They don’t really get hot unless you slot them in directly under your GPU, which most mid range boards have a heatsink for.

Otherwise, 30c for the NAND and 40c for the board is fine in terms of temps, which is what they usually run at.

My 970 EVO runs at 35/46 respectively for 4 years now and is still perfectly healthy

I'd love to have every reason to step away from W11, particularly because it's W11. I don't mind being part of the herd when it makes sense and never really saw a reason to forgo decent windows versions for Linux, but windows is losing more and more of of why I used it

I just don't want to half code my own OS to do anything. I don't mind getting into window's guts to do something specific or a little more advanced but I really don't want to go the command line until I wind up knowing it like the back of my hand in addition to compatability problems. Everyone's been saying Linux is great for decades and then I see them type 3 pages of code just to do something. I'm sure it's a lot better these days but when I switch I don't want it to be a grudging tradeoff you know?

I think windows peaked at either XP or 7 tbh though my first time ever using a PC growing up would've either been windows 95 or 98. It was user friendly and to the point but it was also easy to do more advanced level stuff with it when you had to. Oh and neither one took up like 10gb of ram at idle

I first wanted a real gaming PC when I discovered mods for morrowind were a thing and that the family pentium 3 ran the game at minimum at like 15fps. So I basically sold myself into hard labor for a year for a PC and then added even more work on top of that for 6 months to put a 7900GTX in it but man was it great to be at the absolute forefront of gaming during that era, oblivion came out and I got to run it at max settings

But... if I ever clean another damned horse stall or pen ever again it'll be too soon, even if it's not during an Arizona summer
