hmm which version, good question, I mean if you want everything in the same style, you should go for the 'remade' epsiodes, they converge into one after a while once the styles become the same.
Otherwise for the nostalgia factor watch the OGs in 4:3 ofc.

I've watched it when it aired on TV, back when after school anime was peak.
Pokemon, Yugioh, Detective Conan, One Piece, Doremi, Sailor Moon, Digimon.
All of the classics aired during that time, so it was bound to become one of my favorites.

Though I stopped watched Pokemon after Generation 3 (generation 2 really), Yugioh I stopped after GX, Detective Conan I never stopped, One Piece I stopped watching at some point, I think after the Thriller Bark arc. and the other shows just naturally ended.

But with Conan I stuck, it's 'fillers' were just some random cases that they got involved and solved, so you didn't really feel like it couldn't be part of the world events around them.

On the weekends, very early morning anime, Together with my Sisters we would watch Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne, Shaman King and a bunch of others, fun times.

Depends on your tastes. I found the story and background lore genuinely interesting. There's some parallels with other media like Terminator and Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans.

But jokes aside it's got a some good character development. Dehumanization is a recurring theme on all fronts in the show and a commentary on drone warfare as well.

Pacing can be leisurely between battle scenes as it focuses more on the pilots than the cool spider tanks themselves. As much of a mecha fan as I am. It's pretty much always has been more about the pilots than "wow, cool robot!" That makes a good series.
