I like console. Just convenient. Like my wife and I can have games going independently and the exactly state the game was left is where it can be loaded to. So we hit the on button, and just get right back where we were. Easy peasy. Then I upgrade for $500-$600 every half decade or so. Just easier.

I get the benefits of PC, but I haven’t upgraded since the 1080ti was new. And I’m not a casual gamer by any means. Consoles just make it so simple. The only draw back are all these titles locked to 30fps. But that’s been less a problem than ever. Gamepass being like Netflix, I’ve got a little system going now lol.

And then I bought a laptop for my old PC games. Fallout 1 and 2, for example.

Newest Pokémon was very disappointing, honestly. Biggest media franchise ever can’t release optimize or even optimize post release? Silly. I’m done with Nintendo. Replace my portable with a Steam Deck, ditch the laptop. Xbox on the TV. Everything easy.

I won’t lie, I used to tinker with settings more than I’d play. First few days with a game. Weirdly obsessive. Best CPU, best GPU, quiet cooling, amazing monitor. Yada yada.

But more to your point. I do think that mentality of graphics over substance is partly to blame for crazy buggy full releases. And also, online gaming having so many ways to be monetized.

I prefer a good story, good mechanics, and something with plenty to indulge.

I managed to make one spawn items, kill all pals, telport all pals, give xp, etc, so almost anything. I stopped messing with it after a day or so because it wasn't as interesting as some other games were.

(Note: I did this all on a private dedicated server and did not release it.)
