GP5 filters are known to contain asbestos which is toxic. Make sure not to breath through the filter for health risks again.

Yes, remember guys to be aware when you're buying a gas mask (with a filter) from cold war era, due to the fact that many of them had filters filled with asbestos with chromium IV used as a catalyst. Sometimes even lead.
So not only old school soviet filters can be dangerous but those from US or UK can be as well

Is the GP-5 gas mask filter dangerous if it contains from 5 to 7% asbestos? The answer is no. The fact is that there are amphibole and chrysotile asbestos. The latter does not cause cancer, as is commonly believed, its formula differs from amphibole, which causes cancer, and only if you are a mining worker and work without a filter for a long time.

I looked on Google about this before buying, but forgot to look at the size of the gas mask, it turned out that it was too small for me. So my sister took it.
