rest of Dutyers didn't became hostile to me because I completed Kitsenkos quests about purging the blind dogs which increases rep with duty and killed Skull and Dutyers with the knife without turning them hostile

i suspect its the case of not completing any quests that increase your relation with Duty and agro-ing Skull that resulted in Rostok Dutyers becoming hostile @thin osprey

I usually completed Kitsenkos quest about purging the dogs few times before entering AW, so I always suspected it was the case of me having good-ish relation with Duty that never caused rest of Dutyers becoming hostile after I killed Skull and his guys

Out of my 9 playthrough I only managed to complete it just once and even that was by luck. Mutants weren't spawning at all

The trick is, they can spawn at either level changer. Plus many dogs sneak from the RF/AW level changer, along the edge of the AW, going to the Cabin by the Rocks.

If you only wait to Protect Border at the Barrier, the task can expire after 24 hours.

See all my failures? Most all of those are from not fighting the Bandits when they attack Loners in the Agrorprom. I think the 1.5.10 patch prevented the Player from getting so many failures.

It is really difficult. You have to avodi talking to them at some locations until you turn them green. Never take a job from Bandits at level changer. When you return for your reward, they can go hostile. Never try to move past Bandits at a level changer. Wait until an Emission hits and they scatter.

Did you notice with each game since SoC, it becomes harder and harder to drag bodies? Faster to make sprint trips that slow body dragging. This is one of the last times I dragged bodies from all over the Cordon back to the cemetery.

I dragged the three Ecologists near the hole in the fence (Red Forest) all the way down the dead-end road, to the unused bunker, just to make this screenshot. @topaz moat

I had totally forgotten there were two versions of this until now (from 2007) because I remembered the one, where I was able to drop the gun in his hand and the top one did not show that. I think the bodies and gun shifted (the top screenshot) when I would leave the level and return. The bottom screenshot does a better job showing the dual stash chests that my gun covered up with the top one. I think that is why I usually share the bottom screenshot, to show the dual chests which is a huge clue where you are exactly located in SoC. People generally get thrown off by not expecting Ecologists here. Good times.

I dragged the two Ecologists into the elevator in X-18. This screenshot would also confuse people since elevators are always empty.

This is the same way I kill the Chernobyl Dog in the Red Forest in SoC. I like to always cut through the Red Forest instead of using the road.

I don't know if anyone plays this really old Mod (2007) called Priboi Story. It was one of the very first and it was so influential, the plot from it was used by GSC in Call of Pripyat.

This was Dez0wave's first big Mod. However, they are better known for their 2nd Mod "Lost Alpha".

The Clear Sky Marshes is a huge opportunity to do so many things that no other level has. Rushing out of the Marshes with a crappy weapon, crappy armor and no artifacts is the worst thing you can do. Through the use of looting, rewards and buying stash information from Nimble, you should be able to activate at least up to 50 stashes. However there has been a time constraint. You have about 3 days to do all this before they start disappearing. At a minimum I'm usually in the Marshes 2 to 3 weeks before leaving to go to the Cordon. The Marshes has more stashes to activate in it than any other level in the game.

SG was a teenager when he started the company in 1995. GSC produced many, many games before Stalker. When they shutdown in 2012, SG had never taken a break from his company in 17 years.

From what I understand, SG wanted Stalker 2 to reclaim the magic and exploration of the first game SoC. Instead, the workers gave him another Faction Wars game like Clear Sky. They did not produce what he wanted.

Now SG's younger brother and his wife are the ones behind delivering Stalker 2.

Most people want massive battles and massive mutant fights with endless items like in Anomaly or Gamma. CotZ is the opposite of that. It's like CoC but the isolation and exploration of SoC. It's more chill.

Not him, but, at one point they gave up on the idea of having Oblivion Lost take place on various planets and switched over to Crimea, where an alien satellite directing evolution of life on Earth over millions of years, called the Black Monolith would have crashed, causing the local wildlife to enter a state of hyper-evolution. The idea was further developed and GSC decided to add a NPP in Crimea exploding to the mix. Then Sergiy visited Chernobyl which left an impression on him and he decided to make the game take place there. Some team members opposed this as the disasted was still in recent memory, but they changed their minds when he took them to the exclusion zone. Now where did the tonal shift come from was never explained, but my guess is there was a lot of futuristic shooters on the market at the time and they decided to make something novel.

Maybe that was worded poorly. A "Phantom Bloodsucker" is just like a regular Bloodsucker, except it has the ability to project phantoms of itself. So, quite often if the Phantom Bloodsucker (real) sees you first, it can project phantoms of itself to attack you, which is what happened here. Since I was in Pripyat, I was having phantoms of all types of mutants attacking me. When I noticed it was nothing but phantom Bloodsuckers in higher frequency, as my visibility meter went off, I knew a real Bloodsucker, who was projecting those phantoms and was about to attack me. I was trying to focus on the real Bloodsucker at the same time the phantoms were attacking me. That is what I was trying to describe, real ones and phantoms ones in the same attack, even though the Phantom Bloodsucker (real) was creating those phantoms. The screenshot is showing I'm being attacked by real and phantoms, even though we both know the real one is creating the phantoms. There are also regular Karliks and Phantom Karliks.

The futuristic sci-fi setting was a natural extension of "Codename Outbreak" aka "Venom" that GSC released in 2001. It had an excellent Companion mode, where you could actually switch bodies back and forth and move supplies to the Player and Companion, to get them to help you carry more. I think they played around with some ideas, but it just didn't expand or develop beyond the demo stages. Then some member of the team got the inspiration to replace that, with the Stalker idea (no doubt influenced by the movie and book) that developed quickly into a change of setting, which was much easier to expand into the Stalker world we know today. And the rest is history. ( This is a very short version of events. People have created longer videos on the subject that do better than I can do here)

In my current game of CotZ on day 130 (game time), I have 7,346 screenshots and 2,305 manual saves. Old habits die hard.

And then I come across Players, who for example will be in the AW and are stuck with a bad situation, and all they have is 2 quick saves and nothing else, where one is corrupted and the other made 1 minute before the bad situation.

But don't get me wrong. I don't expect anyone to do it the way I have done. I love the Zone and what I see, is why I have all the screnshots. The manual saves are made, so if the game crashes, I don't lose my progress.

Rookie Village in winter

This is SoC with only a winter mod added.

Red Forest in Winter. Strangely and unexpected, this winter mod caused Zombified Stalkers, going into an anomaly, not to explode into chunks but to spit out a whole, red skeleton. (from 2007)

I've never seen anything like this since.

I worked for Dez ( actual person in Hungary as in Dez0wave ) who is a genius creating these levels from scratch. I was a Tester for Dez0wave 2012-2014 before the release of Lost Alpha. They would create and I would be the Player traveling in the newly created level, giving them feedback to make adjustments. It was a lot of work but a great experience. I got to see many different versions of those levels during the adjustment phase and the final released version is done only one way. I got to see all the variations, which is something no one else will ever see. 😎

All the resources on this vanished with the GSC Forums in 2022.

I actually hadn't fooled with Vehicles Mods since 2010 or 2011.

I'm sure they may exist somewhere, maybe ModDB if you search around.

One thing I did discover by accident, if I spawned let's say 50 vehicles, all in the same spot and then shoot them, they would explode and fly in all directions.

This screenshot was taken, just seconds before one of these vans flew right at me, and smacked me, killing me instantly.

The same idea, spawning a bunch of UAZ-469, and shooting them from a safer distance, allowed me to create my best explosion ever.
