The cage area? That’s psi damage you’re taking, when the screen gets a yellow-ish tint and you start seeing double. You can counter it by taking psi block.

I’ve had a look at the mod scene on Xbox and there are now loads of them. It would be hard for a user to figure out which ones are the most hardcore.

Are the best ones still Better Ballistic, Unforgiving Zone and the one with the same day and night cycles, or is there something new?

I play on Xbox and I enjoyed better ballistics but for some reason with the latest updates it isn't working like it should it makes the game crash a lot someone made a mod that's kind of like anomaly where it's just no story just explore the zone but I haven't looked into it much

Take note that likely since you last used it, Better Ballistics has split into 2 separate versions: Core - includes all the gunplay ballistic changes you're familiar with + NPC combat attributes.

But now there's also Redux - which is sort of like if you combined BB Core with Unforgiving Zone, it includes all of the ballistics changes of Core but with additional reworks of other systems such as healing + bleeds, consumables, player weight affecting stamina, and changes to traders & economy. BB Core would be compatible with Unforgiving Zone but BB Redux would not be, though in my opinion supersedes its features. To me BB Redux is already a great starting point for a more hardcore playthrough, and there are a ton of other mods you can run in tandem with that.

I'll post my full list which is aiming for a more hardcore & immersive experience while still embracing some of the best QoL mods

For some reason et least with my playthrough and from what iv read on Reddit a few mods don't like working with the newer update sadly better ballistics is a phenomenal mod it makes gun play feel much more dangerous than it normally does witch is nice because although 7.62x54 is on the shorter end of a sniper cartridge it should still smack like a truck

I haven't played the game since launch and I am curious to ask the question: How do y'all feel about the game? Has A-Life been making progress in development? The biggest thing for me in the original trilogy was how alive the world felt, and I am hoping to have that experience again the next time I give STALKER 2 a go.

it did improved a lot. BUt it still needs some love to feel as good as it should. But its nice now.

There is still also spawner director tho, which is not connected to Alife and spawns NPCs randomly to create "events" and this thing completely break ppls opinion on Alife, bcs they dont know, that these spawned NPCs are not connected to Alife. And these are the NPCs that spawn right infront of you and etc.

It isnt some basic spawn template. It has its rules. But its still in and idk, if they are using it temporary or if it is intentionaly there to have game feel more active.

I hope so too. All I'm looking for is that first feeling I got back when I played SoC & CoP years ago. Living & breathing. Still something I haven't seen outside of the trilogy to this day. I'll use mods if I have to, but I really want to see how the developers bring their vision to life.

Hmm news to me if that's the case & certainly haven't noticed anything awry yet, just thought DWO & Clear Sky were incompatible? I have heard that npc collision is locational, in some areas there is, in other areas there isn't.

Yeah, sometimes you can just walk through them. Don't give up. Eventually the NPC will move. Had the same issue and it drove me nuts.

If you can move away far enough for them to go offline for a while and then come back that usually gets them to move as an option of last resort

Not really, it’s not essential to the game that you do hunt for artifacts, it does however make the game somewhat easier when you build up resistances by using the artifacts. Just found my 1st Compass last night.

Anyway, with Ballistic Redux, it took me half a morning just to get through the prologue, because if you die, there are no mid-game saves. More than anything, I had to completely rethink my approach to the game from scratch and, after a lot of swearing, I managed to get through it.

Lol got into an engagement with a sizable group of bandits at a compound when an emission warning popped up a just a few seconds into it.
Ran into a small bathroom building for cover and had my gun trained on the door for if they followed me in.

Yes, allegedly you will have to start a new game if you don’t have a save file already, and get to a specific major event that happens about 1/3 - 1/2 way through the campaign before given the option to start the dlc. The dlc takes place during the main story and connects with it

another thing is how the "Some-Life" system now seems to just spawn in dead bodies. like you'll see bodies just flopped over as if they were just turned off and fell over. and bodies are also moved around when you get away from a body then return so we're seeing bodies either under the map, on or inside of things or their feet stucking out of the ground. it hurts the immersion something fierce when you go to a location repeatedly because almost every time you do there's new bodies with loot on them and it looks like this

The game is in an utter wild state considering it's over a year since release. As Blackburn said, sadly each patch aims to fix an issue, but introduces another 3-4 every time.

Every time I try to play the game it's plagued with random AI spawning issues, bugs with mutants spawning in huge groups, mutants firing through walls. Not to mention the missing or incomplete features. Other than the first patch which basically was firefighting 700 bugs and issues this has been the case.

No we are just left holding the state of the game in it's current state until the engine upgrade. Your guess is as good as mine when it comes to when that might be.

I love the atmosphere and world but that has been the only upgrade from the trilogy. Even this has a lot of issues with the lighting sytem (lumen) that you have to look over, and some questionable art direction choices.

Here is some more zone lore." I close the PDA and despairingly look up at the NPC. He is still standing there.

As Zombie said, there should be a Bloodsucker when you have to get your first artifact outside the bunker in the prolog. Shortly after there would be two Fleshes (Fleshs?) when leaving the cave heading to the first settlement.

But give the mutants a try. They do spice up the gameplay and really aren't that hard. And I'm not sure how the mod works in story situations where killing a mutant is mandatory to progress.
