Depends on the company, personally the Aks-74n from E&L I like and use in that photo the internal is all metal with real wood and fits most optics and the gl I use in that image fits very will no shaking at all and e&l has actual Ak production rights so everything fits extremely well and sorta feels like a real Ak best a airsoft one can

E&L will be a bit more expensive than possibly other companies

I only tried building a big weapon once... it was made from eva foam and a cardbord barrel and the statics was very questionable to say the least. Over the con day it started to bend... gives me ptsd to the day 😂

It fell twice and nothing happened XD But I also once wanted to make something out of EVA foam, I saw that a lot of people make weapons from EVA foam. Eva foam is nice for not hurting anyone but 3d printed is so fancy and sharp. 🔥 Sadly I never had the space for a printer also I kind of stopped with cosplay when corona hit and everything got cancelled (was running out of storage space in my tiny apartment as well) and started Scale modeling instead... But from time to time I am really tempted do make a Stalker Cosplay maybe I will give it a try someday

its not a muzzle brake (well, it kinda is a flash hider but thats its secondary purpose) its a booster, basically giving the gas system enough backpressure for the gun to cycle, because with such a short barrel the bullet leaves too quickly without creating enough pressure to force the bolt carrier to properly cycle back

you can create similar effect with a suppressor or an appropriate muzzle brake (that's why you see for example Zenitco DTK-2 on these guns and they work fine), but without it they wouldnt work reliably

there was also an experimental AKMSU, basically a 7,62 AKM but short like an AKS-74U. Not to mention a plethora of commercial 7,62 aksu copies/clones/inspirations available from various manufacturers

I think urban camo, most likely woodland pattern, is a good choice for a monolith cosplay.

I would add a green or brown vest with large poches to it, a combat belt in similar color and a brown balaclava and you are good to go for a basic monolith.

I actually own a interceptor body vest dated 2003 and yes your right it isn’t the best armor mobility wise however it does do a great job against shrapnel and the armor layout in the vest itself is very effective and throwing in modern plates makes a somewhat decent chest rig/plate carrier

And it dose work with most webbing gear and even some more early gear

While it accomplishes a LBE vest well, it doesnt function well as a standalone vest by its own design criteria. The thicker padded "belt" on the vest does not work well as a belt system, might as well go with a smersh. While it can carry more load than a smersh, a zonecraft solution for a smersh would net similar results, and with the pouch selection being quite limited it doesnt make sense even for the russians. Smersh would be better for stalker as well.

This is MultiCam Arid, it's a pretty good camouflage that, with the right selection of clothing, will look great with Urban Camo, it's perfect for certain areas.
I work with this plate carrier, I don't have another one.

This may not be the canonical camouflage of the Monolith faction, but in the universe of my book, my character walks like this.
A combination of Urban to show which faction you are from + Arid to blur the silhouette and allow you to camouflage in places inaccessible to other Monoliths

if you want some info about the "it will kill you" soviet filters go watch Project Spark's asbestos filter video. It had some good bits.
The host of the channel is fine with wearing those filters due to the amount of asbestos in them being small, with the filter being designed for filtering out small particles, he deems it safe for his own health. He always makes sure the filters are new and undamaged though.
I changed the timing of the risk by drilling and making my gp5 filter empty. It will have spread a lotta asbestos in that place at once, but i dont have to worry for the future.
