I'd say Shadow of Chernobyl is actually the most playable, vanilla, of all the STALKER games. You should have no problem getting hundreds of frames per second on a modern gaming PC and it's relatively stable. However, you can download Zone Reclamation Project, a fan-made, cumulative patch for most known bugs in the game here: https://www.metacognix.com/files/stlkrsoc/index.html. It even allows for some basic tweaks that are mostly QoL improvements, but if you want a pure vanilla experience, simply installing the mod into your game is good enough. The Web 1.0 website it's hosted on looks a little sketch, but this is one of the oldest, most well-known, and trusted mods out there.

GA removes almost all of the arsenal and rebalances the entire game,I mean,AMK balancing isn't the best but it's better than GA OGSR balancing,since you don't have consumable animations,and a slowed down speed to pull you down
Just remember to turn off hit effects and healing consumables downsides in the configurator,if you are hit in a critical part your aim will bounce right you and down for 2-3 seconds and that leaves you too open for a second shot that'll just kill you

All that GA adds is a some AI stuff that makes AI worse and a few visual effects

To begin with I want to learn how to change or replace objects in the game, like changing the color of a car or replacing a tractor with a truck for example. Also paranoid about getting viruses, so prefer to only download tools from safe places like GitHub, Nexus and ModDB.

To replace a object you can create a new 3d model compatible with the bones structure of the original model and swamp them, if still not enough then you will need the sdk and open the extracted level in a level editor

I’m totally new to modding. Sylky was kind enough to provide the links below, but when trying to install PavelBlend from GitHub, by following the instructions in the second link, I could not figure out which file or subfolder in the unzipped PavelBlend folder I should use. Can anyone please help me with this? By the way, I used 7-Zip to extract PavelBlend. Is that the correct way to do it? In the linked video I can see that his zip file has some numbers where I got “develop”. But I downloaded my zip by clicking on “Code” and “Download Zip” in GitHub/PavelBlend/blender-xray, so what could have gone wrong?

For new players we recommend going in vanilla but if you must I'd only recommend zrp with absolute structure and nature and nothing else
But wha I recommend the most for a newcomer is vanilla

Cool, one more thing, be careful with joined parts, theres a glitch in blender, if join parts previously separated the bone parent may not work, make the parent for all parts and then join

Use ZRP 1.07
Then go to the root folder of the game and open fsgame.ltx with a notepad program,look for the GAMEDATA line and change the false to true,save and close,and then unpack ZRP 1.07 into he folder
For Absolute Nature and Structure you need to unpack each to a different folder since they use a dedicated installed
Just unpack,run the installer and input the game location

There is no mod launcher for SoC,you will manually be dropping the mods and overwritting files
And unpacking literally just means opening a rar or zip file and out tint them elsewhere
So open ZRP and drop it inside the root folder,if it asks you to overwrite anything click yes for everything

MO2 is only useful for games/mods where removing the files you added is an effective way of uninstalling something. If other files are created, you won't be uninstalling them by unticking the mod.

Anomaly is a completely different game to SoC, heck it's a different game to CoP.

I just started playing SoC for the first time after realizing anomaly was not the stalker game to start with. I’m playing on veteran and it was a little challenging at first but I’m winning firefights no problem now. Just use that quick save feature

Also, the game can crash.. its pretty well documented that SoC will crash occasionally. I've seen it on people streaming the game and it happens to me occasionally, which cheats you as a player. I dont feel bad about using the quick save feature.

G'day, I'm looking for some standalone STALKER mod that will allow me to experience some faction warfare sandbox while introducing no or as few as possible fancy new mechanics like having to worry about food quality or billion new items (Arsenal Overhaul for SOC was already an overkill). I just wanna start up as a Mercenary, grab an LR300 and start blasting bandits left and right like in Clear Sky (which I've managed to enjoy, despite how bad it was) with bandit radio playing in the background
I'm really unsure if Anomaly is the right pick for that.

I'm running 1.5.1
TLDR: stash/quest item is invisible/not present in the spot it should be and demo_record 1 hasn't helped me find it

I was playing with the Azazel mode one and have ended up disabling it part of the way thru the playthrough cuz i got a spawn that didn't immediately kill me.

Playing as duty, went to Yantar to sell stuff at the mobile lab and collect some secret documents barkeep in rostok wants

outside of the entrances to the sci lab there's an old truck with some dead bodies in and around it. quest marker is telling me the stuff i need for barkeep is directly on the spot the truck is. I've gotten on top of it, crawled under it, checked the bodies around it, noclipped around and cannot find the folder
i can get photos if those will help more, idk what's going kn

@ebon tusk i was just mainly after some pointers in the right direction regarding soc modding. what i would like to achieve is changing the ejected shell path with the 2 pump shotguns. ive been repositioning weapons past couple of days and removing the iron sight fov zoom and in doing so i noticed for the first time in my 4 years stalking that the shells dont leave the screen and zip back into the gun. i cannot unsee this now. ive found some animation mods like srap that fix this but i dont want the other changes that come with it like sounds etc so i guess this would mean modifying the default spas12hud.ogf mesh file. im just curious how to do so as ive not tinkered with modding outside of the basic messing with ltx and xml files.

this happens bc you have pushed the FOV so far back that you can see things that youre not supposed to,this is standard affair for game animations,these things are reused bc really there is no need to have 2 be spawned,so to fix these youll have to change the animations themselves

the ppl at the C-Con server can help you better,tell them what you want to do and they'll help you

yeah thats what i originally thought. i have the games on gog and steam so i downloaded the vanilla steam version with no changes and had a look there and its still present. the spas shell does a loop back into the chamber and the Winchester leaves the screen then zips back in within a few frames. its so weird as i just cant usee it now. i even looked up some weapon showcase videos on youtube and you can see it there too. kinda weird it took so long for me to notice

Should i play Call of the Zone before jumping into Gamma? I've read call of the Zone has better quests while Gamma has a lot of content

And gamma seems way more difficult, maybe its better to get some experience by playing call of the zone

I could get 500 hours but that doesn't mean it has a lot of content if I'm doing the same thing over and over again

The most grind you're ever gonna have here is

1. Finding an exo (good luck lmao
2. Finding the expert tools (depending on your luck)
3. Finding a very specific gun

If you're looking to finish the main quests and get the best gear you're gonna play for roughly 50 hours, more or less depending on how you play, and most of it is grinding

Nothing to be ashamed of, mind you. I love BL2 and it has a lot of content but a lot of it is about grinding.
