The reason people have so much trouble with the Faction Wars in unmodded Clear Sky is that each Faction has totally different goals, and it is hard to get them to stray from that.

I have experience with Clear Sky 1.5.3, 1.5.4, 1.5.5, 1.5.6, 1.5.7, 1.5.8 and 1.5.10. Sadly the 1.5.10 version is the one where GSC gimped the Faction Wars, where it is only a shadow of it's former self. Done to make the game more stable I guess. 1.5.8 was the best. All the digital versions are 1.5.10.

It depends on how you look at it. From the game start all the way to the game end where you are about to get on the chopper, it is not modded. So the game was completed without modding. Once you get to the end, the game of course gives you the option not to join the others leaving. This is free-play. I returned to the other levels and goofed around for awhile. Then a small vehicle mod, using embedded code from GSC that was unused, got activated and there were the standard 6 or 7 vehicles from SoC, that worked in CoP. At this point a completed game was modded with that small vehicle mod that did nothing else. What I did with all those vehicles is an entirely different story.

No, I have a lot of screenshots from the Tester phase. Things that got bugged, things that got changed, things never seen before in any version. I was the one Dez0wave Tester that didn't use god-mode, didn't spawn myself weapons, armor and ammo, just using what the game gave me. There were no vehicles in the game, except the car you escape the Dark Valley in. I had to walk EVERYWHERE. There were many things that I did, that they did not expect anyone to do, so my actions made them make major changes, but that is another long story. Anyway, this is all stuff in the development stage from 2012 to 2014. The game was released later in 2014. Here are the various versions:

Shadow of Chernobyl is unique in that men and mutants will make multi-level travel in off-line and on-line mode. Your actions can dictate how that happens.

This is a great example of a diagram I made. The red section is all the Player is allowed to access. However, men and mutants will take the green dotted path. Beyond the range of the Player, they are in off-line mode, where travel can be faster. They only become on-line when the Player gets in range of them, and they travel at the normal speed. This is just the Rostok level and does not include the WT.

I like to make diagrams to help people. This one shows, as soon as the Player enters Rostok the first time and finds that Duty will not let them into their section, the Player can sneak around them and trade with Colonel Petrenko who does not care. this is a good way to start buying rare ammo that no one else sells early in the game.

I call all those areas in the different levels where the Player doesn't normally go, the Twilight Zone. This is the highest point in the Red Forest.

In Call of Pripyat, I entered the Twilight Zone, spawned a UAZ and drove to this specific location in Zaton. See those two trees? This is what the Player sees behind him, above on the bluff at the game start.

The same in Pripyat, driving a UAZ to the Ferris Wheel, in CoP.

This is all old school stuff that no one cares about anymore, with so many new Mods that let you do bigger things. It was very hard work to gain access to the TZ in CoP.

There is some free binoculars on a table at the Stancia 1 in SoC. However, you have to go a roundabout way so that you do not trigger the emission, so you can get to it. The Military are there with a BTR-70.

I've experimented with CoP's upgrade system and eventually figured out it's literally just CS' system of fire rate/accuracy but in a more flexible system. As such, I usually just upgrade my gear into one side

Upgrade the Lynx for fire rate. Upgrading it for accuracy is just overkill as you'll already reach full Accuracy upgrading it for fire rate
