@robust mountain Having your Engine is good, and even Grigorovich named all the reason why it is. But, as you know, their verdict is different and final. Maybe they decided that UE4 would make the atmosphere fit better the concept + it's cheaper + it's simplier to program the game on.

whenever they have their hands up it's a protective field, and when it's over they deal ranged damage if you're in a line of sight
so when you see them raise their arms - stay in cover for a bit and wait for the roar
then peek and shoot again

try using a powerful single-shot weapon like a sniper rifle to make the most use out of that small window of opportunity
hell may even try an underbarrel grenade into their face
shotguns with slugs/darts arent a terrible idea if you dont have the other stuff
i THINK their damage type is impact damage, but i might be wrong
normal grenades arent recommended cuz they can throw them back at you

The Zone is supposedly the single most fantastic event in all of the history of mankind, and while I can accept an awful lot of the people in the Zone being Ukrainian, Russian, etc purely due to geographic location, the idea that there isn't a single woman wandering around the place, either illegally like the rest of the Stalker population or through other means, is ludicrous.
The making sense part is that the only people coming to the Zone are either brain dead, trying to get out of troubles irl, trying to escape life or are mentally insane
The reason there aren't any females is the fact that GSC couldn't afford making female models and delaying SoC again
Because if you haven't noticed, pmuch all the NPC's have the same model

Atem: I wouldn't say it was bad but Clear Sky's plot will be deeper.

Atem: We still think that driving vehicles is different from the true "stalker" gameplay, so no.

Atem: The game will support DX8, DX9 and DX10, so you can play on the low-end/low-spec PC.

Atem: They couldn't be empty, if they were empty - you didn't find the information about the stash.

Atem: New version of the Engine support all modern graphic effects. Now the game won't use predrawn shadow maps at all. Lighting will be 100% dynamic. Many normal maps, reflection maps, textures were reworked. Visual part was highly reworked.
Gameru.net: How many people will be in the Zone compared to the original game?
Atem: More than in the original game, sure.

I mean if anything they should be in certain maps where walking around is a pain like darkscape and jupiter
Then again if they made driving a thing maps would need to be either bigger to accommodate them and add anomalies on main roads to force us into side roads unless we get off the car
On top of that players would end up ignoring picking up random arts. that could be found during a trip
But we don't even know which system to find arts. we will have on S2 so dunno
Maybe low-tier arts can be found by simply walking around and high-tier ones would need detectors
Best bet is something from Cardan and Nitro if the good ending is canon

Gameru.net: Please, tell us about the new locations that will appear in the prequel and what are the differences?
Oleg Yavorsky: The main difference from the first game - externally anomalous and wild Zone. Due to cataclysms, the new previously unavailable paths will be available: Red Forest, the lost exploratory city of Limansk, Pripyat underground (unlike the original game, we'll go not through the city itself but under it). More - later.
Gameru.net: Will there be new mutants in the game, will you get back mutants which weren't included in the original game? If they get back, will their appearance change? What ability will they have?
Oleg Yavorsky: We'll show the new mutants in their best a little bit later. I will only say, that we're focused on their paranormal abilities so fighting with them would be more interesting.
Gameru.net: There was talk about the new faction in the announcement. Tell us more, please.
Oleg Yavorsky: There will be 8 faction and communities, including the new one, which didn't appear in the original game. You can play for one of the 5 factions (others are aggressive by default). New faction has the same name as the game - Clear Sky - our main character is from this faction.
I'll tell you right away, we're significally upgrading faction functionality and player variety. Every faction has a base with leader, storage, security perimeter, mini-games, bar, mechanic's room, guide and other characters. Faction has a global goal - to make the enemy's base weaker and to capture it, and also regular goals, like capture of the transition points between levels, capture of the points full of artifacts and rare anomalies, unexpected attack on the enemies.
Player will be able join the faction and take part in the faction confrontation. Player will get ranks in his faction - from rookie to veteran. The mission difficulty will depend on your rank. Rookie - will be hired to clear territory from mutants nearby the base, Veteran - will be hired to attack an enemy base. Quests will be various - capture of important points, give help to ally squad, fight off an counterattack, escort the squad to anomalous place and etc.
Every faction will have it's characteristic features and differences. Bandits, for example, will prefer to take the artifacts from stalkers or to enslave them instead of looking for them by themselves. So you help stalkers to defend themselves from the bandit oppression. Gameplay will be different for each faction.
All described mechanics are the foundation of the Faction War - the main part of the prequel.
Gameru.net: How many hours it will take to complete the game?
Oleg Yavorsky: We are focusing on 20 hours. Like before, player will have ability to fully research the Zone, so potential walkthrough can be much greater.
Gameru.net: Will vehicles be included in the singleplayer?
Oleg Yavorsky: It's not planned in the singleplayer. Technically, as everybody know, it's realized with the first game, but we decided that vehicles don't fit with the gameplay concept of the Zone. Now we are experimenting on adding vechicles in the multiplayer, maybe, they'll appear there.
Gameru.net: Do you plan to add bots to the multiplayer?
Oleg Yavorsky: It's not as simple as it looks, because bots in the multiplayer must do anything that players can: climb the ladders, roofs and etc. - we would have to write separate functionality. Our efforts are focused on the maximum rework of the bots AI in the singleplayer to make it one of the most interesting AI in the industry. For example, in the prequel AI can throw grenades, use various tactics (defensive and offensive), use advantages of different covers, we realized reaction of the AI on grenades, contusion and etc.
Gameru.net: Will the game have new multiplayer maps
Oleg Yavorsky: Yes, for sure.
Gameru.net: We learned from the announcement that part of the Zone will be redone locations from the original game. Can you tell us in details, how will the old places be changed?
Oleg Yavorsky: Locations will be modified according to the mentioned concept of the more anomalous Zone. We want to create an impression among players, that it's not the Zone they have seen in SoC. The Zone is disturbed, it's full of energy, anomalies are very active and the landscape has changed. Externally calm Zone - green grass, trees, ruined houses - will have trails of the terrifying anomalies: torn up or collapsed inside ground, vegetations damaged by the Electro's impact and etc.
Gameru.net: Will the prequel have new possibilities (sleeping, for example)?
Oleg Yavorsky: We don't plan to add sleeping mechanic. There will be tons of new possibilities - weapon and armor modification, weapon sighting, two-handed HUD, modified artifacts and anomalies concept - you have to use detectors to find the artifacts and much more.
Gameru.net: Sore question for all the fans of Stalker - level of realism. Will it be more or less realistic, than Shadow of Chernobyl, please us with something new?
Oleg Yavorsky: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - realistic game, and the prequel won't change anything - nor graphic, nor gameplay, nor balance. For example, the weapon will have such factor as weapon sighting - you have to sight a new gun. In general, the game will become but it won't be a simulator like Operation Flashpoint!
Gameru.net: Will there be any changes in the NPC behavior or it will be the same as in SoC?
Oleg Yavorsky: We are working on the improvement of literally every aspect of the game, including AI and A-Life. One of the direction - to make the rookie stalkers' behaviour more a-live and fun. Stalker-neutrals will pay attention to the passing player, they turn to him. You will be able to trade with stalkers and to discuss more topics. Stalker camps will have more states - night and day camps will be different.
The second direction of our efforts on A-Life - to make more sense and depth in NPC actions in the simulation. To make it clear for player what his actions lead to. There's a real faction and its enemy. They fight for the territory, artifact places and rare scientific phenomena. Everything in the Zone has a logical sense. If we control more territories - faction becomes more cool, rookies join it. if you capture a new point - the newcomers will have new suits or weapons. Wherein the enemy faction becomes weaker.
Situation in the simulation changes everytime - the new points and resources are taken every time, unpredicted attacks happen. Such events become quests for the player. Such questlines allow you to let loose some groups and encrease the power of others. In the end, it can lead to the victory of one faction over another. For example, capture of the bandit base is cool - there's a lot of interesting things, and also rookies on Garbage can relax.
Gameru.net: In the last episode of "Финальный отсчёт" (https://stalker-ru.gamepedia.com/Финальный_отсчёт) we have clearly seen that stalkers had ability to communicate remotely to each other. Will you get this ability back to the game?
Oleg Yavorsky: Only NPCs can initiate such communication, the player won't have a phone.
Gameru.net: Shall we wait for the unlocked A-Life? (Lack of "gulags" beside the main plot scenes?)
Oleg Yavorsky: The prequel will have development materials, which weren't included in the first game for some reasin, for the simulation. Life simulation will be different a lot. It's confirmed by the fact that the main element of the gameplay will be the Faction War. It's impossible to make a full freeplay without the main plot scenes, so it (freeplay) will be avaliable after completing the game. You can try to play the freeplay in the next patch for SoC. We'll follow the feedback from the players.
Gameru.net: Shall we wait for the new gadgets in Clear Sky (various tools, new detectors and etc.)?
Oleg Yavorsky: Yes, we'll add a number of weapons and armor (with a big amount of possible upgrades), we're also changing the concept of artifacts - there will be detectors, special containers and etc.

There's hardly any new maps, it's the same levels just adjusted a bit. Unlike CoP which has completely new areas. Other than that it yes it has expanded on a few things like equipment and visuals.

I have a question pertaining to the weapon stats: accuracy stat of say 50% will mean 1/2 shots will hit directly on target? How is the damage stat calcualted? Handling is how fast you can pull the weapon out?

that chart basically explains your questions except handling, which as far as i understand, handling are p'much accuracy multipliers
I meant damage as in like a weapon with damage value of 10% vs 20% and if ammo size type (5.45x39 vs 5.56x45) will matter for damage
in vanilla the damage is calculated by the gun, not ammo. And the guns have a hit_damage value which designates the actual damage. Not too sure about multipliers and stuff other than SoC having a quirk, which is that every first shot after a time_to_aim delay does more damage than normally, and only to the head. 5X to NPCs, 10X to mutants, so the other shots do reduced normal damage (even zero damage, depending on the body part struck).
So let's say your first shot is always 100% damage, but if the value is set to 1 you have to wait 1 second for your second shot to do 100% damage If you shoot before the 1 second is over the shot damage is greatly reduced

Well it must be grounded in some form of reality because I can assure you that it’s easier to kill enemies on harder difficulties
Maybe thats because you actually get good on master difficulty due to headshots being more rewarding
Because bulletsponges on lower difs can take easily a few headshots even with no helmets or low tier armor models
Damage remains the same across the board, but enemy (and your own) health changes. If I remember correctly.
Do you want to know what a hard to kill enemy really is like? Go play BLACK on ps2 on black difficulty, grunts with helmets take 4 shots to blow off their headgear

Tarkov isn't too bad mechanics wise, a little realism is good, I'm mostly just not fond of it because it's a multiplayer based game. I'd say a good combination of Stalker, Metro Exodus, and Tarkov mechanics in a single player game would be perfect.
