I think the hype will die down in a month or two and it will still be popular, but you won't see people racing to it like they are now.

Longevity, the creators seem like they have a goal and are going to, at the very least, give us a stable game with hours of game play. They are already working towards adding new content and asking players for their choices for new content.

As for game play time, that is up to you as to whether this is your style of game. Even if the game grows, you need to determine if this base gameplay is your style or you will lose interest pretty fast.
