Motivation and purpose to do things is the backbone of the games, and that is what quests provide. Not that the sandbox mods are without anything to do, they just don't provide much that feels fulfilling at the end, just stuff to occupy your time

Well it's a long road to making a total conversion, to make a total conversion you gotta know how to deal with stalkers files and how to manipulate em plus how to script stuff to your liking
What you're gonna needs is LUA 5.3, make sure you're learning the correct version, 5.4 is the newest and not the one stalker uses, but I would say start by doing small stuff
Start by changing some lines of dialogue here, adding small equipment there, maybe spawn a character thru a script, a total conversion is a big project and you shouldn't jump into it head first, if you need help try going to the C-Con server and looking into the Anomaly Modding Book and Stalker Modding Wiki

Having some oddities with Anomaly. i'm nearing the end of my SoC pure Vanilla (other than ZRP) replay and I wanted to install anomaly 1.5.3 just to have it on my pc and have it available for after i finish CS and COP.

As it was my first time through it I spent quite some time optimizing my performance to hit a rock solid stable 60 at 1440p on my 3060 rig. I had flipped through the DX settings to see what was the best ratio of performance and aesthetics and ran into the following issues:

-DX11: Everything runs very well until I shoot any weapon. For some reason the muzzle flash effects tank my fps by 20 for the few frames they're active

-DX10: Muzzle flash lag is entirely gone but the game refuses to load if motion blur is turned on, no matter the values it's set to. Freezes as soon as "Press any button" flashes after the loading screen. I may be seeing things but it seems like while I'm hitting a stable 60 I have some small jitters now and then caused by what I assume to be frame pacing, although this isn't a big deal.

This is a full vanilla install with only the modded EXE's being installed as I understand they'll be necessary for modding down the line.
