I'd probably cosplay as a Lone Stalker, I like them the most, then its duty (ive only played SoC, im on CS now), I was just curious as to how the cosplay process goes in terms of procurement and design

Thrift stores are such a good help with finding cosplay stuff. If you search for a while and can't find the right things though, then I usually look online. Putting together different pieces of gear/kit, planning out what I want the fit to look like

I'm no cosplayer but I think it's important to be able to dress up authentically than accurately.
Instead of going for a 1:1 cosplay, try using clothes that would probably be in the Zone. Even better if they have post-Soviet vibes. And then go from there. Even better if you can weather the clothes, so you don't look too pristine/clean.
I chose a rookie stalker cuz it's the easiest.

Some people like doing 1:1 cosplays, some like doing a sort of "realistic rendition" of a STALKER's gear with surplus kit.
I personally like a mix of both, I'm gonna be doing a Monolith kit soon, and I'm using actual practical gear for it, but mixing in a bit of the stalker-style vibe into the clothing and such

especially when you consider that a lot of the in-game models of armour and gear are custom fantasy type stuff, it's a lot more practical to go for rookie kits if you're just starting out

Are all of you american? Gun procurement can be difficult in the UK, this is a selection of what is UK legal, a lot of bolt actions, but no AK's unless they are demilled I think

obviously if you're just taking photos by yourself in a private area, you could use firearms just for pictures, but for every other reason I would just recommend getting airsoft guns
Just don't be the guy that gets a JG AK or a non-fitting modern AR

I live in Canada, so airsoft guns here don't require orange tips, so they're perfect for gun replicas
(especially when it's so hard to own real firearms)

although getting into airsoft stuff is a whole 'nother can of worms

Anyways yeah if you're just getting into cosplay stuff, I think a rookie Loner or Bandit would be a great place to start. Look at different in game models or outfits, and think about how you'd want them to look for yourself. Then it's just a matter of finding the right clothes and gear for it! And the nice thing about STALKER is that everyone's gear is personalized to their own preferences, so you don't have to make your entire loadout match exactly to one in game, you can style your kit however you want

I generally think the floating artifact lamp is cooler than just illuminated standing column, of which there are a number of decent fan-reproductions even if not 100% accurate like #🔮┃fanart_and_cosplay message I have one of these as well and sometimes it just goes off with no button-press truly terrifying lol. But on the other hand, there's nothing out there quite like the artifact lamp that comes with the Ultimate Edition as far as featuring the same levitating light via electromagnetism yeah it's a gimmick but certainly a cool one. At first I thought the lamp was just illusory more like one of those balls suspended in air chamber or hologram type thing when it initially existed just in renders but the moment we got a glimpse at gamescom 2024 of the real thing I was glad to have locked in for it.

In that same vein, I actually wish that the artifact container itself was featured more in Stalker 2 instead of just serving as the inventory icon for artifact container upgrades. I wasn't expecting it to be like Anomaly where you actually have to place the artifact in a physical container that's another inventory item, but it would have been cool to see Skif at least once put an artifact away into an artifact container with custom first person animation like the one we get when he uses the Topaz scanners, maybe upon inspecting an artifact you'd remove it & replace it into container, or upon discovering one for the first time in the intro segment something like that

The HD models addon for anomaly makes it so a couple freedomers have different camos that are similiar to flecktarn. Its totally realistic for a couple freedomers to have some clothes that arent flecktarb, especially low level ones.

I personally use the HD models mod for anomaly for cosplay inspiration. The mod uses high quality models of real gear. I just go to the test map in debug mode, spawn a bunch of stalkers with the debug menu and take screenshots of them.

webbing tape is good for trim, polypropylene is tough but also harder to sew and frays relatively easily, polyester herringbone apron tape is soft and easy to use and doesn't fray as easily, but has less "body" to it

yeah, I've tried working with polypropylene before and it's a pain in the ass, and also has a shiny glossy feel to it

I'm gonna make sure to order the less reflective tidier stuff for when I do them
I also came up with an idea for a mounting system with the shoulder pads that doesn't require sewing them into the field top/BDU

basically I thought of doing a single strap of webbing from the top of the pad going up to the shoulder area, connecting to a small webbing loop with a G-hook

and then a single strap on the lower part of the pad with a buckle that goes under the arm, holding it in place

Might be confusing since I'm not good at explaining things, but I'll try to draw a diagram later since it's 1am lol

anyways thats enough of my yapping, sorry lmao

i did try that sort of design, but i couldn't get them to sit how i wanted, the top of the pad would be flat resting on the shoulder and wouldn't conform well, but others like Aprikotte have had better success, making the pad concave should help

Just because I see you say stuff like this a lot here, I wanna give you some tips. It's kind of hard to find the in-game armour models online, since they're not real armour or clothing that exists in real life. The ones that you can find online are custom built pieces, and usually cost a lot. If you want to replicate some stalker armour stuff, you'll either have to make your own, or modify existing clothing/armour

Buying pre made costumes and stuff is fine, but is usually expensive as I mentioned, and also takes a lot of the fun out of putting together your own kit that you can style and personalize to fit how you want it to be

If you're looking to build out a duty cosplay, I'd recommend getting some black combat BDUs as a base layer, and go from there

Even getting a cheap plate carrier and adding strips of red tape here and there is a perfectly viable option, it's mix of buying different items and putting them together however you want

Like I get that just the blue circle on yellow is the one we all know from the games, but that was such a low res version made from some patches that were not finished with that final design element because it was some sort of added layer if I remember correctly instead of part of the rest of the patch? I understand for continuity's sake but it's still hilarious that they didn't put the true correct version of the patch as you have there as the one in Stalker 2.

Hello, Stalkers, I came up with a concept for a new anomaly the other day and wanted to know what you think about it and whether it really stands out from the game's image.

Anomaly: "Crow's Nest"

Type: Psi-anomaly (biological-behavioral)

Rarity in the Zone: Rare

Detected: Visually, by radiation and psi-background fluctuations

Description:
"Crow's Nest" is easy to recognize - a flock of crows is circling over the area or they are sitting on trees and roofs around. If a stalker enters the range of action, the birds fly up and pounce on him, inflicting minor but frequent injuries.
The anomaly reacts to movement, noise, or the presence of living creatures. A loud shot or explosion can instantly "wake up" a sleeping flock.

The air inside feels heavy - stalkers report hearing the sound of wings and croaking even when the birds are gone. The psi radiation in this area seems to affect both animals and humans, causing panic and aggression.

I don't know what made me believe I could draw human faces, that don't look like Voldemort, without the power of ctrl+z and liquify... spoiler: I can't.
I tried to save it but didn't work out. I am now going to drown my frustration in chocolate Milk.

besides the good thing about traditional is, you can not spend hours tweaking things like with digital... when it's on the paper, there is no going back (just painting it over with more black is an option) so its generally a bit faster

A story I made today:

Well cracks his fingers there was one situation.

I was on the verge of Red Forest near the bridge to Limańsk, just going back from Forester. Then I heard something cracking the leaves like 10m behind me.
Turned around, saw nothing. Made another few steps, and heard it again. Still nothing.

I just stood there still for like 3min, observing. No one in sight. Only noises of the forest and some distant screams from the City.

I made a step, looking behind me. Invisible step was made there, visibly on the ground, now 5m away.

I've never saw a bloodsucker doing such tricks, yet known no other mutants with invisibility. My hand was ready to pull out my handgun and shoot, but... I just said:

"I know You are here, I can sense You, I don't know who or what You are, but must be clever enough to play such tricks. If You wanted me dead, it's too late already, if not, I can spare You!".

The thing made one step back, shimmered a little. I could see a posture no bigger than one of the grown up child.

I took my hand off the gun. It shimmered again.

Then I saw, something like an amalgation of controller and bloodsucker. Small in posture, yet muscular enough to put a decent fight with a human.

It stared at me, but with visible mix of interest, fear and hunger, but stayed silent.

"You are hungry?" I asked, trying to be as neutral as possible. No fast or agressive moves. It tilted it's head a little, like a dog trying to understand his owner.

"Wait and look." I pulled my backback down on the road and started to search for something that mutant could eat. After a while I took out still fresh meat of an pseudodog I hunted earlier, was going to sell it to some butcher at Rostok, but the price was not worth dying or getting hurt over it in any way.

It made a two steps closer to me, visibly nervous, looking at the packed, bloody meat.

I opened the package, stood up and extended my arm to the mutant. "I mean You no harm if You will take this and leave."

Mutant closed distance even more, we were like 2m apart. I knew it was scared, but it seemed to understand my actions. Then, when it tried to reach for the meat, our eyes met and I felt like something was trying to supress outside noise.

Then I heard, a whisper. "Sta-a-a-lk-k-ker. H-a-and.... Why?", kinda shocked, I responded in my mind "Take it, you need it more than I".
It tilted it's head again, looking more curious than before, but was silent. Still drilling into my subconsciousness. "Tha-a-a-n-k You-u-u". It started to stare at the meat and took it slowly.

"Be careful out there, others will propably want to shoot you on sight, just don't get into their ways, and maybe we will see each other again someday." I said, kinda relived and in awe of what I've experienced.

It just kneeled and ate whole damn meat in like few seconds. After that, it stood up, with more energy, and stared into me again. Then a gunfight started near us, in the forest. It froze and started to shimmer.

"Go. D-d-ange-r-r, cl-o-o-se. Yo-o-u must hi-i-de." I heard.
"What about You?" I asked, verbaly this time.

"Hu-un-t". That was the last thing I heard from it. Then it cloaked and run away into the forest.

It took me few moments to shake it up and make a move. I took my backpack and went to the closest cave near the river, where I once hid during an emmision.

I could hear, that the fight was going more and more chaotic. Someone screamed from a gunshot, someone tossed a grenade, then another and all went silent for a while. Then, a distant roar was heard above the trees. Another scream. Cries for help and then, nothing. I emerged from my cave and went to check on what happened, but the leaves were too damn thicc, and I was running late with my errand, so I left.

Then, I hear "Enemy of the monolith, heretic, die." From the bush nearby, and took a dive on my face into the closest cover. Three shots, from the pistol, non hit me.

I've taken a look. "For monolith!" screamed the fanatic, trying to pull out the pin from grenade. He was mad as much as blood stained with its own blood from few bullet holes on the chest.

Then, I heard someone running from behind him. The leaves keept spreading, there was shimmer in the air.
Fanatic turned around and pulled the pin out, dropping the grenade at his own foots.

Grenade exploded. I was thrown on the ground, stunned.

I was laying there for like a five minutes trying to shake it off. When I stood up, there were just some bloody shapes and guts in the place where they stood.

The the only thing left from the mutant was his hand, the same hand that took the meat from me. Despite all things considered, I started to cry. I cried over a mutant. I gathered my strenght and took it remains to the nearest campfire. It was a a true bloody mess, more of a blob now.
