I went out on a date and decided since I was at a good steak place, I was going to get myself a good steak. So, got myself a t-bone. I ate half and took the other half home to make steak and eggs the next morning.

Woke up, happily made my way to the kitchen and took out the pan, butter, eggs, couldn't find my steak.... Confusion took hold. Companies are technically only giving you a license to use the products you pay for, which is contingent on them having the distribution rights to the product in question for your area.

Despite the fact that you have it downloaded, they can still revoke your access to it if they lose their license to distribute it in your area. They might be doing that via DRM or some other means, but that's the reasoning (to my understanding).

It's really dumb, but so is capitalism.

My situation got me a ban notice from a Discord Bot about violating a rule I definitely didn't violate, so I asked mutuals on the server and they were all like "yeah, people have posted worse than anything you've posted and they got repeated warnings before only being muted for a bit, never banned".

Oh, this wasn't a ban, but years ago I was on a Minecraft server and made a macro so I could automate some stuff on my base while I did stuff outside the game. I read the rules of the server and this wasn't against them when I joined.

After a server mod found out I was doing that (by teleporting into my base randomly and watching me from above) he deleted my progress in what I was doing (all of it, even the stuff I earned legitimately), said sorry, then teleported away.

I appealed the punishment, saying I understood the situation (they updated the rules to include "no auto-clickers/macros" and gave some reasonable justification for it) and wouldn't do it again, and that I thought the punishment didn't fit the crime. Especially with no warning.

All I got in reply was basically "nah, he did nothing wrong and you shouldn't have done the thing", so I gave away what remained of my stuff and left the server.

Someone sent child pron in a discord server. Mods quickly handled the situation. A bunch of us were talking about art bc someone showed up justifying it(they were taken care of too). I was saying something along the lines of the human body being art, and that even hen tai can be art, but what was sent was not. Well, I sent my messages in 3 separate blocks. The 2nd one had the word hen tai in it and was auto deleted by the modbot.... When the first 2 were combined it made a very different message and I just immediately started pinging mods begging them to paste my deleted message bc basically the message looked like I was saying the mods shouldn't have deleted such beautiful art -.-"

A few users that were on at the time when I was explaining the situation told me to "man up and take the punishment", to which I politely explained that when you show a user that you're willing to delete their progress without so much as one verbal warning you are essentially saying that you're willing to undermine the entire reason they're on the server while also making the time they spent on the server a genuine waste.

That's kind of hilarious in hindsight, but I imagine that was stressful in the moment.

At the risk of oversimplifying:
Personally, if it's a drawing or 3D model I tend to excuse it, regardless of the content it depicts. Specifically because I have strong feelings about censorship and how it has been used by certain groups to push political agendas. For me, this willingness to excuse applies to all art in which an actual person isn't being exploited or harmed.

Put another way, my willingness to excuse uncomfortable material/accept something as art only extends to stuff made without harming/exploiting people. If someone was hurt/exploited in its creation, even if it is a drawing/3D model, I'm probably not okay with it.

That said, I'm fine with restricting certain things, just not outright censoring.
