i just took the time to make a usersetting ini file edit

makes the game look worse, but should make it easier on low end systems.

the game also seemed to auto reset some values when launched so you can only take them to a certain point without significantly more work or deleting texture files/meshes

This is assuming you are on Windows and playing singeplayer or are the host
If you are not using Windows, you need to find the Pal folder on your own.  If you are not the host, send this to the host
1: Hold down the Windows key and press R
2: Type in %APPDATA% and press enter
3: Go to local, then pal, then saved, then savegames, and then the folder with a bunch of numbers
4: This is the location of all your worlds.  Find the one with the timestamp that matches the time you last saved
5: In that folder is one called Players.  This is where player data is stored.  If you are playing singleplayer, skip the next step.
6: Now you need to find your Player ID number.  Look around in the players folder of other saves to find the file name that appears in all of them, as that is most likely your ID.  
7: Now that you have found your player data, copy that to somewhere else like your desktop.  
8: Load into the world again and make a new character.  This will generate a new Player ID for you.  
9: Go back into the players folder and find the file that wasn’t there before.  This is your new Player ID.
10: Go to the file that you copied earlier and rename it to the name of the new file.  This will associate the player data from before to the new ID
11: Move the file back into the players folder.  It should ask you if you want to replace the existing file.  Click yes
12: Load back into the world.  You should have your old character back

When I was little, my dad's work would do family business trips. Being the oldest, I would be the one to take my younger siblings to breakfast in the hotels. Well, one trip, they booked a rather nice one with a restaurant in it instead of just free breakfast. We went down and since I was young, the waitress basically ignored me. We couldn't get plates to go get food (was an order at the buffet line type deal) nor could we get drinks, I had to ask a very busy waiter if he could get stuff for us.
At the end, when she left the bill on the table while we were getting food, I asked the waiter, "Since you were the one who actually waited on us, is there a way I could put a tip here and you get it?" He explained "no". So, I put $0.00 for the tip and charged it to the room so my dad could pay.
The waitress stopped me and as sweetly as could be explained, "sweety, this is where you are supposed to write a tip, not 0." I looked at her and go, "I know". The waiter almost died laughing.

She had the manager call my dad in the room to explain I didn't understand how payment works so he could correct it. I already explained the situation to him and he chewed out the manager for our bad service and their audacity for calling up blaming me, we were given a bunch of complimentary things XD.
