Is every mod in the game broken now?
Cus i download just one of any of my mods and the game has a seizure
My save relies heavily on those mods.......
Screw it been looking for a reason to replay the game

Good Morning or evening depending where you live. I was able to download the new update (30 GB) 1.7 and I got to say with an almost 8 year old CPU (Ryzen 5 2600) and a MSI RTX 4070 8GB, and 16GB 2933MHz RAM, the game performs much more better for me that the previous patch. 1.6 . I was having some serious stuttering when I was in Rostock. for some reason it was struggling to load the buildings, NPC, etc. other than that it is awesome to finally play this amazing game. Good job Devs !!!. On another note, I'm heading to Burnt Forest to explore the another emblematic icon of the The Zone /Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, the former Duga facility. I'm super excited to finally explore the zone. Once again Fantastic work GSC devs, you're doing a great job.

Mods are outdated currently so resubscribing will just brick it again, if you want to play start a new save, your old save will prompt you to reinstall the mods once you boot it back up
You guys are letting the game be full of bugs the entire time it's available through gamepass. Now that it's coming out on PS5, there are fixes all the time. I'm definitely not investing a dime in this buggy game and I won't buy any of the studio's games in the future. Too lazy and money-hungry studio.

whoever had the issue picking up the body in the lesser zone, you can pick him up if you empty his pockets first. I know that goes against his buddy's demand that you stay out of his pockets, but he doesn't seem too upset. He just lets you keep the stuff as your payment for moving the body
what is it about gun balance that people feel is wrong?
Did this also reset all of your settings from controls through display etc? Thankfully I had the numbers down for a custom aim curve I had set up & remembered most others but fair warning to all those who use this method may turn everything to default
I didn’t customize my controls
I noticed it had even reset like my FOV back to 90 and wholly defaulted display settings, so not sure if that was due to update or the clearing reserved space because of the mod instacrash to home screen
Damn that's always the first thing I do in a game lol. Meanwhile, I've been begging GSC for the ability to just set our own controller binds as possible with MKB enabled, imo there's no good reason in AAA game in 2025 we shouldn't be able to make the controls whatever we want; I think it would be smart of them to look to systems like Battlefield & Arma Reforger have for example, which recognize button holds and double taps as different inputs from single button presses, and the way that might give users more freedom as well as preventing issues with the limited buttons on controller.
@glossy blade With PS5 release right around the corner and a new swarm of rookies entering the Zone with controller in hand, I'm wondering if it would be possible to have an update in the future to allow custom binds on controller as is currently possible only with mouse and keyboard? I play on Xbox but think at least for some chunk of us speak for console players at large in this request. Maybe having some some pop-up warning to rebind controls at your own discretion like the one for achievements being disabled while using mods as well as of course a reset to default option for if you mess things up; this would be a very welcomed feature for those who would take advantage of it for personal preferences, and it would detract nothing from those who choose to not tweak these 🙏

I followed 3 loners as they entered zallisya, and a few minutes later, all 3 of them plus another loner left Zalissya and traveled to the outer checkpoint in the Cordon, eventually dying due to bandits. I like 1.7.

@rocky shadow been thinking about your statement regarding the current Alife not featuring overarching goals for NPCs and such. If they ever manage to implement said overarching goals, I think a really neat way to showcase its existence would be a new dialogue prompt with random NPCs where you can ask them what their goals are, and they would respond with what their actual goal is: owning a specific type of equipment, or achieving a certain amount of cash, or getting to a specific POI in the zone.
There's so much cool shіt they can implement and I hope they'll keep improving a-life long after the engine upgrade
Not that person but I would love to see the implementation that COP had. Where you could ask NPCs what are they doing, and they say like “I’m going to the hill overlooking the boiler anomaly.” Or some such. And you could also travel with them there.

We're at a-life 0.9 now. But we're getting there
these goals are not that deep. Its just that NPCs did have something like life and not just "fight for lair" and if they win, they fight for another lair or just patrol around it

No. Its still in development and Shay doesnt want it to be shared until its finished. Also it has it has flaws and it would make ppl have bad understanding whats happening. Bcs they would think, that these flaws are bcs of Alife and not bcs of mod itself

Looking at how it works, it tags every nearby NPC as a trader so that you can see them moving around the map, as proof that they're moving around in offline. I would assume it only shows you the NPCs that are in a specific radius around you
Rly dont know actually. It depends on what type of NPC it is and mostly what faction. Like it shows all Wards and Loners (in location, that you visited at least once), but only few bandits
no, it shows whole map. But you have to visit location at least once for them to be marked (maybe spawned at all)

whole Alife system works on this, that you have to visit the location for them to be spawned and then working. Probabyl for perfomance reasons, to fill the world gradualy

its at the start of the game, south of Zalissya, its a small village, you can save a dude from a Bloodsucker.
That NPC is probably scripted and not affected by Alife
he is my benchmark, as this is the farthest i ever made in the game.
i think they got it backwards then, bc the whole thing about persistency that you could find guys you saved/interacted in a way and you could see the effect you had in the world. So in my mind, as long as that dude just puff, gone there is no A-Life for me, sadly. I mean, random guys persisting in a squad is also cool, but it doesn't have a big impact.

How do you get the artefacts to spawn above ground? I’m bugged in the cave with squint.
I constantly have this issue with gravity artifacts. What I do is repetitive but it hasn't failed me yet is: Run up to the artifact until your detector says you're basically on top of it beeping like crazy, spam the pickup button on the ground where the artifact is, if you cant grab it move away so the artifact "disappears", repeat until it pops out the ground or you grab it.
I just did this with an artifact in the ribs anomaly too

I started my second run on Master difficulty. I reached Zalissya. After that, I spent another 5 hours. Is it normal that looting corpses didn't give me any stash?
Is Expedition Mode automatically enabled when playing on Master Level?

And as for the corpses I know that the stashes are limited in master I believe, but you mean like absolutely no bodies are giving you stash locations?

so I've heard
I started another playthrough on 1.7 and couldnt pick up Bubbles body in the Lesser Zone side mission.
I figured it out that his PDA spawns twice, one next to his body and another in his inventory. So if you loot his PDA in his inventory and nothing else, you should then be able to pick up his body and complete the mission. Just an FYI if you run into the same problem as me

I like that on master difficulty some stashes just don't exist. There were too many of them for my taste so now it feels better to search them

Probably deafens you a bit. Reduces the amount of audio you hear through the helmet.

The game saves too when you leave, so if you must save, just exit to menu and launch the save again

CoP has the worst Alife, being cut down from CS, CS had the best
in SoC NPCs walked and persisted outside the players loaded map, in CS they were able to battle and die with other squads and has Goals

They are just different in every game. CoP is considered the worst one in that aspect because NPCs couldn't even travel between locations and they are just lurking around aimlessly on the map.
CS is the best on the technical level (all the npcs are actively fighting, the entire world is alive no matter where you are) but very predictable and repetitive because almost all of it is about the faction war which is very simple and there are very few routes that can be taken by the NPCs
Alife is there but I noticed the game will calculate outcome of offline encounter and when you get there it will dump bodies in the middle of an area. It doesn’t look like there was battle but it does indicate that offscreen the game did simulate encounter it just shows the result very artificially if the player stumbles upon the area

a shorter dev time and unskilled devs when it comes to AI plus the nature of the game being more Scripted
It was more or less the same in original games. Less noticeable because of the bigger render distance. Hope we'll see some improvement of the render distance with the engine upgrade

CS is the most unstable out of the three. CoP has cool sidequests (narratively) and is the most stable out of the three so many people really enjoy it
It should scatter bodies. I was passing by watch tower with pseudo dog and it spawned 5 bandit bodies close to ladder. But on the other hand that pseudo dog was attacked by boars and then Ward. Then bandits came by and shot me to death.

its funny how certain dialogs and things, that were clevery done in CoP makes ppl think, that CoPs alife was best 
thats always how it worked even in OGs. The difference here is, taht they didnt write code for the bodies to be spread around, so they spawn on each other

ppl saw some scripted event and they thouhg, that its Alife. CoP is full of things like that, thats why it sells itself well.
If you are just few mnts in, i would try to retsart again and be sure, that you have master (although, you should be able to see it in menu, so just be sure you have master on)

thats weird. Are you sure, you are not subrscribed in steam workshop to some mod, that changes Master? (if you are on PC)
I only use nexus mods right now. And the only mods I use are:
- optimized tweaks
- Cinematic bullet impact
- deadzone
- real longer days
- bloodspats
- realistic death animations
- subtle laser sight
- better ballistics redux
- shay's impactsa
none of them should temper with the save mechanics, is my simple logic
you'd be surprised, 100% one of those mods is messing with it
i would suggest you to try to turn all mods, restart it and see, if its still same. IF not, some mod is doing it and then you can try to turn mod by mod and see for yourself. It would be good to know it, bcs you would be able to report it to mod maker

look, I just noticed that quick save indeed is disabled, as it should be. But I can easily bypass that by hitting escape and click save

yeah, the damage drop off is almost non existent in battles at longer ranges, shot guns dont get nerfed to oblivion after 10 meters etc

I think ppl's memories of Stalker are v fogged up by the huge modding community that's formed post OG trilogy. S2 rn feels like a fully realised CoP so I'm v happy with the state its in. All the more hardcore stuff like campfire saving etc, those are all mod inventions that were never in the OG games from the orignal creators

Yeah exactly. I love Anomaly, but I played through SoC, CS, CoP, then Anomaly. Anomaly and everything else is like Stalker Fan Fiction where everything is made extremely hardcore and doesn't actually resemble the original games much
i wouldnt say fully realised CoP, but CoP has some immersion details, that S2 is missing, but generaly its true about ppl and fogged memories and opinions
exactly. I liked Anomaly. I liked EFP, i liked Gamma. But some of those fans of these mods are completely lost in what Stalker games were about and what was their gameplay
yeah same here. I thought I'd start with anomaly but then read somewhere that it could be helpful and also impactful to actually play the trilogy, first. And so I did and that is when I came to love the stalker series
I always thought in an ideal world I just wanna play CoP, but actually open world/all the locations of the OG trilogy combined, and S2 v much feels lke that to me, post patch 1.7. We can always have Anomaly 2 pop up further down the line
a fully realised CoP game would be a Western RPG with better choice reactivity
S2 is closer to SoC
this is the way. Anomaly is nice, but you should play it only after Trilogy. I hate that ppl recommended Mods before OGs.

nah the balance is completely screwed up. I was in the home stretch of the game, but really struggling, because I was very low on ammo, yet there were no vendors around, no traders, I couldn't backtrack to get more ammo or search the area fairly to find more. At that point I threw the towel in. Just badly designed balance in that one

I mean dont get me wrong, I've had an incredible time with GAMMA. In fact I think its a fantastic mod of a mod, so to speak, and I would love it if something like it ever happened to S2.

@tacit nexus and that was like, second playthrough where I took a lot of time thoroughly upgrading my armor and weapons before getting to the end. I did max prep and I was still getting one shotted, killed by grenade spam, Clear Sky is not a fun challenge it's just very very annoying because of bad design
like I said, Cop has the screwed up balancing for allowing you to buck break it with unmodded low tier weapons, no actual challenge to be had in a game that takes its combat not srsly

even CS wasnt good at balancing but it was miles better than CoP, should've made sure your AK wasnt viable endgame at all despite upgrades

There is a clear difference between a sawn off shotty you loot from a bandit at the start and a fancy VSS
You didn't have to look anything up in the OGs statwise. Power differences in weaponry was clearly communicated by how late into the game you get them

Yes and no. Its myth, that Master in OGs made it less bulletspongy. Its did opposite, but in other way. On easy difficulty, you did 120% damage to enemies. On Master, you did 100%. So it was more FAIR. There was no bulletspongines in comparing difficulties.
Master in S2 is better, bcs its fair fight and veteran compared to it is bulletspongy

Some enemies are scripted to spawn yeah. But I don't think the dogs should spawn that close to you if that's what you mean.

There is helicopter, and inside a stash in the middle of a swamp with reeds. You can even hear, when the dog just spawns in. I tried to shoot the spot where it appears, but nothing there until you get close enough.

Bcs Veteran was made before and it was just number changes. Master is more complex. To be fair, idk how they touched veteran with this patch, so maybe im telling false info, but veteran was buletspongy before, while in master, you need muuuuch less ammo for same enemies compared to veteran before

I think the balance still needs tweaking - mission rewards feel v low considering how long they can be, mutants are bullet sponges with no reward, drowning in bandages with barely any medkits on corpses - but it's actually fun to play now and the zone doesn't feel like an empty map any more
and I wonder if my opinion comes from playing lots of anomaly AKA an extremely hardcore difficulty take on stalker that doesn't remotely resemble the OG games anyway

@eager onyx I mean I'm playing on Veteran and I think I'd prefer if there were half the number of bandages and slightly more med kits. Right now I am swimming in bandages but med kits are hard to come by

Combat difficulty feels just right, but you can get food and bandages so often off corpses that kills off any tension from encounters
Like I'm routinely wondering around with 10+ bandages but one or two medkits lol. Balance not quite right there
bandages are still fair to frequent, I like the medkit balance in Master mode
at least i'm not just dropping 50 of each into my stash each time i do a mission
Overall the availability of all sorts of supply needs some redesign. You can become independent from traders pretty close from the beginning. You don't even need to worry about food.

5,000+ known fixes / improvements across multiple patches since launch. game was objecivley unfinished. If you enjoyed it then great, but the game was nowhere near finished
Oh I agree I don’t think it was finished, but I think what we got, on a surface level, was still pretty good. I’m looking at the game for what it is, not what it isn’t or could be atm

Sometimes it did, yeah. My specs are not great, and there were a few times I’d get what I think were memory leaks. The worst of it was at that one fight near the antenna (trying not to spoil)
Now it feels fairly solid
ATM it’s rocky cause of the 1.7 update, but there’s some mods that do things like extend the day/night cycle, or there’s extra weapons (kinda finnicky sometimes). I think the one I would recommend the most modifies the exposure, so you don’t have difficulty seeing out of windows while you’re inside. There’s also a couple of balance mods I use as well
I’m more minimalistic when it comes to mods for the most part
Idk why it took me this long to bind sausage to a hotkey. Having a sausage button is peak gaming

The atmosphere is a huge part of what drew me into the game years ago and sitting down with the game and just taking it in feels like a rite of passage for the experience
They also reworked how enemies can see at night
Some have NVG's and some don't, it determines how well they see at night
So far nights are a bit scary
I don't travel much at night

Maybe but yeah found out after some more testing that some stash bags in certain locations and stuff still have stuff in them and ect and I’m getting stash locations from pdas so that’s chill but still get to get one from looting a body so maybe that’s just not a thing in master
Another thing I love how the damage is now you gotta really watch out in gunfights but one thing that I started thinking about is the situations which there are multiple in the game when your put into a gun fight against multiple people out in the open
I haven’t even beaten the game but there are a good amount of time I recall especially with bandits not gonna spoil any specific moment but when your maybe say in a dialogue with them out in the open that inevitably go’s hostile and there’s like 3 or more guys
On veteran sometimes even it was like wtf cause you just had to run to whatever cover you could find real fast while possibly getting melted but if you spammed heals and ran you’d have a chance of escaping more times than not
Haven’t tested yet and prob am not tbh but I could definitely see how in master that shit wouldn’t be possible lmao 😭💀
The damage you take from sustained fire is way higher so I couldn’t imagine how in the situations where your forced to fight like 3 guys out of dialogue in the open wouldn’t result in death but I could be wrong tbh maybe it’s just as simple as in veteran just spam heals and run lol

There’s a moment when you in the lesser zone and there’s a path you can take where your talking to bandits in a building but the dialogue almost inevitably ends in you having to fight them but there’s like 3 in front of you and even more in other rooms in the building
So I was saying like for those moments when your forced out of dialogue to have to fight how would that play out in master when you die a lot quicker from bullets
And bare in mind you only save at safe zones so you would be set back far possibly if you do die
You know that spot in Garbage where you find 2 artifacts and get jumped? On master I shot the first guy then ducked behind radioactive cover. "Oh shit, radiation killing me." I move out of cover, take a bullet, lose a quarter of my health. Whip out my Gauss Rifle and Hipfire into another ones Penar. (Solely cuz I went to Pripyat first thing.) Then 5 other dudes pop out of the cut with a huge pack of Rodents, they start fighting I'm throwing grenades at both

To be honest mate you are prob best to buy a mouse n keyboard, plug em into your PS5 and use them for the game.
I did this by bolting out of the room as soon as dialogue closes, there is a toilet to the right and bandits are not that quick to draw
Then just potshotted peeking from the doorway
After bf6 the gunfights are like underwater

yep, they become part of your pda and you can sell them. If it is needed for a quest, it is marked as quest item and can not be sold.

From what we understand, we got some ragdoll changes yes. @empty gorge is having a field day for RDA

i think they added stiffness to some parts of the npc body so they interact better when ragdolling
Sometimes they try and jump like a meter high
One thing I miss from OG stalker is when they would fire their gun as they fell

I had an artefact spawn under a rock at death cave on ps5. Not a big deal but it’s the first it happened and it’s a bit annoying. Hopefully they fix!
worst thing, if you dont pick it up , it stays there, an easy fix from GSC its to make every artifact change position every time the player goes to sleep.
Huh I thought they reset eventually? Well here’s hoping they fix it. Of course it had to happen around those awful gravitational anomalies. Hate those things!
unless if they fixed it, last time i played the game (1.3 patch ) artifacts location are saved in memory and the exact X and Y position is always the same until you pick it up and when the anomaly respawns a new artifact it appears in a new position.
Ah well I think if enough people report it they should find a fix. It’s the first real bug i encountered and I found a few artefacts. If I recall even the old games had it happen on the old x ray engine.

Just hopped back in the game, in one of the MSQ missions where I have to clear this area of a bunch of Burer's, and they're literally hitting me through walls with the objects they pick up and throw.
It's the "Subtle Matter" quest

I think the first one you posted is the one. I don't need help beating this, just need to report this bug to GSC. I have a recording of it, you can see the object thrown by the Burer, literally go through the wall. Not something that should be happening.
Apparently I dont have permission to send messages in the support. Hopefully someone from GSC sees my message on here, because this is something that needs to be addressed. I shouldnt have to dodge objects when Im on the other side of a wall.

I’m having this problem too. It causes motion sickness after about 15 mins of playing, and some enemies are made so much harder cause you can’t turn. I made a reddit post, asked on here, and submitted a support ticket. I really really hope they fix this

i thought i'd get like, half or less the amount of random stashes with Master, but I legit got none, made it to garbage and not a single random stash
that's waaay too much. stashes should be a joy to find in master because they'd be rare, not removed completely (besides quest-attached stashes)
Stashes should be everywhere. You don't have to activate them to find them.
i thought the way it worked was:
if you find a stash by simply exploring, you can loot it, but it'll have way less items
get coordinates for a stash, it'll contain many more items
only a select number of stashes contain attachments/armor pieces
am i wrong?
In my experience, I have found stashes that are full of items that I take.
Later, when they get activated, I go back to the same stash, and it's empty.

I'm hoping this is the right channel to ask, sorry if it isn't. Is there any known fix for this strange graphical artifact where the terrain goes completely black for a second or two, like it's enveloped in shadow, before slowly fading back into colour? It seems like a lighting issue, and it only happens when turning the screen, especially quickly. I've changed every possible graphical setting along every step with no difference, and it's not a general hardware issue as it only happens in Stalker 2. I'd send an image to illustrate the issue but I don't think I have that permission.
on ps5 when motion sensor assist is disabled, it will secretly enable behind the scenes when you aim assist at someone and will remain deactivated in settings
what helped for me was enabling the setting moving the sensitivity values to 0 and then disabling again

I just did the early game side mission: Lost Boys. The one insde you can save is called Max Saturday. And then i went on exploring further ahead, and i run into a same looking dude with the same name. Wandering randomly close to where the game started. Is this the same dude or just random?
Probably the same NPC since I think he does leave the location after the quest
Only lower your reputation slightly and sometimes make nearby friendlies hostile too. But no, it will not mess up any story line missions or side quests.

Was reading up on some other posts in the discord and forums. I'd heard about the devs working on updating the UE5 version, does anyone know if that would maybe help with the lumen issues? Or, if they'll ever add hardware-based lighting? Maybe I'm misinformed, but I've seen people attributing a lot of lighting glitches and framerate issues to the lumen being done on software rather than hardware.

High end feature in CoP. Scopes getting the same target auto marking as the binoculars
lots of lumen and nanite optimization coming with the engine update, Unreal devs repair lots of glitchy and unoptimized rendering with each updates
and in the last update i think 5.7 UE improve on foliage and vegetation quality and performance too. in early UE versions grass and trees tanks the performance quite a lot.

That's not physics. The Spawner must have a bug where it gets the z axis value wrong.
It had to figure out where exactly is above ground to get the z axis correct.
And it's very easy for that to go wrong.
And it's been like this since day 1.
1.7 has been the first time Weird Water was above ground for me.

The barely existing alife of SoC, the utterly broken alife of CS and the streamlined and neutered alife of CoP
In CoP the whole faction/territory system was broken with unending spawns at the capture points.
It tooka mod to actually fix that.
I'm sure the newfren who watched 2 videos of gamma knows a lot about alife in the OGs
I think a lot of people forget that their memories are of a heavily modded stalker.
The unmodded originals are each broken in their own unqiue and special way.

Not likely in a hot fix but there is still the planned unreal engine version upgrade coming at a TBA date
At least in my experience this patch improved my fps by ~20% in bases and a little less in the open world
But now I get 60 or higher everywhere except occasionally in Rostok it goes into the upper 50s
No framegen because it makes the game unplayable imo
