hey guys question im a day one buyer who has been loading in to the same save here and there to checvk progress and support, do you think the game is ready to be started from beginning and enjoyed as intedned ?
There are plenty of people, who not only have started and finished the game, but they've done it four different times to see each different ending.

i dont know the diffrence i just bought it lowk to support the devs i had never heard of stalker before so i had no expectations one way or the other tbf , i was super plesently enjoying wwhat i did play but mobs were spawning around the corner and the quests were like broken XD

The quests are mostly fixed and the NPCs don't spawn right in your face anymore so yeah, you'll enjoy it now. We've also got nightvision goggles, states for reload animations (now you don't cancel the entire animation of reloading and just continue it when you get to hold that gun again), you can loot mutants, the NPCs are more natural now (they take covers more actively, they don't spam with grenades, heal each other, loot corpses, don't know about your position at all times during combat, etc)...

Always carry a shotgun. It is the best weapon against mutants.
Some main quests give you a choice.
It's basically a "Choose what faction do you like more" kind of choice, don't worry about it

Seems like they changed something on the lumen for sure (not a nerf) and it's affecting occlusion and shadows a bit, but I constantly clean my shaders so I haven't seen it
It doesn't happen to me, but we've seen it happen quite a bit to people with 5000 series graphics cards.
Although some people with 4080 are also noticing it, I have only found that those who experience this use 16 VRAM graphics cards.
I'm not sure, but it could be a driver issue, or maybe they're trying to add hardware lumen=?

Yeah it made it a little better, shattered by knees still though, I remember filling holes in cladding with ‘The Blue Danube’ playing in my headphones, it made it way better

Only 1/5 mutants can be looted
Really would love a mod to change that, maybe not every single time but for some common mutants it's annoying to take out a whole pack and just get one. Would be real pipe dream to have whether or not the item dropped depending on if you did damage to the part where it is located for each specific mutant, though I understand it's not a hunting game and couldn't imagine what coding that would be like
i guess it's also meant to add some scarcity - would be really cool to have had a "quality of kill" mechanic which would yield a mutant part or not. Like RDR2 and animal hide.

Could be a bug. If you look up vatislavovych on YouTube, he has a patch 1.6 details video that shows an NPC looting a mutant, then he kills the NPC and loots the part from the npc’s inventory

I wouldn't say it's purely an isometric stalker maybe even as much as Zero Sievert is, leans a bit more into being pretty story-focused rather than freeplay & has unique lore that's more adjacent to Roadside Picnic itself, but overall it's very good highly recommend

Am I the only one whose mouse aim sensitivity doesn't work since the update? It doesn't matter if I move the slider to 0 or 100 it has no effect on ADS sensitivity. Aim sensitivity now seems to be scaled off of general sensitivity which makes no sense. I can either have way to slow general sense and reasonable ADS or my normal general sense and ADS that is too fast.

Lootble and Craftable Zone are good mods?
They are phenomenal if you are looking for that sort of expanded sandbox survivalist experience akin to freeplay modpacks, but do add a lot of random variety & finding straight junk sometimes that can be very deterring to many players just looking to play the game. I personally find it very immersive and love having so much more variety in the lootpool. Can't wait till it's fixed again to use on Xbox, with its working PDA radio and ultimately with the Base Building, Temperature/Wetness, Radiation systems and more that Kyne is cooking up, Anomaly 2 is being born right before our eyes
You couldn't have said it better, Kyne is cooking up something huge with those mods, I love his work
Both mods are definitely on my list for a future mod-enhanced playthrough, as I've only played vanilla up to now and I seem to have played enough of what the base game has had to offer so far (pre 1.6).

If you just finished a bar bounty, usually kill zombies or bandits, there is good chance only theire weapons will remain. It's been a bug for atleast 3 months.
It's not a side mission, it's just some bandits that are out at the Malachite.

I spent half a morning managing the game's economy to buy a new sniper and a new assault rifle and upgrade them with the bare minimum. Wear and tear reduction and aiming through the NVG.
My previous GP37s and especially the Mosin have been nerfed.
In fact, however, the Mosin did exaggerated damage before the 1.6.
So when another mod overwrites a different one its still broken?

okay so I'm not the person to explain this because I'm just a dumdum that has things explained to him by smarter people but
what's happening to mods now is that instead of slapping entire .cfg files on top of what the game had, now it's a more reference heavy method
meaning you only write the lines you want changed, and it should just touch those lines
of course, this means that all mods need to be rewritten to accomodate to this new method
in theory, if two mods don't change the same thing, they shouldn't overwrite. If they do change the same thing, they should do in load order
but again, I must stress: this is assuming that both mods have been updated to the new method introduced in 1.6.

I’ve noticed something in Unreal Engine and wanted to ask if others experience the same thing. When you turn your character really quickly—especially at night—the world seems to “phase in.” It’s like parts of the environment are catching up as you spin, and it becomes noticeable.
I saw this happen with my RTX 4090 and now again with my 5090, so it’s definitely not a system hardware issue. My assumption is that it’s an engine limitation. Do you think this is something that will be improved or mitigated in the next Unreal Engine upgrade?
Also, will we get further draw distance with the engine upgrade? Like loading in A life beyond 100m?

I use Shay's Impacts instead and don't use Unforgiving Zone just not in love with the 0 heal from bandages always wasting a medkit even from something minor, plus whatever conflicts with Lootable Zone lootpool/trader rebalances and that is more important to me

Medkits heal slower and bandages do not restore health

not just with loot boxes but also with NVGs and who knows what else, since the mod will also override the effects file that holds a bunch of those new features
for me BB & like no HUD, 1% opacity on an OLED esp so I can still see hunger icon plus I don't find the visual cues to be good enough on everything like health for example being same at 70% as 100% and then dying to something that wouldn't have one-shotted you if you could tell you had a minor injury without the health bar. Those together have been enough for me to turn it into more the Metro ranger hardcore style experience I prefer for Stalker gameplay & gunplay
the game should work fine, but def with a bunch of caveats. If youre enjoying it then go ahead. I should update the mod soon ish anyways

Unforgiving Zone, I read directly on the console that it updated to 1.6. Maybe it creates conflict with RLD now though. I've been using it for many hours, both before and after the 1.6 update, and I haven't noticed any problems.
unforgiving zone was updated for PC on modio for GOG and Gamepass users, not on xbo yet, sorry
Better ballistic on Xbox disables the offset crosshair when using the NVG.

BB on xbox also severely outdated, since there has been a lot of new changes added to those files
not that youve notice... I honestly dont know what breaks. For example i know that BB will break Weapon Reposition Project, and might cause issues with NVG and offset aiming
RLD not working, i have no idea what could be the issue there, maybe the new AssetLibrary file or any mod that is conflicting with CoreVariables, althought i believe other modders have avoided touching those files for Xbox releases
anyways ive sent my request to update my mods, hopefully GSC has enough time to get those out by the end of the week, but there is a huge queue of updates

yes just make sure to adapt your graphics settings, and look into using the latest DLSS models, it improves the game massively.

Idk which is better….kinda like the “randomness” of the zone….but can appreciate the “simulation” aspect of A-Life. But then aren’t we talking CPU utilization to the point of like a fallout/skyrim game? Those game SIMULATE everything in the background…..

The game will spawn NPCs beetween the Loaded Chunks and the Vision buble, there is nothing happening outside of the chunks, if AI steps out of the loaded chunks they despawn, if you load a earlier save or quit the game the AI despawns with no data saved
Right which is awesome now. Example, I was in the early on abandoned building, sat in the dark and picked off an entire squad with my silence pistol. Super satisfying.
yup, I'm on a 4060 laptop with a 13700H and I can run 1440p on playable fps but with pretty poor dlss settings, I've always prioritised 60fps over visuals but I would like to have my cake and eat it too.
Still though, the improvements in the combat AI make me recognize the gaps in the A-life. Was bringing up last night the fact that how intuitive is the system really that anytime a hostile NPC enters within radius of the player to engage combat, unless they kill the player/the player kills them or unless the player runs from them, they are just going to endlessly be hostile dumping unlimited ammo at the player, not make any decisions out of self-preservation like retreating when their entire squad has been taken out, and in general make the whole experience feel that much shallower. NPCs need some degree of self-preservation so A life is more interesting. Running into hostile stalkers you might have recognized rather than every single one ends up dead at your feet the first time because his unending desire to kill you was stronger than his will to live.
the system needs to exist to neable it to work in the first place, the game as it stands rn cannot have NPC nodes and pathfinding in unloaded chunks meaning that NPCs cant simulate objectives past the player loaded position

that's not entirely true anymore. I've met NPC before and did meet them again at some other point, hours later. but still I don't believe in what GSC said "they live their lives until they meet their end". They still despawn somewhere, sometime
you can test this yourself, merely turn on flying and youll be able to fly up until the chunk deloads, when you fly down, the NPC that should be there no longer is

HoC already has A-Life, just, the level that has is not enough for a game of this scale or as for being called A-Life 2.0, better than CoP A-Life tho.

To adjust ADS (Aim Down Sights) sensitivity in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, use the Controller Aim Sensitivity setting for gamepads or modify specific game configuration files on PC, as the in-game ADS setting has been reported as buggy. For controllers, try setting Aim Assist Type to Focusing and adjust Controller Aim Sensitivity to around 40 for better aim and accuracy. For mouse and keyboard, you may need to edit files like Input.ini to disable mouse smoothing and acceleration, as these can negatively impact sensitivity.

Performance might I increase but the bugs they've managed to fix, more will come out with the new engine update. This is gonna be a 2-3 year project until its in the best state. Lot of work ahead folks, buy the dlcs to help fund them 🙂

it's been really slow progress and the only real reason I can look at other than the obvious is that unreal is tripe. Everything feels like it's held together with duct tape. Each update brings a slew of new issues. Knock on effects. Most evident is the lighting issues, now we have NVGs it's clear to see the lighting engine with Lumen is a mess.

For me it's more about the tempo. First patches were mostly about most important stability fixes, we started getting real stuff only since 1.5, 1.6 had long realise window becouse they started working on engine upgrade I suppose. So as you said, lots of moving parts

Bug Report: Weather VFX Instantly Disappear During Transitions
Version: 1.6
Issue:
Weather particle effects, specifically rain, abruptly disappear at the start of a transition to a non-VFX weather type (e.g., from 'Rainy' to 'Clearly'). The VFX should fade out naturally over the course of the transition but instead vanishes instantly, breaking immersion.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Load any save in the vanilla game.
- Open the console and force a rainy weather: xforceweather 5
- Open the console and initiate a transition to a clear weather: xswitchtoweather 0
- Result: The rain VFX will immediately stop rendering, instead of fading out as the transition progresses.
Analysis:
This bug appears to be a side effect of the new modular weather VFX system and its reliance on the Dynamic Particle Table. - The system separates weather effects into components (rain, thunder, debris) and uses the Dynamic Particle Table to assign them to specific weather types.
- The core problem is that weathers without these effects (like 'Clearly', 'Cloudy', etc.) are not assigned the VFX in the table.
- When the engine begins a transition from a weather that has a VFX (e.g., 'Rainy') to one that does not, the Dynamic Particle Table immediately blocks the VFX from rendering. This causes the abrupt cutoff.
Suggested Solution:
A functional workaround is to modify the Dynamic Particle Table to allow all weathers to spawn all VFX. This ensures that when transitioning from a VFX-heavy weather to a clear one, the particle effect from the source weather is not blocked and can fade out naturally as intended.

I’m coming back to the game now with 1.6 and planning to really immerse myself and clean the starter areas (lesser zone, garbage and maybe cordon) waiting for more updates to come as those are the ones I got to see on my first playthrough before putting it down.
My question is about the mid/late game content, I read that there’s a lack of things to do at that point and the game feel a bit empty and boring. I don’t want to spoil myself too much so asking here. Is this something that has improved with the stash rebalance and the new secondary missions added? Or is this still an issue?

They were. Many not-so-easy-to-get-to stashes would give you absolutely basic crap. Now, I haven't played the game since 1.6, but that particular situation felt pretty unsatisfying/lame. It's imho very good that they took steps to address it somehow.

All Stalker games and Mods generally suffer from crappy stashes. Same for the inventory NPCs are willing to sell you.
Maybe, I don't recall. I stand by my earlier point about the not-so-easy stashes (in S2, since you mention the OG 3). A lot of them just felt bad (and they really didn't have to).
I've seen people carry 30 bottles of vodka. 30 Medkits and 50 bandages. 20 cans of food. 30 sausages. 40 pieces of bread. Why?
There are a lot of crappy stashes with not much in them, but at least they have enough basics, so all that shouldn't be carried around.
I wouldn't carry that with me. I rarely if ever carried vodka (just used the pills), only take about 3-4 food items, but I did typically pack 30 medkits and 30 bandages on Vet (instead of 20/20 on Stalker) just to be extra safe on longer hauls. Lots of stuff was simply stored in my stash, for later use and/or for sale (nevermind the collection of weapons + armor + other stuff).

unless GSC specifically publishes an up to date checklist (and they aren't going to) there isn't a way to definitely tell if they consider a certain item in the roadmap as done or not

The dedication of this team is amazing. I jumped back in stalker after a lot of months, so many updates so many stuff to do to explore. I also loaded some mods to make it more realistic imo and I love it.

feels like half my playtime has some kind of ass looking grey/green overcast tint to it

that one stash in the helicopter field west of rostok that requires you doing a parkour puzzle now actually gives you some good stuff

Is it recommended to carry 2 suits on you (1 hazard for anomalies, 1 combat protection) or just switch them from stash as necessary?
It's recommended to do as you prefer, as either tactic has its pros and cons
Physical resist is generally preferred due to the fact that you can negate all anomaly-related damage once you're good enough
And during fights with stalkers you will at least catch a stray bullet
So for the sake of optimizing a loadout you could take just one suit so you have more space for loot
Probably not, due to carry weight concerns and better options. If you are at the point where carry weight doesn't matter as much to you, you probably are already aware of the 'better options' (basically upgrades to either one of your armors + artifacts).
I usually carry a normal ballistic protection suit unless I'm heading into hazardous area

I'm sure this has been answered a million times already, so sorry about the question, but: I can't get the NV goggles to work. They're in the right slot and I've tried rebinding the key, double tapping the key, holding the key and restarting the game several times. Nothing has worked. Any solutions??
The worst part is the GSC Forums was the largest archive on the planet, of the games, the mods, the lore, the history of each of the games, and so much more. All lost in 2022 due to the invasion of Ukraine.
Make sure you didn't bind it to a key that is still assigned to another object using that same key. Look through your entire listing of controls to see if you are not double binding.
My advice is to move it to your mouse wheel, if that's the same for your headlamp.

GSC should simply "close" it, not replace it (the site for GSC Forums now is for the official GSC web).
GSC had no control of the GSC Forums, since it was on a Server in Russia. The Russians simply took it off-line. GSC did have a backup but I was told they nuked the half that was all in Russian. They decided to keep the English half and no longer allow access to any of it .
The software was very outdated, from 1999 and could not host pictures or video. GSC expected people to move to modern social media like Facebook, Discord and others.

Just letting you know that what worked was uninstalling the two mods, "craftable zone" and "lootable zone", and then following your advice with rebinding the NV goggles key to the mouse wheel. The NV goggles do, however, only turn on when I hold down the button which is odd because I didn't set it to "hold to activate"
At least you are able to turn them on now. Good to know those two Mods are not compatible with the 1.6 patch and NVG.

When I tried to go back, in the water below my waist, I reached a point where I could make the motions of movement, but no progress. Like I was stuck.

A lot of the side-missions you can redo, since they will take you to many different locations.
That's a good way to determine if a location should be avoided, as it may later be part of the main mission.
I figure If a side-mission takes me somewhere, most likely it will never be a main mission location.

There's some broken side-missions there. Always make plenty of saves as you do them.
When you return to Hera on some of them, you can't clear the marker that you completed them.
For that reason, you can go back to a save before you did the objective, to return to Hera to decline it.
Huh I didint have any issues with siędę quests from hera, more as general duty side quests.
More about duty related side quests, theres only a few of them and some are avaiable only post-SIRCAA

It does make sense narratively with the events at SIRCAA with those respective quests, as well as encourages multiple playthroughs. I do agree that some are really easy to miss if you aren't crawling the whole map both before & after SIRCAA for the side missions

The blueprint and artifact ones are a grind I wish upon no one, and both took painfully-long amounts of time as well as meticulous documentation to make sure you haven't missed anything because that's when it really sucks, thinking you got them all and the achievement doesn't pop. It does feel nice to play with mods knowing that sitting at 100% achievement completion anyway as far as them being disabled goes (consolepleb)

Nah, not as far as I'm aware. I think you'll always have to use the little attachment sub menu, but that would be a sweet mod to see 👀 @round bolt would such a thing be possible?
a lot of those ones that are hidden are because they would be big story spoilers, so don't go revealing them unless you're willing to take that risk because there are some definite ones in there that are like oh didn't know x happens and the description of the achievement is literally that

Word your canted aim fix recently made me think of you for that sorta thing but word. Generally I agree, but also I like to play with no HUD & often the only thing I'm swapping on and off of that menu is the suppressor anyway, so I could see the craving for a bind explicitly for that just for >muh immersion to not still have that UI element coming up on the screen, as well as I feel like that menu has always been wonky on controller and sometimes it will just deselect everything
well you could just unequip the suppressor from inventory instead I suppose.

Hey everyone, recently i got a problem with my automatic rifles. When i shoot with for instance ak, ar416, integral or any other automatic rifle bullets doesnt hit anything they're like vanishing. But with sniper rifles and shotguns seems ok. Has anyones faced with that problem?
i tried to shoot the wall or any surface and bullets are not doing any hit on it

yes im using a lot of mods, am on pc
well, WW2 can do that on console because there's a spare button to implement that. and S2 opted for the menu system instead
on nexus it says that its updated, and it worked fine until certain moment when i got this problem
mod conflict then, uninstall any weapon related mods that's not new model/textures (except for Shay's)
I do recognize it doesn't make sense to have a bind for that single use like that instead of the much more intuitive system that they went with, still would be cool to me for those aforementioned reasons. Personally, the only attachment I'm really messing with on the fly is ever the suppressor
I would strongly recommend absolutely deleting every single mod you have and redownloading the entire list one by one, making sure it explicitly states it's 1.6 compatible.
for weapon related mods i have: bb, shay's rda and impacts, reticles by flash, less weapon degredation, red shells (textures), weapon reposition, black x2 scope, real weapon attachments
because with the changes to 1.6 if something is not specifically been brought up to 1.6 it'll have a high likelihood of causing all sorts of trouble.
thing is that ive been playing with that mods on 1.6 and used only mods that have been updated to 1.6 or the mods that are not needed to be updated, and yes everything was ok until for some moment

oh yeah, gotta love conflicts. remove that weapon degradation mod first, and absolutely make sure BB is updated to 2.6.2

yeah lol I redone all the weapon HP myself, so any mod that edits stuff like ADS, degradation etc will automatically be incompatible with BB

there's still other mods conflicting then, I don't have such issues on my end
it would be great right, like NO games except for R6 Vegas and Ghost Recon do the quick attach for the suppressors. I feel in today's age, that would be a given for these types of games.

True forgot those, I enjoyed that in Breakpoint it's a nice little QoL feature for these games in which you're regularly going quiet vs. loud
there is a quick attach, detach animation for waepons that have that option, just use the attachement menu, instead of a button, its 2

The quest gives you a scoped ak a bit too soon for my taste, the devs themselves acknowledge this and they manually decreased the damage of that specific unique ak

Guys I need help, I’m at Varan camp after completing the first part of his quest, and all the npcs appears in fight mode, compass is red and shows them as enemies but they don’t attack me, and I can’t talk to Varan

Each update adds more A-Life functionality

Yeah if I was the devs I would have held back on the a-life stuff. The game was already struggling without the a-life updates. I know it was a popular thing for the fans to fix but the game clearly isn’t ready for it
You could try forcing off lumen, that would help CPU perf but it would ruin the visuals
