they need to fix day 1 bugs, you keep a few of them on and making extra last minute content; it cant be added as base as it resets the register procedure
then you add that content as extra post launch stuff, or as a DLC
People still buying these low effort games blows my mind. There's really nothing of value in these games man.
but literally selling that as day 1 DLC is definitely just greed =p
They own the register procedure
greed is an understatement
im talking about when the game finished and you have to get it registered with age ratings, testing, etc.
This cope for day 1 DLC for a 1st party game, on a 1st party console
Boring dialogue, horrible graphics, TEXTURES ON BUILDINGS THAT DON'T WRAP PROPERLY, inconsistent FPS. I can go on but I don't have all day.
It's just cut content put behind a price tag
Cut from the base game to be sold separately
my guess is that the game was finished months ago, and got delayed to make a switch 2 version;
as such, youve got a bunch of bored devs who need to still have AZ knowledge when the game launches the fix bugs so you cant move them to another project
Fix bugs?
they likely worked on DLC in advance but the game took so long to come out, they managed to basicaly finish the DLC already
What game are you talking about
in their defence, they did fix the lumiose city bug
Or Nintendo just didn’t want to release a bunch of games the same month.
Kit, they are not a indie dev
They didn't randomly decide what to do
This was planned, years ago
It's a schedule
Not chance.
If they made it, they made it, if not, they crunch and release anyways
yeah, thats why if it was a 2 year schedule, year 3 would be DLC
but then the game got delayed a year and now its releasing in year 3
Pokemon is not MP4 lmao
MP4 had other issues =p
Another cross gen game
Dev hell + open world surely makes me nervous about it tbh
definitely suspicious that the metroid prime remaster was the first time nintendo used twin stick FPS controls almost exactly 20 years after the patent was made
i wouldnt be surprised if that affected MP4 in some way (made with control scheme A, control scheme B became public and they switched to B)
Paywalling Mega Stones
What is the source for this
I have never heard of anything like that. I played tons of games in GC that used twin stick FPS controls
Time Splitters, CoDs, MH
the first game to use it was Alien Ressurection by Argonaut Games who have.... an interesting history with nintendo
Original dualshock had twinstick games going with it.
Halo was probably the first FPS that did it properly
That game was a flop and the control scheme was considered a failure
Turok was close but the C-button on the N64 was odd
Believe it or not, it was criticized and considered bad
are you using that one review that said "the control scheme sucked" and hes literally describing modern FPS? =p
Nintendo made a 60 min direct but they fell into their own hole
Nintendo will be fine.
Yes?
Peak hubris takes years for it to impact them meaningfully
And what does this matter, if the game with scheme is on the console, it's making Nintendo money
funny a DLC new stuff is lock for Switch 2 than just make update for Switch 1
yeah, it was "weird" cause it hadnt been done before, but it since became the staple of the genre.
however, for 20 years since that release, nintendo never released a game witht hat control scheme but everyone else could
you could release a game on a nintendo system with it, nintendo themselves just couldnt
Back in 2002 FPS hadn't even evolved a 2nd stick
Halo wasn't even a thing, the biggest FPS were all in PC.
The previous biggest FPS, was golden eye, and that console only had 1 stick
shows how much it revolutionised it huh
Halo was 2001, wasn’t it?
Goldeneye 007 with one stick was brutal, but it's all we knew
all it took was someone figuring out a way to make FPS play smoother or more natural on console
Yeah, you're right
you could plug in a second controller and use the sticks on both in a similar fashion
Dual wield gaming
Nintendo doesn't even make shooters
https://youtube.com/shorts/Ku3S2XTTQu0 yep, we see it in Palworld too
#shorts
When I saw the news about GTA 6 being so real in the play tests, I already knew it wasn't going to phase GTA gamers even a little! The moment we get into Vice City and GTA Online, it's going to be mayhem every single day.
Had to hold R to shoot at Oddjob
The only thing they have is Metroid, and during the wii era, why the would they do a dual stick scheme
they tried, but you try coming up with a better control scheme
No Oddjob allowed 🫠
Oddjob is a cheat man
Sorry, but you're making no sense
the wii controller had two sticks
All Jaws
The regular controller did
Yeah, but everyone went for the motion gimmick
What is with gamers and acting like Homelander in their games?
Which was the highlight of the console
The waggle era was a weird time.
People are simple & kinda dumb
Wont catch me acting like this in Palworld
Lovlander
I dont do anything nasty with my pals
I respect that
Ive never even learned how to use the meat cleaver
🆕🅱️
Old B when
Motion aiming was definitely the best choice for any shooter Nintendo would make
Even when MOTION SUCKS it's still better than stick
It was arcade gun style controls
nintendo should patent that
Any motion that was 1:1 wasn’t actually bad.
