anomaly is a really good step-up from vanilla with the following mods:

-no mutant auto aim mod
-JSRS mod
-soundscape overhaul mod
-weapons and outfits drop with better condition mod
-LESS ITEMS MOD (important, it gets rid of all the item bloat in the game and basically makes it a TON more like vanilla)
-bodydots minimap mod

and basically a lot of tweaking done to the difficulty sliders. its very easy to make the game actually enjoyable by just tuning a couple of things
