Rebel's pretty much spot on; since Anomaly has more options than CoC so you can really tailor it to your machine & capacity. It's sorta built from scratch as well so it's a lot more stable than CoC as well, unless you start modding the heck out of it.
(The super-secret pro trick is to turn grass size & distance down since this, weirdly, accounts for like 75% of all performance issues) 🌱 🌱 🌱 🤫 🌱 🌱
Difficulty-wise; CoC is closer to the main games in terms of difficulty, but still harder. Anomaly's difficulty is weird to quantify since you can adjust almost every single aspect of it manually & there aren't any preset difficulty settings other than the 'starting points' you get at the very beginning that just set everything to a rough point that you can tweak later. You also need to have a pretty solid hold on the basic S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mechanics for Anomaly since it throws A LOT of new stuff at you really really quickly!

I turned the grass size & density up to max once to see what it would do and, while it ran, I had like 1-2FPS and an average comp temperature of "THIS IS NOT OKAY"°C. 🤣

@supple veldt I recall it appearing in either AO3 or STCoP, I believe it's a 4x4 hunting scope, it pops up every now and then, the mod creator probably left it in by mistake via the treasure_manage.ltx. Adding it's name to the list can disable it from appearing in future stashes for only a new game, if I recall correctly.

Just started CoP after playing through SoC and CS past week or so

I'm running into two problem so I was hoping someone here can maybe help me figure those out

Two things I've been trying to fix: I cannot for the life of me find a control for toggling crouch even though online I can find people all over the place saying it's in the controls? Am I just blind or something or where is it? It was in the first two games so it should be in here right? Toggling the crouch was is a crucial part of my movements so would love to figure that out.

Second question is more difficult.. I've currently installed the AtmosFear and Complete Nature mods and am really digging the Original Weapons Renewal (over AO) as well as the Massive Simulation Overhaul. But I cannot for the life of me work out how to get those two to work together. I've been looking around in WinMerger in attempts to merge the two mods but I'm not a skilled enough scripter just yet so I'm hoping someone here maybe figured out a solution for that earlier?

the rule of thumb for any s.t.a.l.k.e.r. game is to keep multiple saves for when SHTF. Also, Call of Chernobyl is very buggy and won't get patched in the near future, or ever for that matter.

May I suggest upgrading to Call of the Zone instead? https://www.moddb.com/mods/doctorx-call-of-the-zone It is version of CoC that was heavily modified by DoctorX. He's famous for creating LTTZ storyline for Call of Chernobyl based games. That project was simply a warmup for him that eventually lead to him creating the version of CoC he originally wanted. However, Call of the Zone is a relatively new mod, meaning addons for it are close to none. However, since it is closely based off of CoC, some addons can be ported to CoTZ with little to no merging.

I have 2 friends who are die hard extremist fans. Played all the vanilla games a few times, beat misery, beat anomaly, play with other mods, etc. They are just happy to see someone taking interest in the game and if I have any questions about lore or atmosphere I ask them.

I'm not God modding, cheating in items, using a trainer, spawning money, forcing daytime, etc etc. So I'd like to think what I'm doing is still pretty honest for how I am enjoying the game.

If I get that attached before stalker 2, I can always buy the games on steam and play them vanilla.

what the difference between dead air and anomaly, i kinda want to go with dead air as it much bleaker and darker, and has the same vibe as my call of chernobyl mods

dead air as i said a bit harder. some trader not dont sell weapons to you, applying medkit takes some time, enemies kills you in 2-3 bullets, they die in 2-3 bullets, mutants has weak spots in which you should shoot

anomaly is more coc-like, but you always can download some mods to improve your gameplay.

still anomaly has some misery(and dead air) gameplay features

CoC is alright with addons, i heard the warfare one is pretty good
