Anomalies and mutants caused many casualties, while those who managed to survive eventually made their way to the Rostok Factory, where they stayed, fighting off monsters and coping with hunger and deprivation.
Duty was founded by then Captain Tachenko, the squad leader of a team of army specialists who were tasked to destroy the center of the zone using nuclear explosives. However, they were nearly wiped out by an emission that followed. He and his closest officers staged a communications breakdown, allowing them to desert the army and join stalkers in exploiting the Zone. While this ploy worked, the resulting chaos led to great casualties among soldiers, although it enabled Tachenko to create Duty.
Tachenko was never held accountable, the story effectively silenced by he and the other higher ups. During a routine artifact hunting trip, however, he and his fellow conspirators were trapped in a spatial anomaly. While they searched for a way out of the anomaly, on the sixth day, a colonel named Kosmach suffered a nervous breakdown and shot two other Duty officers before finally shooting himself. The last two survivors, Tachenko and his attendant named Chepurny, split up - Tachenko never saw the attendant again, and it is revealed he later died. Tachenko then recorded his final moments and thoughts on his PDA before killing himself.

okay so let me explain to you. @thin pasture basically the first time you advance from the garbage to the duty base (100 rads bar) the guards at the garbage get ambushed by boars and dogs. that's the zone trying to take them down. second thing on your way to the bar there are a lot of anomalies covering the path between The garbage and the base. third thing. when you go to the garbage you encounter a dead rookie and an area surrounded with pseudodogs and blind dogs. you get past them and when you speak to the guards they say that "the zone sends waves of mutants to try to take them down everyday" basically the zone sends mutants to fight duty. but newbie loners fall inbetween the fight and get ripped by dogs. fourth thing in your way to the wild territory you encounter a lot of duty members who eventually got shred to pieces by blood suckers, snorks and dogs there. fifth thing. in the army warehouse when you encounter skull and his gang they get attacked by the pseudo dogs and stuff around. although they left duty the zone still tries to kill them. now this is all about SOC. in SC you encounter a bunch of guards being ripped by a blood sucker and then cloakers at Agroprom. plus i really don't recall a lot of mutant and anomaly attacks on other factions as much as duty. coincidence? i don't really think so :D

OWR3 for SoC and CoP and STCS for CS or maybe Weapon Goulash. And Absolute Structures and Redux for each
