I have never owned a desktop Intel CPU in the last, ~20ish years I have been building PC's. These are all for myself and friends and family mind you but AMD all the way. You could call me a fanboy.

However I did only have Nvidia GPU's till my 6800XT. I don't think I'll be going back to Nvidia anytime soon, the Nvidia tax is too damn high.

I put WOW on the list because while there are a number of choices that alter your playthrough, such as starting faction/race, and different "crafting" systems to engage in, its still incredibly linear, but only gives the illusion of openness. But also so much of WOW:Classic is literally "the freinds you make along the way" that it becomes more open ended the more you engage in the social component

so its an open question whether it belongs on the list

its not like sandbox MMOs like Runescape, Lineage, Star Wars Galaxies, etc

Also, Starcraft is on the list, where Age of Empires is not, because the campaign is a striaght shot, run through, AOE is kinda unguided? You can do whatever campaign you want whenever you want, and so even to this day have missed content because I just don't see the point in doing it?

Another great comparison is Gran Turismo 7 vs something like iRacing or RFactor2. GT7 has a great offline single player component, but iRacing/RFactor2 is totally self-guided, whatever you want to do, so I just don't do anything, and uninstall the game.

I expect developers to have an experience in mind when I come to their game, and I want to see what it has to offer. I don't like when they don't even know what experience they want the player to have, and expect the player to devise their own fun?

There are games that focus on the game part, like quake, 1.6, UT, and there are games that focus on the sandbox, "emergent behavior", a "sandbox of toys" for the user to create their own fun with.
