It's very heavily engrained into their culture. What happens in the court case remains to be seen, the patents infringed also remain to be seen, and most importantly, everything 'predicting' or whatever else is speculation.

It's also worth mentioning that a US company would have the option of attempting to obtain an anti-suit injunction if Nintendo still filed in the Tokyo District Court. This would mean that Nintendo would be in contempt of court if they continued the suit in Japan.

This situation has taught me that Japan is legally scary, and that I can visit but not stay.
