I think when it comes to a tcg collectable, the monetary value is primarily based on the game. Imo, it becomes a scam when the card company floods the game with a card deemed a high market value.

I don't think a tc"g" should ever ne used as an investment bc of how the price fluctuates.

A baseball card has a more static value bc it has set ways for the value to change.

People buy baseball cards to collect them and for the purpose of profit (usually).
A TCG is purchased for trading and playing. You are trying to collect to complete sets, make decks, but you aren't really trying to earn money on it.

People playing the TCG will normally set and fluctuate the value of those cards bc people need to complete collections or decks for the game. Then you have people who want to collect for gain who hope to use it like baseball cards.

This is just my understanding, not actual quoted data.
