two damn hours i'm try harding to make my call of chernobyl mod running again and nothing is happening, first, i launched the game, there was no sound, well f*ck it, it wasn't my headset. i uninstall it and re-upload it, now, there is the sound, i can create a character, but, when it's loading, and when the loading is ended, the game crash (it just happened when i putted a french translation)

many players probably get turned off just by the unending convos of vanilla and some exaggerated anecdotes of glitches and crashes

the only "game breaking" bug I've encountered was having weird static effects and artifacts on my screen. or some enemies' meshes were messed up from long distance. Nothing that a restart couldn't fix but still a bug. Also the game seems to get stuck on loading screens a lot recently for me. I've had times that I played for days with no bugs but all of a sudden can't play for more than 2 hours at a time without having to restart.

hmm I'll try that and it might work with the weird artifacts but from my nvidia's overlay and fps counter I'm pretty sure the game goes into "not responding" state sometimes while loading and I can only fix that by restarting.

I think people should get the experience the developers intended on their first playthrough, I’m something between a purist and a crazy modder. ZRP and SRP are closer to what the developers intended than pure broken vanilla. Glitches are still glitches, mistakes in the game’s design, and they reflect poorly on the game beyond each individual one hurting the experience. ZRP and SRP take most of those problems away while maintaining the experience the developers intended.

That happened with me. Game was practically a broken mess when I first tried to play it years ago so I didn't even bother with it. Then just a few weeks ago I gave it yet another of several go's. It's still crazy buggy, but it was worth the entire playthrough. Played vanilla. Then tried the complete mod w/ ENB, which I hear is the least endorsed way to play it. I just recently installed ZRP, and intend to get the "true" ending. Anyhoo. ShOC is awesome.

Yeah especially in shadow of Chernobyl it’s really bad however you can use the glitchy nature of the game to your advantage for example ever wanted to repair your gun? Go to yantar and find a zombified Loner using a handgun drop your broken gun in front of him and let him pick it up then kill him it should be repaired when you take it from his inventory
