Mal's money is tight, need to buy food advice:
Download the apps to the stores around you, figure out when their sales cycle. You are going to use these to plan your shopping.
Many go in and buy what they believe to be cheap food, but, it is actually cheaper to go buy some meats on sale.
Example: my store just put whole chicken on sale. I can buy a whole chicken right now for $5.
Throw that in the oven, slow cook it so I make broth, I have many meals roght there.
Buy a bag of rice bc it is a cheap filler.
1 chicken leg/thigh = meal.
1 breast = meal
4 meals right there.
Pick the chicken and use the scraps to make another meal.

Chicken broth, some flour and butter that has been cooked in a pan (roux), little extra seasoning = chicken gravy. Make a quick chicken and rice, that is meal 5.

The tldr: watch the apps, look for sales, meal plan. You will be surprised at how many actual meals you can make that are cheaper than the quick foods/"cheap foods"

I've been buying bulk meats on sale and meal prepping them. Have beef stew and curry prepped.
Had a couple of alfredo dishes prepped, but used those up.

The store I go to had buy one get one on chicken breast, and they had it on a sale price x.x Bought 2 giant packs.
Cooked enough that night for dinner, split the rest up for future meals. Split it into 6, and each time I cook, we'll eat on it twice.

I have been cooking since I was little. I still cannot cook for one xD I just think of ways to repurpose the leftovers into a semi different meal so I am not eating the same thing multiple days in a row.

Example: I cook pork loin. We eat on it twice as is. The next day, I may turn it into pulled pork sammiches or pulled pork potatoes. Or I do pulled pork in gravy over rice or potatoes.
