Things the game does not tell you, 1. take cover always. 2. Q and E for leaning is your best friend 3. CTRL does crouch level 1, holding SHIFT after will make you go lower into crouch level 2 and you will have better weapon stabilizing and be harder to hit

Then just pay a mechanic to repair Sure_I_am I personally love the building/repairing system. I had a svarog by day 4 and a T3 PDA by day 7. Let's you save lot's of money so you can buy more ammo. Besides, the stalker series is super easy without the 'bloatware' that mods like anomaly and misery add. After I completed my CoP misery playthrough I did a vanilla nostalgia run and didn't even come close to death once.

I never felt threatened, never felt like I was poor in the middle of the apocalypse, just another OP main character in a game designed to make you feel special

That's not how I feel about the stalker series at all, they are AMAZING games, but that was my experience going from Misery to vanilla. Vanilla to misery was quite the learning curve, I hated that I wasn't spoiled and didn't even know that I was spoiled originally.

Call of Chernobyl is a good mod. It incorporates the maps from CS & SoC while allowing you to choose your faction, and I believe where you start. I haven’t touched base with CoC since I’ve been doing vanilla recently, but hopefully this helps with your request on mods. It’s pretty decent in my opinion still has it’s flaws, but never stopped me from enjoying the game. Each faction has there own missions and jobs as well.
