You're fighting the pal/human duo and you see something wrong - the Pal's health sometimes depletes for no reason, and the human's replenishes, you eventually pick up that the human is actively stealing the pal's health via technology collar or something and the Pal doesn't actually want to be there and looks distressed.

You get the human low enough to where he kills his pal to regain his health, he kicks it aside, calls it useless, then engages you with full fury.

The boss fight gets about three times harder
