Streaming for my SO yesterday and came up with this absolutey horrifying thing.

Oblivion characters are either serious or absolutely comical characters, no in between

I also started a current run again and I always try my hardest to make my characters look somewhat fitting

Hardest part has probably been the nose, but outta all I've created, I wanna say the current Dunmer lass turned out quite well

It's always the nose with Oblivion and trying to "shape up" the face to make it look less rounded for me

She looks great, by the way! Dunmer, Bosmer or Imperial are my go-to race choices!

bought Morrowind after to learn a bit more about their lore and have been in love ever since

I also have this weird habit lately to write a continuous story, hence my Morrowind character is the father of my Oblivion character, who is the mother of my Skyrim character

Understandable! I normally plot out what kind of character and a brief backstory for the character, then match the race to that.

Morrowind was my first one (and the first above E rated game I was allowed to play when it came out and I've been in love ever since, the gameplay, the lore all of it!

Explaining people that a game set in Black Marsh would extremely limit how much you can explore unless they species lock you as an Argonian or throw some unique Player Character ability in to allow a non-Argonian to go deeper than the outskirts

Exactly. It's why I'm such a sharp critic of a lot of aspects about Skyrim in particular. My first one was Morrowind on the original Xbox back in 2002

oblivion is the most paint by numbers fantasy ever but its made up for by having very fun quest writing and ideas

Skyrim is just a power fantasy. Like, it doesn't have the campiness of Oblivion nor does it have that feeling of progress Morrowind had.

I still adore Skyrim but even on release especially the guilds and some quests/story design I was like "That's it?"

I'm certain that we'll be blown away with Witcher 4 graphics wise. Not 100% sure about gameplay because 3 was great, Im not sure how they'll top it. Maybe they'll look at the most popular witcher 3 mods that change gameplay slightly and UI upgrades. But who knows at this point. Its too early to tell.

Need bigger, better CPUs for that, but I think IBM hit the limit for how small transistors can be, so I’m a little worried about the possibility we might not get the super awesome sci-fi technology we see in the movies video game wise.

Yeah, we've been bumping against the limits of cpu miniaturization for a while now. I'm super interested to see what technology gets invented in the next 20 or so years because if we can't just nake processors smaller we'll have to be more creative with new solutions

So far quantum computings been making progress. I wonder how long it will take for it to get to consumer level. Maybe in 20-30 years?

I honestly have no idea. I don't know that much about quantum computing

One thing I do know is that quantum isn't just magically faster, you need specific algorithms built for a quantum computer for it to work

Another thing I wish to see more of in the future is analogue computing. Veritasium had a good video about it a while back and I think it would be suoer cool if computers in the future had both digital and analogue modules

Those specific algorithms would just be low level abstractions right? Eventually given enough time, higher and higher level abstractions will be created on top of it to the point that languages similar to C would be able to be written and used I'm assuming. Or the languages could be completely different for all we know. It still has to get there before we are certain.

As far as I am.aware the algorithms are medium level stuff like prime factorization of whatever. So maybe a future programming language could get compiled into either quantum or classical code but there's not anything like that nowadays

something like C I don't think will ever be able to be run on a quantum computer

Yeah quantum computing should be considered a separate branch of computing, not like just an improvement of what we have now

I'm almost through it with 40, I've always stopped at 40 with Dark Souls and Bloodborne. 40 tends to be the soft cap in From Soft games due to the diminishing returns

I think the level for everything being 99 is like 715 or so?

Granted, when it comes to builds and stats I have a bit of bias toward how I do things since this is my fifth game with similar mechanics (Dark Souls 1-3, Bloodborne, Elden Ring).

• Talismans and Great Rune I can compensate for stopping at 40 Vigor and the amount of damage I can put out with either of my primary builds

I loved Bloodborne. Especially how it breaks any/all muscle memory and stuff you may try to carry over from Dark Souls and Elden Ring by encouraging an aggressive playstyle as opposed to the more methodical playstyle of Dark Souls and Elden Ring

yeah I was overwhelmed and then I said screw it and just started doing stuff and figuring it out, googled what the stats were for after, I played the game like 1/3rd of the way through without understanding what stats meant besides the 3 bars on the HUD and what weapons scaling meant. I was fighting stuff with a worse weapon because I just thought the base number being higher was good and didn't know what the letter grade meant

FML my Elden Ring Save File corrupted after the most recent update and I tried many many different things to try to fix it with 0 luck. All the "fixes" did was crash the game upon loading the save file. 295 hours just lost like that. Make sure to make a backup of your save files if you don't want this to happen again. Also, don't turn off your PC if the game is running as that can also corrupt the game 😦

One PC is for my accessibility software and school work, while the other one is for high end gaming and 3D rendering, while I also have an old macbook pro and now I just got a windows 11 laptop for my computer programming classes. The 3 consoles are the original Xbox, a 360, and and XboxONE. I also have 3 Nintendo DS's and a 3DS. I suppose I could get a switch eventually to explore the Zelda games and Pokemon games, as well as the Mario games

Easiest and fastest way yo get the is take the fast travel to the NCaart station at Metro: Congress and MLK

from there face away from the station an go up to the sidewalk and turn right

Head north a short ways until you see a a sign for Advocet Hotel. Move a little to your left with your back to the sign. you will see an alcove with a door, it will open to a lobby that looks kind of trashed. to your left enter the elevator and press Terrace. when you get out, you will be in a small room. run straight forward it will be night and raining. you have to jump a little ways to the grating which you run down the steps. a couple main reasons: Skyrim is an extremely accessible game. It's very simple to play and can be played by anyone without reading or thinking or doing anything very difficult (this is not inherently a bad thing). It took the mainly established Bethesda formula at that point and refined it into just a structured aesthetic world for people to get lost in and direct questlines. Morrowind has a very "strange" setting, which is why a lot of people love it the most, and Oblivion has a very high fantasy setting which not everyone can get into, Fallout 3 was the same but with the post apocalyptic thing, Skyrim is vikings and dragons = easy.

There was also the controversy over Oblivion's ESRB rating that killed a lot of its momentum with younger audiences being locked out. Oblivion was originally rated T like Morrowind but was changed to M very alike to what happened with GTA:SA. You could read more about it but basically there was a nude skin in the game that modders were able to unlock, even though it wasn't actually visible in the game. The M rating of Skyrim didn't really matter since Bethesda was already much more established at that point.

Also a lot of it was just the matureness of the platforms by that time. Oblivion came out like 4-5 months after the PS3 and 360 came out so they were still really new. Skyrim came out years later so there was just so many more people who were on the platform and ready for a big major game release.

Bethesda also marketed it like crazy, basically marketing it as an interactive movie. For other RPGs the marketing would be focused on the features or the tech or the gameplay and for Skyrim they marketed the world, the setting, the music, and the visuals. The tech and all were still definitely improved and talked about, it just wasn't the focus because they wanted to get new fans in, not just the same RPG gamer fanbase as from before, which goes back to point 1 here.

Really just a lot of specifically made decisions plus timing plus luck made it more widely popular, even though it was a downgrade in many ways from the previous titles.

It was great honestly, very good script and graphics, def worth playing. There’s 84 (?) different endings so you can go all different routes… what makes this game special is how every single choice has influence on all the characters so you’re playing for a full house hahaha

@dusky void first playthrough was on the XBox One and the only major problem i was experiencing was my game freezing if i drove too fast through cities, lol. it wasnt enough to make me stop playing tho. ive never even witnessed the famous T pose bug, haha. loved the story, gameplay, loved netrunning, using mantis blades. so much fun! i really hope Phantom delivers. this game deserves a second chance

Oh, absolutely. I had some pretty bad glitches with some character interactions, random occurences in the world, cars randomly going on the fritz while driving, etc. Archangel song glitch on the Johnny Silverhand mission of course.

Granted, I was abit jaded because I'd known about Cyberpunk/followed it well before they even made a video game for it and was just a TTRPG

I was on the Nocturne mission when I stopped first playthrough because I wanted to wait and see if a NG+ got released before I beat it.

Even with the latest patch/without the 2.0 patch and DLC it still feels like a drastically different game imo
