I’ll admit, I like the occasional high budget game that takes advantage of a nice system and living room setup that only AAA projects have the capacity to leverage. Hearing the rockets rush by and the explosions around you while embracing the interactive medium as an art form. It can be spendy but that’s true for any hobby.

Nintendo doesn’t really care for that level of fidelity and presentation ofc. It’s fine, there’s obviously more avenues to gaming than that, but the problem is Nintendo still charges every bit as much if not more as those who go ham on their production values anyway.

I don't remember us having a game store until I was in late middle school.

So, for me, It is hard to remember how I learned about the gamecube bc I remember super cool commercials on tv for the SNES and N64, as well as them being featured in this toy magazine that would come in the mail. But, I don't remember that for the Gamecube. I remember wanting one, I remember I specified which one I wanted, and I had a list of games.

Best I can come up with is that I saw them at a store window one day when I was taken out to buy a game.

After watching ROG Xbox Ally X review from Linus, so Microsoft is actually capable of making windows without bloatware and unnecessary background process
So why the hell they don't do the same for desktop windows

because desktop windows is a general-purpose operating system that comes with all the features because MOST users would rather have it and not need it than not have it and need it

As for why Windows doesn't let you "remove" the "bloat"
Probably because stupid people in the 2000s did exactly that and flooded their call centers with "I deleted system32 as reddit told me and now my computer won't turn on I demand a refund!!!!" so they told their software engineers "yeah don't bother"

Back on windows 7 i found the system font settings and made my computer nearly illegible with a goofy ahh mario font and wouldn't you know it, windows doesn't let you change font without complex registry editing now?
Coincidence? I think not

I haven't tried xbox so I don't have idea, but having bloatwares and those unnecessary when windows actually capable of making one without those just sucks

Guess if they don't add those on the windows, no one will download those apps they acquired like skype, telemetry, etc unless they have to (work purposes etc)

I disagree, it's more convenient to be like "I would like to [obscure feature]" and not have to find and download it first

snivyshrug windows is designed for the overwhelming majority of people that basically want to purchase a thing, and have that thing completely assembled out of the box, only needing personalization

What you're asking is like wanting cars to come with air conditioning, seat adjustment, and the horn removed and saying "well you can download them later :)"
Most users just don't wanna do that, even if it is as easy as typing sudo apt get Air_Conditioning (I totally know command line)

THe irony, of course, is that setting up a windows computer still takes several hours because you gotta download your favorite wallpaper, set your system color scheme, install your preferred web browser, install your personal applications like shareX, Notepad++, Steam, Blender, and who knows what else
