I actually like it when it's hard to piece the lore together. For example, there are games like Outer Wilds or Exanima that do it pretty well. The thing is: in both Exanima and Outer Wilds the characters don't talk to you with riddles, they talk to you like normal human beings and you can even ask them questions. When you find some object somewhere it doesn't come with a history class written in the description of that object - it just says "Just some random ass ring I found in this place". When you find something that wasn't described before - you won't find any descriptions for it anywhere in the inventory, you need to actually learn about that stuff to know what it is and what it does instead of the game telling that to you somewhere in the description and then you are left to guess if that's a game talking to you, the player, directly or is it just a knowledge that your playable character had in his/her mind and you are learning it by "reading that mind". Do you understand what I mean?
