@strong rivet best all-around armor imho is the Skat-9m. Solid bullet/impact resistance and solid environment/rad resistance. I actually replayed SoC because of nostalgia recently and remembered how good the vanilla is.
Also, if you happen to have x4 of an artifact, not only it makes you immune to some anonalies, you can also repair your armor :)

I have a theory, you know when you hear screams in ShoC as ambient noises? My theory is that those screams arent close your location, but actually are distant screams or screams that happened in the past or are going to happen and the you hear them cause there is an anomaly that grabs loud noises and carries said noises through the zone, and it would explain why you hear static noises when some of the scream ambient noises play
