Thank you! For the demo, I've heard people saying it feels like Far Cry now or this or that but I wholly disagree with them. Based on the demo this is still STALKER through and through. Of course it's different in that it has superior graphics, QOL upgrades, etc. but the undeniable vibes of melancholy, the cosmic unknown, and loneliness that make STALKER what it is are still very much present.

The movement etc., personally I think it was more smooth and natural and had more realistic hitboxes than the predecessors of the series but in a 2024 launch I think that ought to be a bare minimum. It wasn't anything phenomenal. But the default hotkeys they had were different than what I have custom set up in my original trilogy games so my muscle memory getting in the way and making my gaming a bit janky might be affecting my opinion. I might think it's much better once I'm playing it how I like on my own PC.

To make it clear: gp5 filters are not as dangerous as people think. For those who don’t know, there are multiple types of asbestos. Some are nearly harmless and some can cause mesothelioma. The main difference between the safe kind (chrysotile) and dangerous kinds (amphibole and crocidolite) are the length and shape of the fibers. Now don’t get me wrong, I would rather not inhale any asbestos, but if all you have is an old Soviet filter, it will work for a cosplay. Now luckily the manufacturers of gp5 filters used chrysotile asbestos, so it shouldn’t be too dangerous. Just don’t wear it for long periods of time.

As you can see above, chrysotile asbestos is Freeform and weblike, while crocidolite is sharp and crystal like.

It has been generally found that yes, 40mm GOST filters do contain asbestos, which is actually a very effective filter as it is EXTREMELY fine strands of filament. Combined with charcoal and other compounds it makes for a pretty good system 👍

There are much better systems now however and asbestos is still carcinogenic no matter which way the coin lands, so @north skiff, if you have the ability to get either a stanag filter (they fit into GP5 with no problem, there is a lot of misinformation on the internet) or a Chinese industrial filter please do so.

I personally recommend one of them over doing what I did - cutting the filter open with a can opener, emptying out all the internals into a trash can, and then running the filter through the dishwasher (discoloring the paint in the process).

How buggy is the 1.0 release in comparison to 1.0004-onwards?

1.0004 is the last relevant to singleplayer patch anyway, so starting from 1.0001 the game is not bad, but has some bugs that were fixed later on. Like overall the 1.0004 — 1.0007rc is the best experience. In 1.0007rc they also fixed mouse sensitivity, so it's a bit more comfortable/responsive.
