Lol yeah. The color is right for the sky, but it's a bit saturated. I've since desaturated the color a bit so now it's more greyish blue to match an overcast sky color.

Vanilla isn't color realistic, but it still looks good. Sky still fades to grey as you can see in bad weather. I used a histogram to balance the RGB and luminosity then adjusted color saturation, hue, and value to match actual colors. So I used grass green as a reference for my greens, sky blue for the sky, overcast sky color for the saturation, etc...

It's all relative to color. Stalker is far from the first game to add a sepia-tint like color to the game which means orange and red are the dominant colors. I balanced all of that and matched in-game colors to real world colors then adjusted accordingly.

I'm using ReShade. One shader in particular is like a mini Adobe Lightroom shader that has a histogram, color remapper, lift/gamma/gain adjust, tone adjust, etc....it's not free, but a free alternative from the same shader author is called Lightroom from Marty McFly (qUINT).

Basically I balanced the colors and luminosity of the game using the histogram as my guide then then matched some of them to their real world counterparts as close as I could.

I THINK what at least some of it comes down too is also the lack of fidelity- the graphics are so dated that the brain almost fills in the gaps fir you, providing the sense of actually more detail and depth. The same thing happens to me with the old (superior in this case) Insurgency.

I don’t dislike any game for outfated graphics- if a games good it’s good, and Original Stalkers are fantastic. I don’t know, Anomaly just really hits a spot with me though- all nicely bundled up into what is for me the ultimate Stalker Immersion and thus experience. I’ll never kack on the originals as they hold a dear place in my heart and are amazing accomplishments- plus without them- no Anomaly and all the other great choices we get via modding.

I struggle finding them even in Dark Valley, was looking for a hidden package with it, took about an hour, maybe more. Got a Seraphim out of it tho

Yeah when its beeping, you know youre in the right place, just gotta find a direction where the beeps get more frequent. Also, the static noise becomes more quiet as you get closer
