I'm no stranger to hard games, and I often play games on hard mode on my first play-through, but I'm not interested in difficulty through numbers rather than difficulty through strategy. All this crap about playing the games pure vanilla first, it’s purist nonsense. ZRP, SRP and to a much lesser extent, PRP, are all just better versions of vanilla where you don’t have to deal with the imperfections and bugs of the game’s design, they make the games what the developer intended them to be.

And on a purely gameplay basis with SoC, I find the best way early on is to do close quarters combat and use hipfire/the crosshair instead of iron sights.

pretty soon you’ll get higher tier weapons but that’s the way to go until you do

Dude, telling people to play the games pure vanilla without any patches or fixes, all it does is turn people off from the games. We all know it, SoC and Clear Sky vanilla are bugged to hell and imperfect, they need these patches to make them what the developers intended them to be. You might be able to handle the broken vanilla mechanics, but a lot of people don’t like them. You shouldn’t turn people off from the series just because of some purist mentality.
