You can change the intervals of the autosave function and the timing for steam cloud uploads in your config files for the game. That might not safeguard completely against crashes but it will make sure to back up your data more often than normal

i then logged out for a week+ meaning it was 100% saved, logged back in that day, played for a LONG time, crashed 3x and it reset the tutorial, reset my map and even played the into cutscene for me again
