2-3 gens is probably very accurate. Series X/S has sold apparently ~30M units. N64 sold 32M, GC sold 21M. If we say that 30+M is a success, 21M is "disappointing", and Wii U's 13M is a failure. Then yeah, will probably take 2-3 gens for Xbox to die.

If the current cap of 60 was too easy to build up & get everything that you wanted, then completing everything so quickly would be the problem instead. At least with a longer grind the further one goes, you're not sitting around waiting for now content because you've obtained everything so fast. Even games that had really rough launches have continued on far longer than expected, because they added additional long grinding aspects to their gameplay. F76, The Division 2, & as much as I hate to give it credit- No Man's Sky are incredibly grindy, yet plenty of people still play them because of that. Palworld has been a success at launch, in beta, completely opposite of those 3 titles' launches. So if anything Palworld in the long run is going to benefit even more from the higher level/more grind aspect.
