@lilac condor i do have some critizisms about the fanart you made, 1. AK-47s dont have an orange plastic magazine, 2. why doesnt the AK have wood where you are supposed to hold it, 3. That sniper rifle doesnt exist, it looks like an air gun, 4. since when did people in the zone get brititsh camom 5. not sure how a furry can fit theyre snout in a gas masks which are basicly right on the mouth, 5. who cuts out a hood for theyre ears? and pants?, and 6. im sure that it would be a very big inconvinience to have your tail exposed to radiation and bullets, and grenades

So... closed-system unit is quite a bit more involved than a compressed air breathing apparatus; it involves scrubbing the CO2 from the rebreathed air as well as topping up the oxygen. It's a whole special unit, and needs oxygen cylinder, CO2 absorber, and cooling agent (ice!), as well as various control equipment.

#

Compressed air is simpler, but it still needs what's called a demand valve to control the flow, and regulator to step down the pressure from ~200bar in the cylinder to something that's not going to blow your lungs apart. Also, needs a face mask that's designed for positive pressure - simply put, the exhalation valve needs to be stiffer.

#

You can have a constant flow system, but it'd be very wasteful with compressed air. PAPR (powered air purifying) might be a good one; some systems like the Tornado (not sure if it's still made) have a half-mask option.

#

tl;dr:
If this is for a practical purpose, get something from the professionals whose job it is to design this stuff. If for cosplay... how accurate do you need?

I'm going to disagree on a crossbow being useless. Given the cams system, you can get extremely powerful crossbows that aren't exceptionally difficult to reload and offer fairly excellent penetration.
