Call of Pripyat was originally released in 2009 in Russian only and the international versions were released in 2010. GSC did this so they could get the Russians to find all the bugs and they could fix them before the world release. There were two patches for that version, that were included in the 2010 release. As a member of the GSC Forums in 2009, I did not want to wait for the English version. The GSC Forums community stepped up and provided a complete English translation of the 2009 version. That is what I played for many years and is what you see below with the Dummy artifact. It was not until years later trying the 2010 version, did I discover that GSC had hired translators that did not know the game and they did a poor job. For example, the 2009 version we got Garik. The translators thought that name was too odd, and they altered it to Gary. At the Barge the person who wants the altered wheel is called Vobla (a local type of fish) but the translators changed that to Tuna, because they thought that would be a more recognizable fish to English speaking people. The leader of the Monolith was called Rogue, but this was changed to Strider. There are many more examples of the terrible job the translators did.
