We had a process here for checking certain documentation. "I" had to fill out a form before it went to a checking process. Before it went there, I was to fill out this form, have a designer do most the work, then mark up the form every time the designer made a mistake. The more it is marked up, the less likely the designer is to get a raise.

This form is awful, so, I would only mark it if they did something that was obviously their job and they messed up, I wouldn't mark it for my mistakes that they didn't catch or administration type things, that is my job to catch and correct, that was idiotic to me to mark them for it.

Now, the form had a section for the checking process person to write up. That guy would mark up the documentation that was my part for every little thing, including missing punctuation he thought should be there, capitalization not in the correct spot (this came about from databases being updated bc someone wanted a different naming convention or LiKeD TyPiNg like that, I had to match that exactly or it was a mark against the designer and they(designer) DID NOT have any authority to work this area).

Well, these documents would get to a few hundred pages. To make it easier on the checking person, I would put an index for them. I sat there on my lunch break making an index. One day he told me, "you know if you mess up, I have to put every index number on that form." I whipped around, bc that angerered me. I told him, "I use my lunch break to put that on there for you, to make it easier for you. I won't be adding anymore." You can only get a few marks before you are brought in to be questioned about your performance. That would have gotten my designers fired.
