No you can. That's how it works. If not, then it's just literally not an NFT. It only exists in the blockchain. It's just a receipt that gives you ownership over something. My understanding is that an ingame item that has been tokenized, for example a knife, can only be used by the current owner. Of course that would require the game itself to be based on blockchain tech and for a marketplace to exist where you can trade your tokenized ingame items.

Nah the knife stays with the creator or original "carrier". It just lets you sell the rights to claim ownership to somebody else. Like if I draw male genitals in the snow, take a picture, I can then sell you an NFT of it, which means you get to tell people you own that photo. I can still send copies of the original to anybody I want, so can you. The only thing that really happens is that you get to tell people you "own" it, and the blockchain will confirm that you do, in fact, own it. But you can't copyright strike me, because all I am distributing are copies. The entire, full original to ever exist, exists in my camera.
