Like probably since the 80s and 90s we've been building planes that do not actually connect the pilot directly to the control systems, but rather interface with a computer that uses what was pretty state of the art programming to basically fly the plane on its own, using human input less as a "rotate ailerons" and more as "turn left" and this has actually caused a drastic decline in aviation accidents

Meanwhile a car, which has no complex aerodynamics, will crash signifcantly MORE when operated by a computer, and we're only very recently actually trying to do it

I guess that's because planes don't have to navigate intersections with other planes, and when they do it's the pilot and air traffic control doing the navigation, not the flight computer

It's honestly just a joy to play, especially as a longtime fan of the franchise. Excellent gameplay, excellent roster (not perfect, but eh, never was), excellent visuals, and so many musical callbacks to basically every mario game ever made + some other nintendo tracks

The only real complaint is that a lot of the new "tech" is ridiculously difficult to do because where you can see an alignment to do tricks, the game is like "yeah you didn't do it in the 0.05 second window we designed, so uh actually you die and get sent to last place now"

which means,.....can't play online, it's gonna be full of sweats who drill every tech down and just flawlessly execute them

the issue with random lobbies was that the only way to play actual race tracks was to select random. so Nintendo patched that out. they realised a problem and then intentionally patched out the solution people had found instead of fixing the problem people had or adding an option that already exists outside of random lobbies

too often they're just straight lines, and when there's over 200 of them, they start to get very same-y. shortcuts are a crapshoot because even the game can't decide whether something is a shortcut or not, and the one line nature means many obstacles/items have less utility.

there's a short i remember that shows just how bad some of them get, one of them is literally "get in boat, be invincible for the race" because the track is so short you spend more time in vehicles than your own kart

I usually got frustrated by mario kart more than any other game on it's randomness factor, in CTR if I messed up, it was because I drifted bad, or boosted bad, didn't take the super shortcut well enough, because in that game the blue shell equivalent can be outrun, in Mario Kart, no amount of driving good lets you be faster than a blue shell.

yes i have seen its a common issue someone made a pak mod to fix the quest being broken however we cant figure out how to get any type of mods to work on the dedicated server

I have the mod channel turned off, so can't send a link for it. If the mod route is the way you choose to go, you might find help in the modding channel.

Hope there is an easy fix, or at least enough people reporting so it can be patched quickly.
