Despite scientists in SoC having tons of problems with not enough staff, zombies, mutants and other factions like Freedom and Mercs. They made (or could make) many useful discoveries.

  1. They made an artifact with no drawbacks under laboratory conditions.
  2. They were pretty close to create "a new generation of antigravity-based engines based on Gravy".
  3. They were pretty close to open a teleportation machine using Jellyfish artifact.
  4. They learned how to generate electricity using artifacts (Moonlight is one of them).
  5. SSP-series/SEVA suits pretty much use essense made out of artifact with antirad effect called Urchin. It's pretty rare. Could be one of the reasons of why those suits cost so much.
  6. They could transplant Flesh's eye to a person. The thing is - Flesh's eye also can smell.

Despite Duty and Army trying to destroy the Zone - they use artifacts by themselves ("to develop new means of protection") but don't allow people outside of the Zone to use them (You still can see collectors, medics, religious ordering a particular artifact for their own purposes).
Duty explains that they use the means of the Zone to destroy it, but it's not explained why Military use them ...
It seems that the Ukrainian government is making a poor attempt to control the use, storage, and transportation of artifacts.

Agreed The bugs are such a pain in that game I recently ran into the skull glitch and when I got to chance to kill sparrow to complete the quest to kill him he despawns upon entering wild territory also I know this is the first game but the factions feel less interesting then in other games mercenaries are bandits with different gear freedom is full of hippies who give you a quest to kill a guy for disturbing Mother Nature... but at the same time are also anarchists who act similar to bandits it feels like a bunch of ideology’s got blended into freedom because they didn’t know what the faction was meant to be yet and constantly getting defend this or destroy this quests when entering areas is so annoying

I mainly hate duty due to how they claim to be making the zone safer while there attempts to destroy it just make it more dangerous they basically shoot themselves in the foot and call it progress while not doing anything to actually help the zone such as dealing with the bandit and Hostile mercenaries. I mainly joined freedom due to there live and let live approach carefree nature and attempts to study the zone making to more understood for everyone.

The best way to do it is to have Max’s group wipe out Skull’s squad without you killing any of them. You maintain the stalemate between the two main factions and get to finish Freedom’s questline as well as get the Bulldog 6 for Voronin, and nobody goes hostile

I recommend it but that’s just me if your going to do it I suggest getting help from freedom so you get rewarded doing do will also open up a lot more freedom quests and potentially let you join freedom but I don’t recommend it since it turns duty and the scientists for some reason Hostile while allying you with bandits and mercenaries again for some reason
